“Homely and Romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

With only 5 rooms available, we were the only couple there for the first night and we were greeted with the night care taker Abdul who then served us Moroccan mint tea and sugar biscuits!

The riad is very quiet and a little confusing to find as we arrived at night. After the second night, coming back to the riad is a breeze.

The room was clean and we got a room with a toilet with bath tub and also a dome filled with colored glass stars above the toilet. It was relaxing and enjoyable to be in the toilet. I can't believe I said that but really it was enjoyable to be in the toilet!

The riad serves dinner and breakfast costing about 10 euros per person and it will be cooked on site by Khatijah however you need to inform the care taker in advance. The food was authentic and filling beyond imaginable.

Deco within the riad is beautiful yet simple. They even have a dipping pool for summer and a terrace to relax on. There a guide book available scattered within the riad and a fair amount of english books for the book worms.

Do ask the care takers for advise before stepping out of the riad as you may feel harassed by the local teenagers outside the riad and the whole of Marrakech.

Room Tip: choose the Jacaranda room its the only room with a bath tub and dome.

We stayed at the Riad for four nights between 24-28th December. The Riad is hidden away in the north of the Medina which is about 20 minutes walk from the main square and you can only travel by foot for the last five minutes or so. When walking to the Riad, the last five minutes or so might seem a bit strange as it's via lots of little dark alleys and mostly a 'locals' area, but once you get used to it, it's very nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas and all the locals were friendly and helpful.

The Riad itself was very nice and the staff are all helpful and lovely. The breakfasts were good and include a mixture of fresh orange juice, breads, simple cheese, eggs, a Moroccan pancake type thing, fruit and yoghurt.

Our room was very nice, big and clean and had a very impressive bathroom. The products provided are nice and the water in the bathroom was hot. If you are going in the winter time, the evenings can be cold and so make good use of the small electric heater provided in the rooms!

The Riad is a nice size and as there are only five rooms, there are people around but it's still quiet. The roof is a sun trap and the inner courtyard area is very nice (cool in the mornings).

During our stay the wifi didn't work very well.

We were trapped in Marrakech by the torrential floods, preventing us from driving south. Friends of ours had stayed at Riad Ariha a few years ago and loved it back then, so we figured we'd give it a shot. We are very happy we did. The manager Abdo met us and immediately made us feel at home. We got a fantastic room in the tranquil riad, which doesn't have too many rooms, giving it an exclusive feel. It has a nice courtyard and a beautiful rooftop terrace. Another thing is that it's close to everything, but still feels like an oasis of calm in a busy city.

Abdo recommended a sensational restaurant right around the corner, where we ate in magnificent style. Unfortunately during the meal, someone had broken the windshield of our car, but Abdo was extremely helpful and accommodating, going out of his way to assist us and proved invaluable as a translator at the police station. He also helped us the next day when returning the car at the airport. Though we were unfortunate with regards to a drunk guy breaking our windshield, the hotel staff did everything in their power to help us. We can't speak warmly enough about the hotel and will definitely stay there, the next time we go to Marrakech.

I spent a long time researching the style of accommodation I wished to stay at in Marrakesh and had already an expectation of what a Riad would be like, being a traditional style of family living built for the climate and conditions of lifestyle for current and years goneby. I wanted fresh, beautiful clean and white washed which was what I liked. This Riad has had a lot of thought put into it for the tiniest detail, to haman style bathrooms, copper fittings and antique hats and sandsoap flooring in the rooms. I personally loved it and the rooftop in the cooler evening was what I call romantic and nice to sit an have a quiet glass of wine and soak up the atmosphere. Ariha Riad is quaint and tucked away discreetly within the Medina. It is safe and the staff can only be congratulated for being the wonderful people they are; very sincere, welcoming, understanding of a travellers needs and with any questions will assist and more. A great credit to Riad. Thank you Evonne and team, and especially Amina for making our time in Morrocco special. I do hope to return and will stay at Ariha Riad again. xxx

Room Tip: All rooms are great.

A quiet Riad in a slightly unsettling part of the town centre. That said, the staff were keen to accompany us to the square and ensure we knew our way at all times.

The room was clean and had excellent air conditioning (required in August) and we felt it was an ideal riad to see the medina without being amidst the hustle and bustle.

The location did lack close amenities for snacks or local places to eat but I would not substitute this for another closer to the mayhem of the square which you need to get away from at the end of the day.

There was a slight language barrier but the staff were very friendly and trust worthy, required when you are being hassled in the square by day!

I would recommend this riad for a very "local" and traditional experience without having to sacrifice cleanliness or comfort.

Thanks in particular to Abdou, who went above and beyond to ensure our very pleasant 2 night stay in Marrakech. He and Amina are truly an asset to the Riad, always friendly and happy to help wherever needed. The Riad is centrally located with easy walking distance to most of the sights, but quietly located for Medina standards to enjoy a quiet afternoon after battling the business that is Marrakech. We were travelling with 5 people and would happily return after this experience at Riad Ariha!

Wonderful management who are genuinely committed to guests having a good stay -- to your comfort, safety, enjoyment of Marrakech. They gave great advice about reasonable rates to pay for the variety of items sold in the souks (all without pushing you toward particular vendors). Amina, Abdul and the rest of the staff are lovely people. All the guests seemed to be equally pleasant -- there were friends, romantic couples as well as a mother, daughter and grandmother on vacation, so good for a variety of guests.

If you want an authentic Moroccan meal, order dinner and dine by candlelight near the fountains at ground level. The rooms and bathrooms are charming, clean and stylish; there are nice lounging areas on the ground floor and at terrace level.
