“A Special Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

I've stayed in Marrakesh a number of times but this time was really special and what made the difference was this amazing riad, The location is fantastic in the heart of the medina. The riad is very comfortable and the staff are warm and friendly. We were given a great out of season rate too..

Great place, wonderful and very welcoming and friendly hosts, well appointed rooms, nice homemade food, close to the main square (Jamaa Elf Na) in the Medina. One downfall of staying in the Medina is it can be prone to noise in the evening / night, thus compromising sleep quality.

This Riad is lovely. Very friendly and helpful staff, always at the ready and all smiles. The location is great, about 3 minutes walk from the square though you'd nave no idea of that considering the Riad is so quite! It's relatively easy to find, though it is advisable to take up their offer of airport taxi service for the first time as you cannot reach the Riad by car. Rooms are spacious enough, very clean with lovely decor. Bathroom is good too! The (very sweet!) breakfast on the roof terras was served until 11.00 which is great after a night out. The Riad also offers lovely wine on the roof terras for a decent price. All in all this is great value and recommendable.

Room Tip: We had a twin room on the ground floor. It's recommendable to ask for a room on the first or sec...

Quiet, comfortable and affordable. The Riad really is an oasis of calm from the chaotic hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. Very close to Jamaa Elf Na but down a quiet side street. Madiha and her staff are highly professional and yet incredibly warm and friendly and make you feel you are at a home from home. Lovely welcome tea and breakfast on the rooftop!
Highly Recommended.

The quality of service was outstanding! We traveled to Marrakech with our toddler (who was one week away from turning 2 years old). We were worried about the availability of milk for him and also that if he were to scream that we would disturb everyone in the riad (we had read report after report that you can hear "everything" in a riad). The staff at L'Heure d'Ete bent over backwards to make us feel comfortable and even made sure that our little guy had fresh milk whenever he needed it. And although we saw other guests at breakfast, when we were in the riad and in our room, it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves - never heard anything from anyone. That might be because when our baby needed to sleep, most other people were out exploring or visiting the square at night. The riad was beautiful, breakfast was nice and (important for my work) WIFI connection was strong. The best thing however (other than the closeness to the square) was the service and friendliness of the staff. They were great.

So much to say about this cozy riad set in a quiet back street 5mins from the utter madness of the main square where you'll find fresh orange juice for 40p a glass, snake charmers, street performers, and a huge mass of people!

1st - make sure you book a pickup from the airport. Unless you've been here before, you'll never find it alone! Well worth the 20 Euro! The airport pickup was there ready and waiting. Very friendly driver, spoke good English. The driver had to drop us 5mins from the Riad (pedestrian only street), on the side of the road which is where we were met by a charming guy who promptly loaded our bags into his cart and escorted us through MADLY busy crowds to the Riad. He spoke no English at all but managed to make us feel welcome and safe amongst the immediate madness that is Marrakesh! A small tip for him and the gratitude was immense. (We've since seen him daily, and even though it's not needed at all, we've asked for him to escort us back to the taxi on the return home in Friday.).

Greeted very warmly at the Riad,  shown around,  and immediately given the famous sugar loaded mint tea along with a map and some hints/tips. I can't fault the Riad hospitality. WOW! Nothing is too much trouble. They recommend a SUPERB Hammam at Les Baines Des Marrakesh - superb value at 170 Dirhams for a basic Hammam. Day trips also available but we didn't take them up on this.

Our room - basic but suited our every need - a VERY COMFORTABLE double bed, a safe, desk, toilet and shower. A BIG selling point here is the complete black out in the bedrooms via shutters if you want it dark. A small negative - easy to be woken up by noise outside from early morning, but nothing ear plugs didn't fix so bring some!

Riad breakfast - very similar every day but with a slight variation. A traditional Morroccan breakfast is carb-heavy (pancakes/waffles with jams) so if you're after a healthy option, stay in a hotel with a buffet (and no culture or ambience I'm sure!). Riad dinner - not bad at all. Fairly basic menu,  nothing to shout about, but perfect for a quiet night in after a hard day out in the souks!

The souks in Marrakesh - be comfortable with getting lost. The locals all want to know you so chat, enjoy,  barter,  but most of all, SMILE. If you do get lost at any time, any local will help you AND take you to where you need to be. However, be aware they'll expect a small tip for their services and all of 80p later you'll be pleased you did - their local knowledge will get you to places you never expected. My biggest lesson - Trust them. They're not trying to screw you or murder you! They just want to earn a few pennies so go with it and support the local economy whilst you're at it!

For service with a big smile, a comfortable stay, daily housekeeping, good food, a jacuzzi on the heated terrace, and a crazy Marrakesh experience on your doorstep,  this riad is perfect!

Haven't checked out yet (I'm using their free wifi to write this in bed!) But highly recommend!
