“Did the job for us”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

We chose the golden tulip because of the temperatures over 40 degrees at the time. We wanted air con and a pool to cool down in. My husband, sister and I stayed in one of the bungalows which has two bathrooms and split level so fine for our needs. We used he bar a lot as their was nowhere outside the hotel openly selling beer or wine during Ramadan. It was expensive but not above other hotels.
The pool area got very busy so I'd advice joining the masses and putting towels out as early as possible or you won't get a sunbed. People we saw were mainly couples and families so no idea why they chose to have a pool DJ from about 4 onwards. Not the sort of clientele who'd go for that sort of thing! Including us.
We didn't use the restaurant apart from breakfast. Usual thing with some cooked stuff ( roast potatoes!) and some cheese/ meat. It as ok.
All in I'd choose it for the aircon and space to relax and stay cool. It was too hot to really explore Marakech Madina in August so would recommend in the heat. Probably would choose a Riad in cooler times though.

It was from far the worst place we have been through Morocco.
We arrived in the afternoon, it was our last day in Morocco before flying back home.
We had a room on the ground floor. It was past two in the afternoon and there were still no towels. I tried to ask the cleaning staff, they said OK they'll bring (but they did not). Our terrace was the only one with nothing on it, no furniture (others had a table and two chairs at least). I went to the reception desk then to ask for both. They told me we would have them. I can tell you we did not have the furniture during our stay. So we could not have a shower or use the outdoor pool because of the lack of towels. Finally I saw the cleaning woman distributing the towels. They did not give me the towels, she distributed first the other rooms. Finally - without a word - she came into the bathroom and put the towels but we did not have the towels for the pool. I was too tired to argue on.
It was after this that I noticed how dirty our room and especially the bathroom was dirty. That some parts of the cupboard were falling off- I do not say a word. I did not see a dirt like this in whole Morocco.
As to the pool it also did not seem quite clean, there were a lot of people and - of course - no free sunbeds.
In the morning we had our breakfast, and of course it was not fine at all. The food was not good at all and no fresh orange either. The air conditioning was not working there (July in Marrakech).
I do not understand why it has four stars but compared to other hotels in Morocco it deserves only two, but I am convinced that two star hotels are much cleaner than this was. It was not really cheap!

This hotel was very well located in the new town area of the city. The pool was a good size and was clean. Understandably it got busy with a slight shortage of sun loungers at peak times. The hotel staff on the whole were very friendly and helpful. We had 2 rooms a bungalow and a triple room - both had two floors and were brilliant considering the cost. Lots of room and AC. Breakfast was not bad. Although we were there for a stag, there was a good mix of people including families. The location was perfect for getting to the popular nightclubs - for the I would recommend one called Theatro and another called So. Overall good stay and nice place with plenty of culture.

Despite the very different reviews we choose to stay in this hotel. After an almost two weeks during roundtrip through Morocco we were looking for a relaxing place with a large swimming pool for the children .

After reading a lot of reviews we were a little bit worried how the hotel really would be...

We have been there and we really don't understand some (very) negative reviews!!!!

We were staying in a bungalow. Our whole bungalow was on one level (some bungalows have two levels). The bungalow had an own private garden and this garden had a direct connection to the gardens and outdoor pool of the hotel. The bungalow was huge (with marble floor):
- one huge master bedroom with a very large bed with good mattresses (it was more a 3 persons bed!)
- two single sofa beds with really good mattresses too for the children
- a small kitchen with a small fridge so we had cool own drinks
- two bathrooms with showers and one of the bathrooms even had a bath too (four large and four small towels were provided)
- our bungalow was clean

Swimming pool:
- the children liked the swimming pool a lot. The pool was cold but not freezing like the other pools we had in other hotels but the outside temperature during our stay in this hotel maybe warmed up the pool (it was 37 degrees)
- in some reviews we read there were no towels at the swimming pool but they really have a free towel service at the pool (the large blue towels)! Just ask one of the poolboys!
- there are a lot of sunbeds but in the afternoon it's sometimes hard to get one. If you cannot find a sunbed: ask one of the poolboys! Most of the times they know which bed is used and not and they are happy to find a bed for you (with matresses!) and they place the bed where you want!
- the pool was clean

