My husband and i have just returned from a four night stay in this beautiful riad right in the heart of the Medina. We stayed in one of their suites and I have yet to stay in a hotel bedroom with so much character and with a real sense of authentic luxury! The sunken bath in the bathroom was a delight and we enjoyed sampling the local body products provided. We had an open fire which was set daily (or even twice daily) which we enjoyed returning to in the evening. They were kind enough to even light the fire for us returning at night - real pampering! The weather was warm enough for us to enjoy the wonderful breakfasts on the roof terrace. One night we dined in the Riad and had the most amazing exquisite Moroccan meal in the privacy of our own dining room again with a roaring fire adding to the intimacy. Monika and her staff are incredibly welcoming .
One word of warning- you may think you know your way back to the riad at night but you probably don't! Many a young boy would help us find the riad in the dark but they generally take the long route as they think their tip will be increased if they have been walking that bit longer!

  • Liked — The character and luxurious decor as well as the quality of service

Riad Monika
I stayed at this sumptuous Riad at the beginning of February, in the off-season time and I was totally blown away by the whole experience. The Rose (Warda) suite is simply stunning – the architecture and decor of the room were top-class and enchanting. Everything you needed was in the room and thoughtful little touches like fresh fruits & exquisite flowers, bottled water, elegant bathrobes and a ready-to-light open fire made it feel like your own hideway sanctuary.
Everywhere I went I found yet more luxury in this lovely Riad– the sunloungers on the roof terrace were very high quality, the plunge pool was crystal clear and set in beautiful surroundings, you sunk into the deep welcoming sofa cushions in the various tented daybed areas and enjoyed a drink and snacks whilst warming yourself in front of a roaring fire in the cosy lounge.
Breakfast was a feast which set you up for the day and the service was first class. This is a signature Riad that I cannot recommend highly enough! Monika herself was so welcoming, her staff were impeccable in their comportment – almost anticipating your requirements before you asked, but they were unobtrusive and it was the most peaceful haven of luxury that you could asked for.
I will definitely stay there again and anyone who has the opportunity to stay in the heart of old Marrakech should make a bee-line for this wonderful Riad.

  • Liked — Calm, hidden oasis of luxury
  • Disliked — Would be difficult to find without help from the Riad

WOW! We had such an wonderful time in Riad Monika. The location of the riad could not be better, in the heart of the medina, yet not in a noisy place, close to all major monuments within the medina.
The Riad itself is absolutely stunning! It is very cosy and comfortable, 5 rooms only so you're guaranteed not to live an hotel-like experience. The staff is working hard to insure you're having a perfect time there. You HAVE to eat at least once there. Zouhir wife is probably the best cook EVER! Lovely!
All in all, this riad is a gem we would definitly recommend it to anyone willing to have a beautiful stay in Marrakech. Wonderful Staff, amazing location, exclusive riad = best possible stay in Marrakach you can ever dream of!

I made frienda with all of the maids, so every day we would hang out and I would go help the maids, talk to them, and just hang out! We also made friends with Monika! If anyone ever wants to stay in the old part of Marrakech you should stay there! We had a great time! I only have great things to say about it!

We booked after doing an internet search and thought the photos of the Riad looked nice. But it wasn't just nice it was superb. It is owned by a retired French couple who live at the Riad but run by a local Moroccan manager. The manager speaks English very well but the owners have no real english.

After entering through the door in one of those rundown walls that are the Marrakech Madina it is like stepping through to another world - one of pure luxury and calm. The property was formally four houses around two courtyards and has been completely demolished and reconstructed over a four year period, opening one year ago to guests. The owner is a retired French Architect and he has researched everything to establish exactly what the original form and decoration should be. The property is a dream of a place to explore in itself or just relax on the rooftop under the bedouin style canopied enclosure.

Food in the Riad, if taken, is wonderfully cooked by the manager's wife. And they take such care to provide a magnificant setting for you to relax and enjoy the meal in real style. A total of 12 staff were looking after just 6 rooms, so service is excellent - bedrooms efficiently made up each morning whilst we had breakfast on the roof terrace. Although we ate out most days, costs for snacks and drinks at the Riad were very reasonable and no hint of being ripped off.

All in all a great place to stay if you want to experience the world that is Marrakech. It is located within the Medina and just north of the main area of the Souks (29 Hart Soura) and about a 10-15 minute walk from the main square in the Medina (nearer 25 minutes on the first walk as you have to discover your way there through the mayhem of the Souks but plenty of willing guides for a few Euros!)

The manager will arrange taxi from/to the airport and any other trips you care to want. He'll book you into the local restaurants and arrange for someone from the restaurant to come and walk you there if you're unsure of the route. Call him on number on their web site or contact via email.

The bedrooms rooms are magnificant too - best is to take a look at their web site ---------- and see for yourself.

I would certainly recommend it to you.

  • Liked — Peace and quiet in a building with such architecturasl richness
  • Disliked — Bathroom was a great architectural feature but bath itself not comfortable if you wanted a lie and a soak!
  • Tips/Secrets: — Don't miss it.
