“Excellent time at Dar Anika”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

Brilliant holiday in Marrakech made even more perfect due to our stay at Dar Anika. Samir and the team could not do enough to make our stay there any more enjoyable. After a delayed arrival our driver arranged via the hotel took us on the short journey to the Riad in comfort. On arrival we had a lovely meal on the terrace before bed. The next morning after a tasty Moroccan breakfast , Samir gave a comprehensive insight into the sights and sounds of the local area with places to visit and avoid which was very useful when exploring the town. We booked excursions via Samir with confidence in getting the best service and experienced a Hammam and massage onsite.
For all of our stay the staff were very attentive and little gestures like bringing cake and drinks to poolside when we were having a dip didn't go un noticed to make you feel special.
Would definitely recommend and use again if we returned to Marrakech - 5 Stars !!

I was here only one night, thanks to Air Tunisia's strike, but it was a great night. The innkeepers worked with me about the strike, made sure I was safely met at the airport, and best of all, managed to put all of my favorite Moroccan foods into a gorgeous dinner. Their cook is particularly talented. My stay was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient to the souks. I usually stay on the other side of the square, but this was a fine change. The roof deck might be the best part of the hotel - very pleasant. The bed was a little hard, but that's about all I can point to that might be improved upon. Everything else was really great. Email and phone communications were fast and reliable, and the folks who run the hotel are responsive.

If you can believe it, when I departed, I found they'd made me supper to-go since they knew I would miss dinner with my flight time. Believe me, that fruit and sandwich was the envy of everyone on that BA flight to Gatwick; it was delicious and the airplane choices were terrible. I feel really lucky to have found such a nice place and kind people to stay with. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel has excellent customer service and nice little touches that guests will remember. Upon arrival we were received with a welcome tea, sweet milk, little pastry delights and dates. We also received an upgrade to a suite, which was lovely. Breakfast was delicious and abundant, with harira soup, cake, fruit, eggs, juice, good coffee, crepes and bread! The staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant and when we were leaving they even gave us a packed lunch in a lovely coloured material bag. The location is also very good, within walking distance to the Djemma el Fna square and other sites, such as the Bahia Palace, which is around the corner. The only slightly negative comment I have relates not to the hotel itself but to the guide organised by Dar Anika who took us on a walking tour for a few hours (a complimentary add-on if you book direct with the hotel). While he was a perfectly nice man, his tour wasn't the most informative and he was eager to take us to shops. That was a pity as we had much more informative guides in other Moroccan cities.

Room Tip: The suite on the first floor at the far end of the courtyard is lovely.

Staff are very friendly, helpful and hospitable. They are always available, happy to help with good tips for where to eat out and visit, as well as useful advice for getting around safely. When we arrived we were greeted warmly with a traditional Moroccan welcome including delicious cakes and tea. The hotel is very beautifully designed and decorated with a calm, quiet atmosphere, and is kept very clean. There is a lovely roof terrace with interesting views, where you can enjoy breakfast and relax on the loungers. The breakfast was everything you could want (fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, cake, delicious breads, Moroccan soup, fresh orange juice, coffee) and was delicious. The hotel is in an excellent location close to the main square as well as attractions like the El Badi Palace. It is also well located for the airport and the hotel were happy to arrange transport to the airport for us at quite short notice. Overall, everything was perfect! Great location and atmosphere, beautiful hotel, delicious food, and very helpful and hospitable staff!

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room, and it was very nice and quiet! You may want to ask for a quiet room too...

We just spent 3 nights at the Riad Dar Anika. We had very high expectations after reading good reviews in trip advisor, and we were not disappointed. It is an experience not to be missed. The Riad is located very conveniently in the center of the Medina. You can walk to many attractions like the Souk, Palace El Badi, the Saadiens Tombs and the Palace of la Bahia. Every night we walk to the Jemaa el Fna Square, which fills with people and music after dawn, an experience not to be missed.

The rooms are very confortable and there is a nice pool, good to cool off from the heat of the Morrocan summer. The hotel is managed by Samir, who was very helpful arranging excursions around Marrakesh and day trips to the Atlas mountains. All the other staff were very nice and the level of service is like a Four Seasons hotel. I hope to return soon to Riad Anika.

We spent just two nights here at the end of our Moroccan holiday but it was the perfect finale to an fantastic 10 days in a wonderful country and an amazing culture.

Dar Anika is in a great position with an easy walk to the main square and souks and just a stones-throw from Bahia Palace and El Badi Palace (both are must-see places). The riad itself is immaculate from top to bottom. From the moment you step through the front door it is a beautiful little oasis with its reception and central courtyard. Our room was spotless and really comfortably furnished with a nice firm four-poster bed (nice crisp linen) and then on the roof level is a dining area and also some sun lounges etc for chilling after a dip in the pool.

Food: The breakfasts we were served on the roof were great quality and abundant. A mixture of western (coffee, juice & scrambled eggs) and local (fruit, soup & pastries) fare. They set us up well for our days exploring round Marakesh. However the highlight was on our last night when we ate on the roof terrace. A Moroccan feast was bought to us course by course and the beef tajine was AWESOME! All washed down with a nice bottle of Moroccan red.

Service: As good as the Riad itself is and as great as the food was, its the service that gets this place five stars from me. It is very clear from the time you arrive that nothing is too much trouble for these guys. They really wanted us to have a perfect stay in their Riad and in Marrakech itself. They arranged taxi's, dinners out (& dinners in), a tour guide, airport transfer for us. No problems. They are thoughtful and very helpful without being in-your-face at all.

Bottom line: This is not a budget destination but you get value for your money. Perfect location, great accommodation, great food & amazing service.

Many Thanks Guys! :-)

PS: Dont forget to feed the pet turtles on the rooftop at breakfast!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1 which was fantastic. I think there are only 12 rooms and whilst we didn't s...

The hotel had sent us a taxi to pick up from airport. Everything was v smooth. When we arrived, we were asked to sit in a lovely peaceful room and served tea and cakes! No reception formalities, 'no fill the form and here is your key' dryness. It was a lovely warm welcome. First room we stayed in was a bit noisy, but when we mentioned it to the owner, we were promptly moved to a larger, quieter room. The breakfast is served on a beautiful terrace lined with bright flowers. Food is delicious. Service is very friendly and always with a smile.
On our first day, we were given an orientation talk and a map by the owner himself. The map turned out extremely useful.
The hotel is 10 min walk from the main square and souk shopping. There is a petit taxi rank opposite the hotel. It is very convenient.
It was our anniversary and we were presented flowers and a frozen dessert/ icecream cake which was delicious.
On our last day, our flight was at 10pm and checkout was at 12 noon. They let us spend the whole day in the room which was absolutely wonderful as it was v hot outside. We are both extremely grateful for the hospitality. On our way to airport, they gave us packed food :)
Thank God they did because our flight was delayed. It was overwhelmingly warm hospitality and beautiful setting. There is a lot of loving thought put into everything that goes on here.
I would thoroughly recommend this place.
