“Lovely large room & very clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for 1 night on a trip from Agadir & where pleasantly surprised. We booked through an agent in Agadir & our room was about £40 for both of us with breakfast. Room was really big with a lovely big bathroom and was immaculate. Breakfast was basic choice but fine - similar to breakfast in Istanbul hotels. Hotel is directly across from the main theatre & a 10 minute walk to shops like Zara etc. you do have to get a taxi to attractions but taxis are inexpensive & always available. As we had travelled here from Agadir, was great to find out hotel was only a few minutes walk from bus station. Lovely hotel - no complaints!

We stayed as a group last week twice on our arrival & 2 nights on our return. Twin room on first night was ok-overlooking main road so noisy & close-too noisy to open window-no apparent air conditioning. Evening meal was passable buffet but not appetising & charge for water excessive. Key failed to work in morning & time wasted up & down to get assisstance. We used the spa & were impressed with massage, although communication failure ended in a massage with a total stranger who booked at the same time!.
Return room disappointing drain blocked, towel rail hanging from screws & safe not working-all reported but no interest.
Colleague tried indoor pool-too cold to swim got refund. Another colleague used hammam & had good massage
Breakfast passable-buffet with pastries, rolls, 'plastic' cheese cucumber, rehydrated scrambled egg, tomato, fresh oranges, boiled egg
Walking distance to medina, souks etc, bus stops outside-open top bus tour worthwhile if tired legs

We spent 4 nights in this hotel. Here are some highlights:

food - you will do better if you don't eat there at all. We purchased breakfast and it was horrible. No choice at all. No nice bread, only some edible pastries. Scrambled egg not edible. Cheese does not taste like cheese. We ended up bringing our own bread and eating it with jam. Even water for this was warm, not even hot. We had to ask for hot water each morning! You can see people looking around and their disappointed faces with the selection they find. Especially that French people like their bread to be nice and English people like their tea to be hot!

location - not great. Located on the main street so very noise all day and night. Moroccans horn all the time and you will hear it all the time too. Even from the side where the pool is there is some air con equipment running very loudly day and night so pool view rooms are not any better. Also, the hotel is right on the other side of the town where there are no attractions at all so you end up walking for 20 mins or paying for a cab each time. You are better off staying near medina where all attractions are based.

sleep quality - the first 3 nights we slept very well. then the crowd arrived for the weekend and we didn't sleep at all. Doors were being clammed on all floor all night long. the building is built in a way that floors are not separated as there is an open space so you hear the noise from all floors all night long.

pool - nice and clean but the sunshine only appears there at 11.50am so forget about a lazy morning in the sunshine. there is only shadow until midday due to the direction of the building. From 12pm it is pretty nice there but very noisy as mentioned above.

Cleanliness - the hotel seems pretty tired but ok for 4 stars. Rooms were very cleaned and cleaned each day very properly so this side of things is fine.

Service - nice and helpful but general standards are pretty low, especially with food, as described above. The lady on the reception was nice and helpful. Staff serving breakfast were helpful too if you asked for something.

Price - we paid £40 per night per person so not really cheap at all. For this price they can surely afford a nice breakfast to be served! And you can be based in/near Medina itself.

Marrakech was hot, and it was a dry heat as well, almost suppressive. The souks were like a time of two thousand years ago where donkeys were the choice for transportation. Snakes were paraded around the main square like trinkets, women tourists had their arms aggressively henna tattooed by the local women, and everybody wants your business: the food sellers, the taxi drivers will stop at the side of the road to offer you a lift, guides will want tipping. It is a crazy, mad place and well worth a visit to experience the diversity, whether it be the vendor with the eye cataract or the dead donkey at the side of the road. Hotel was OK, nothing special and a walk to the main square, although we did get our bed linen displayed into a different shape each morning by the cleaners, granted who wanted tipping.

When i went to Morocco it happened around the summer time. However, I never got the chance to write a review for the staff and what I thought of the hotel. I arrived just before it was getting dark and I could already in hail the smell of the Mediterranean air. Even though it was not that late I was looking forward to jumping in my bed and falling asleep. When I walked in I was amazed and gobsmacked by the lobby. The man at the door gave me a warm Moroccan welcome. In the middle of the lobby was a shining tall chandelier that was amazing. I checked in and the man at the desk was very warm welcoming and made me feel at home. The worker took us to our rooms and all I could say was that it was like paradise. The room was very clean and air conditioned. The maid was helpful and offered us some more shampoo and shower gel. Once I got into bed it was like sleeping on a cushion of air. Comfortable and warm was all I could say. I went downstairs early for breakfast and that's where It got disappointing. The breakfast wasn't all that but to some residents it was fine. There wasn't much to offer and choose from but as always the staff were very helpful. Now it was time to relax and the indoor spa was beautiful and relaxing. The indoor swimming pool was quiet and peaceful. They also have an outdoor one which was cool and freezing. In the evening the staff recommended and told places to go and what to see which was very helpful considering you hardly know anyone in this fine Mediterranean country. After a week of paradise it was time to go home. The staff were really helpful and I would definable recommend the Ryad Mogador hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you go for the middle floor that's where the bigger balcony is.

I booked on expedia for 7 night. The hotel was probably nice when it was build 20 years ago but hasn't had the necessary refurbishment and update needed. I guess for this price you can't ask for much / they can't ask you to pay more for this hotel.
I had booked this one because of the inside swimming pool, but in the end you have to pay £40/ time to access it! That wasn't said in the description.
I had to ask 5 time for a baby cot before they bring it but this is the marrachi way.
We slept there 1 night and move to another hotel. Royal mirage deluxe: great 5stars hotel.
Expedia refunded the 6other nights with no problem

We stayed in Sept 2013 requested a balcony room overlooking the pool and was able to pick up wifi from our room. We found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful and most of the time had the pool all to ourselves.
I would rate this hotel a three star as a lot of the corridor areas were worn and needed updating. Our room was good with a fridge, tv and large bed. The hotel is in a quiet location just along from the station with plenty of food/cafe options on the doorstep. The cafe outside attached to the hotel was excellent.
It was about a 25 min walk into the souks or grab a horse and carriage ride for a change. For the price we paid we couldn't complain so if you want a bargain break away this is a good option.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the pool to pick up wifi in your room.