The breakfast was like the other breakfasts we had in the hotels during our roundtrip but you could take as much as you like. The continental breakfast in Morocco we had were normally: fresh orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate milk, pancake, Moroccan bread, 1 peace of sweet bread or croissants, one or two jam, yogurt. The only thing this hotel didn't had for breakfast was fresh orange juice but they had just the orange juice you always get in large hotels with a buffet... All other things were provided and there was more than one choice of sweet bread! They even had cold milk and cornflakes! And also fruit, scrambled eggs and sausages!! And there was plenty even if we had breakfast a little bit late...

The staff at the reception was friendly. After one day they even knew which roomnumber we had (we didn't expect this from such a large hotel).

For dinner we only tried the Italian restaurant and this was good and the prices were not so high as in the other restaurants in this hotel but be aware that the drinks are more expensive than we had in other restaurants in Morocco (normally a softdrink in a restaurant is 10 but max 15 dirham but in this hotel a softdrink was 25 dirham and this is a lot if your meal is only 60 dirham!!)

If you need drinks or snacks: just ask the reception the way to the supermarket. It's 10 minutes walk and there you will find softdrinks for 6 dirham. It's a really large supermarket. So if you are missing something you can get it there (also suncream etc).

The only issue we had during our stay in this hotel was that they clean the room very late and because of that we had no new towels during most of the day. And if the cleaning was done, they took the old towels and with a little bit of luck we had one or two new towels . If you want to take a shower after swimming before going to the medina than it's annyoing that there are no towels. Every day we had to ask the reception for towels which they provided promptly (the towels were earlier in the room than I was!). So improve this thing and everything is perfect.

Are you looking for a relaxing stay outside the medina you really can try this place!

We came to Morocco for 5 days but did not book a hotel, so asked a taxi driver to drive us around hotel area to choose. This was a second hotel we went inside to have a look and decided to check in for 2 nights (in case if we are not going to like it, extended to 4nts later).
Receptionist was vey friendly and chatty with good knowledge of English language.
He also let us know that all double bed rooms are gone and only option is a room with 2 single beds pushed together - did not regret.
The room was clean, with 4 pillows, clean white bedding, towels, as well as sofa, table, TV, and a balcony!!
Breakfast was ok, I had a same breakfast once in 2007 in 3*hotel in Paris - croissants mainly ;)
Swiming pool - amazing, you also get a beach towel if you need one.
Rooms been cleaned everyday, staff was polite, security was very friendly.
Nice lounge, there are really nice restaurants nearby, nice New City area...
No regrets!
P.S. Hire a car! its only 400dirham (about 37pounds) for 24 hours! You are not going to regret it ;)

Room Tip: Bungalows looked nice !

We stayed here as part of an excursion package that took us all over Morocco, both at the beginning and end of our trip. I chose not to upgrade to ta bungalow because we were not planing to spend much time in our room. This vacation was all about getting a true Moroccan immersion. We literally slept and showered here, and that was it, so for the price, it was perfect. Clean, simple and relaxing.

We did have a few meals and they were OK, definitely made to be mild for tourists, which was a turn off for me. We ventured out into Marrakesh for most of our meals. The front counter gave us some excellent places to go that were highly regarded by locals.

A few tips:
- When the front counter recommends a place for you to go, also ask them how much the taxi should be, because they will try to overcharge you. Most tourists don't know any better and will pay up to 300 X what you should be.
- Same with leaving a restaurant, ask them to call you a taxi and what the price should be.
- Other than in the market, it is not a good idea to walk around at night.
- Learn some Moroccan Arabic, the people will be amused and grateful and are more likely to be friendly and give you a fair price. I was able to have so many wonderful conversations and really learn about the people and culture and I don't think that would have been possible if I wasn't trying to communicate and open up first.
- If you are looking for a spa or relaxing vacation spot, you are in the wrong country.

We booked this hotel based on the photo of a lovely pool. Yes the pool area is great and there are plenty of loungers. There is a breakfast and dinner buffet which was convenient but some hot food was going cold. Room was adequate but more like a chalet than a hotel. Wifi only available in the lobby.
