The Riad Yasmine is as most previous reviews have stated, a clean, comfortable, friendly hotel. I found the dinners good, but not quite as outstanding as some previous guests. One problem was that the open plan around the courtyard meant that unless all guests were extremely careful you were constantly being disturbed. Every door opening and closing, early and late arrivals, and especially noisy children made for less than a peaceful atmosphere. I also found the location of the Riad problematic. It is really out of the way and the walk to the main square is at least 15-20 minutes, IF you don't get lost. The medina is a maze and even with the map provided by the hotel I never once made it either way without a problem and I have an excellent sense of direction. The instant you show any indication of being uncertain or lost, expect to be descended upon by "guides" who are eager to show you the way. All expect to be paid for their efforts and never once was one satisfied with what I offered; some became quite hostile and threatening. The folks at the hotel assured me I was if anything being overly generous, but that as rich foreigners the opportunity is always taken to try to get more. This occurred with taxis also. Once I was charged six times what the fare should have been and the driver was extremely rude and abruptly put me out short of my destination. Overall, you can probably sense I was not enthralled by Marrakech. The souks were mostly filled very tacky, shoddy merchandise and incredibly high pressure salesmen. Getting out of most stalls was like running a minefield. I definitely won't be returning to Marrakech.

Riad Yasmine has a friendly staff, clean, attractive rooms and good food and is located in a quiet, north section of Marrakech medina. Stayed only one night, so can't comment on much else (location, etc.).

  • Liked — Attractive rooms, friendly staff

What all the previous reviews have said about this Riad are absolutely true! We stayed for 6 nights mid march and didnt regret our choice for a second.

I'm not going to repeat what's been said previously, instead here's a few tit bits of info we picked up while there:

* The handmade map you get given on arrival is OK to get u back to the Riad but ask if they have a proper glossy one of the whole of Marrakech as well.

* We made friends at the Riad with two other couples who had booked an 8 seater taxi to Ourika Valley through the Riad. It was a brilliant day and was great value working out at around £20 each. (Definitely bring good walking shoes tho, it's proper climbing and people in flip flops definitely struggled!)

* The call of prayer is amazing to hear but after a day or two you might not appreciate the 5am call so bring earplugs!!

* Marrakech is lively to say the least so if u fancy a lunchbreak away from mopeds and insistant market sellers then the Riad itself does gorgeous sandwhichs for 40Dr(cheap). I kid u not they are the size of your face (check my photos!) The evening food is excellent too...oh and the free mint tea at 4pm everyday!

* There is a travel size hairdryer in the room which is great if u have short/fine hair but people with thick, long hair like me will definitely need to bring their own.

* There's a list of Spa treatments pinned in the reception of the Riad. We booked the couple treatment for 750Dr which included Hamman and massage. The hamman is a unique experience to say the least!!! Massage fabulous.

* We got the riad to book us into Kosy Bar. Food there was great but priced much like the UK.
We also had cous cous and Tagine overkill so fancied some Thai food at "Narwama" near the big square. Gorgeous decor inside and lovely mojitos. Again priced like UK.

Enjoy Marrakech!!!

My sister and I stayed at Riad Yasmine in early February and we we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect, the ambience is so calming and peaceful and the courtyard is gorgeous. They lit candles all around the courtyard at night and my sister and I could barely believe where we were. The souks are a bit hectic to say the least, so it was nice to come back to the Riad, lay on a cushion by the pool and sip tea in the afternoon. The hotel staff is fabulous and they really made us feel at home. You can't find alcohol many places in the center of Marrakech, so it was nice that the riad served wine. And the dinner is delicious! Most restaurants in Marrakech are very touristy (and not very good), so I would highly recommend eating at the riad one night. Another great restaurant to try is Le Foundouk. It's pricey, but very worth the money. The staff at Riad Yasmine recommended it to me and booked the reservation, so I thank them for showing us the best sites in Marrakech. We showed up without any idea what to do in Marrakech and the staff of Riad Yasmine planned our entire 3 days. We couldn't imagine a better plan! The rooms at the riad are not overly luxurious, but they are clean and have tvs and wireless internet. They are decorated in traditional Moroccan style which was nice. This is a great hotel if you don't require 5 star American/European-standard hotels and if you want to relax in a beautiful Moroccan oasis. I highly recommend a visit.

We would echo a lot of the comments made on this forum about the Riad Yasmine.
WE came here for a 3 night stay to celebrate my 40th birthday and were totally delighted by our experience.
We arranged a taxi with the riad to pick us up....more expensive than any amount that the guide books recommended, but as this was our first time in Marrakesh, we wanted to be sure that we found the riad.
Our plane was delayed and we didn't arrive till nearly 9.00pm , the riad managed to make us the most delicious dinner. (The almond pastilla was a delight!!)
The Riad Yasmine is certainly an oasis and we were glad that we stayed here as we found Marrakesh to be a big culture shock. We were unprepared for the amount of people, animals, taxis etc on the small winding streets and found it a little stressful walking to the main square, being accosted by lots of people. By Day 2 we had become more accustomed to it and although it wasn't a problem we are quite reserved and it took some getting used to.
All in all we had a fabulous time in this exciting city; we would recommend the Riad Yasmine and would certainly choose to stay here again.
