“A perfect place in a busy city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2009

We stayed here for two nights and it is really a 'hot spot!' We were welcomed with thea and biscuits, a beautiful, very good room. The bathroom was spacious. The bathroom from our friends was a little bit small. The only thing is that they have to maintain everything, we get the impression if something breaks down the don't repair it. But that is erverywhere in Morocco. But no doubt a good place to go.

My wife and I stayed here with friends for 3 nights in November. The Riad was about 15 minutes from the airport by cab which was arranged by our host Zohra. She was very welcoming and helpful and the Riad, which is superbly located within the Medina was beautiful. We ate in the Riad on our first night after an early flight and enjoyed a couple of bottles of wine. The food was excellent. The main square and Souks are a short walk and easily accessible. Zohra sorted out a trip to the Atlas mountains at very short notice in a 4x4, with a short climb to some water falls and a visit to Richard Branson’s restaurant for lunch. A great day. I would not hesitate to either stay here again if in Marrakesh or recommend it to friends.

RIAD DJEMANNA
We had the distinct pleasure of spending five nights at this lovely riad this past July. We found the staff to be extremely accommodating, especially given that travel mishaps led to our arrival at 3:30 AM without our luggage! Zohra Bekkari, met us in the morning with much-needed supplies (e.g., tooth brushes and tooth paste, a razor and shaving cream) and an offer to take us shopping for other things if our bags did not arrive in short order!! She provided a wonderful orientation to the riad and the city, both of which are simply beautiful. All of the rooms in the riad – the bedrooms and suites, as well as the common areas – are handsomely decorated and reflect great thought and taste. The entire atmosphere of the place inspires a sense of calm and relaxation, right in the center of the medina. The riad’s kitchen is also wonderful. We had two meals, both of which were very tasty and well prepared, and eating in the courtyard rooms added to the pleasure of the dining experience. We highly recommend this beautiful spot for a special Marakech experience.

Went here with a friend for four days over Easter. The Riad is decorated with a really good taste. The Terrace is wonderful too. We had dinner twice in the Riad and the food was very tasty. Try to ask them to prepare a little snack for a drink before dinner: The small puff pastry appetizers where delicious. The location is quite central (10 minutes to the Souk and to the Square), but in a small a very quiet street, which was a bless when we came back from the hustle of Marrakech! Highly recommended!

Comfortable and clean, with a very friendly staff and good food. Room are ample enough. Decoration is simple but tasteful. Not overdone but not outstanding.

Zoha, the manager, is charming, professional and very helpful.

The location is good too in order to explore the souk and Djemaa El Fna.

  • Liked — comfortability and friendliness
  • Disliked — shower with no curtain

My wife and I stayed here some time ago (April 2007) but feel compelled to share the experience. The Riad is just a short walk (2 mins?) from the souks in the medina. Like most quality riads, it's a quiet oasis from the bustle of the streets, the food is fabulous and the staff are very friendly. This riad, however, has none of the uncomfortable stuffiness you can sometimes get elsewhere. While traditionally decorated, it has a modern funkiness about it that gives it a higher degree of "cool". There's more of a vitality about the place, which is a big compliment to the owners and management. You get all the tradional riad services and feel, but with an extra buzz in this riad. And it's way cheaper than some of the other riads of similar star quality. Having stayed at other riads, I would definitely choose this one going forward. In fact, if I ever get to build my own dream house, I'd want to capture the feel that this place has.

  • Liked — Everything you get in a riad, plus a great feel to the place
  • Disliked — We had to eventually leave

We stayed at Riad Djemanna in Marrakech for a week at half-term with our 2 gandchildren, aged 10 and 13. I chose Marrakech because we wanted them to experience a completely different culture and way of life and I'd heard that children were very welcome! I found the Riad by chance on the internet - the photos looked wonderful (we could chose our rooms from them) and the prices for 1 suite and 1 twin room were reasonable (very good value for money as it turned out). It was also situated right in the Medina 15 minutes walk from the Place Jemaa-el-Fna through the souks and within easy reach of the palaces, museum and Kasbah etc.
I booked by e-mail , followed by telephone calls with Zohra who is a lovely, bubbly, efficient manageress who speaks fluent English and who heads a really friendlly team of staff.
We were met as requested at the airport. Our arrival was delayed as our aircraft touched down at the same time as President Sarkozy but our late arrival for dinner caused no fuss at all.
The courtyard of the Riad is quite beautifully decorated as are the bedrooms, the dining room, the sitting area and the roof terrace - no detail has been overlooked but it is not cluttered nor 'minimalist' . The boys were obviously thrilled and whilst we did try to keep them from being noisy no one else seemed to find them a problem!! Far from it, in fact they were 'adopted' by Halid who, along with Karima, was always around if we wanted anything to eat or drink or if we wanted an excursion arranged/our flights re-confirmed etc. The owners, whom we met, visit every month for a few days to make sure everything is running okay but with Zohra in charge I can't imagine that they have any worries.
Fatima, the cook, provided us with excellent, traditional cooking on 2 evenings and breakfast, included in the price, was a different selection of Moroccan delicacies every day which were thoroughly appreciated by all of us including the 2 boys who usually won't touch anything at that time of day.
We highly recommend this Riad as the perfect place for couples, singles or families if they want warm, attentive service in an excellent location.

  • Liked — The Riad itself, the staff who were fantastic andFatima's food
  • Disliked — Rather hard pillows!
