After tirelessly researching trip advisor, my mother and I decided on Dar Silsila for our 4 night stay in Marrakesh. We were both delighted with our choice! Simply put expect excellent service, charming facilities, and an immaculately clean, pleasantly decorate room. Jean Patric is a courteous, thorough, and thoughtful host. He cares about the safety and enjoyment of his clients and wants you to love his city as much as he does.
He assisted us in booking excursions to the mountain regions, gave us excellent restaurant recommendations, and went so far as to give us a lift to the train station in his own car (we had an early train and he was concerned that we wouldn't be able to hail a cab). The staff was polite and very helpful. The breakfast was simple but delicious. The rooftop terrace was a lovely place to relax and unwind after a long day of wandering around Marrakesh. Fair warning, the entrance to the hotel is down a winding alley, that I swear will make you wonder what your getting into, but once you step in the door you will see what everyone on this forum is talking about. Our stay was a pleasure, and the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 week trip through Morocco. I truly can't say enough good things about this place.

Not only is this quiet, attractive riad located in the medina, but it offers the kind of warm hospitality and attention that you just can't get at an upscale hotel. It seems that Jean Patrick and his friendly staff were always thinking of ways to make our stay in Marrakech even better.

My husband and I spent 5 days in the riad (4 nights in a deluxe room, 1 night in a standard room--both were comfortable and attractive). The riad is beautifully decorated, the beds and linens were fantastic, and fresh flowers were a homey touch. We loved eating breakfast in the morning or enjoying wine or mint tea at sunset on the roof terraces while listening to the Muslim call to prayer from 5 different mosques! At the same time, we found our room to be very quiet and hardly heard anything when we slept. We also took advantage of the fast WiFi located in the public areas of the riad.

But the real treasure is Jean Patrick and his staff! He arranged a Moroccan cooking class that was one of the big highlights of our trip, conducted in a nearby riad. He also set us up with a 3 day tour of the Atlas mountains and desert, including a magical experience riding camels out into the Sahara in Merzuga. We slept in Berber tents under the stars and shared music/drumming with people from 8-9 countries. It was a rugged trip, not for everyone (we're in our 60's but seasoned travelers) but with interesting people and an amazing experience. Jean Patrick even loaned me his own fleece jacket because we thought I would be cold. One day I admired some Moroccan music that was playing in one of the lounges and the next day he gave me a CD of the music!! He doesn't do these things just because it's good for business-- I think he truly likes people. He takes to heart any criticism of Dar Silsila.

The breakfasts included delicious homemade yogurt, good strong coffee, pancakes and or breads with tasty local honey and jams. They even provided us a small breakfast when we had to leave at 6:45am. We hated to inconvenience the staff but it was so nice to head out for our long trip with coffee and food in our bellies. The main danger in this riad is to over exploit the generosity of our hosts!

We were happy to follow the advice of other reviewers in accepting the transport to and from the airport. This place is hard to find and, after 20 hours of travel, we appreciated not having to deal with taxi drivers. We thought we would get lost in the medina, with its winding narrow lanes but after the first day, we realized it wasn't difficult at all. We also ordered the delicious dinner in the riad on the night we arrived. Air Maroc was delayed 3-4 hours so our arrival was quite late--still the driver was waiting for us and so was our excellent dinner.

We would recommend this riad to anyone who wants a special experience in Marrakech!

We have just come back from 5 wonderful days in Marrakech a part of our honeymoon. We enjoyed every second of our stay, the Riad is beautiful, our room was gorgeous. The staff, Mohammed and the girls, were unbelievable, nothing was ever too much to ask, we have stayed in 5 star luxury hotels around the world, yet the way we were treated matched anyone of them, if not bettered them. We cant wait to go back!

Dal silsila was exactly as it was billed, cool calm and comfortable with charm and character making it a fabulous place to stay, and even better with the level of service provided. Jean Patrick went out of his way personally to ensure we had a very special hoiday experience on our first romantic break away as a new couple!
Being met by a curtious local driver, we were dropped off in the medina (old town) and led through the bustling streets to arrive in to the cool court yard, to mint tea and delicious home maid biscuits, which were a welcome treat after an early morning and hours of travelling!

Jean Patrick provided a great welcome, even when he was slightly under the weather himself. He was on hand throughout the duration of our stay, even bringing extra bread on to the terrace for breakfast! He gave great recommendations of how to make the most of our 5 day stay there..

We loved returning to a friendly face of one of the staff at the end of a hectic day in the square and souks and were overjoyed at the cool drinks brought up to the terrace when relaxing in the evening sunshine.

When we returned from dinner, our room was always made up with a sepcial surprise including red roses on our pillows!! It was like we were staying in a special honey moon suite!

All in all, we would highly recommend Dar Silsila as a fantastic place to stay, that made Marrakech even more enjoyable and the personal touches made it even more special.....

Lovely place with very welcoming staff and faultless service. Hidden down a narrow alley - as are most of the small riads in the city - but relatively easy to locate and very conveniently situated a few minutes walk from the main square and with all the main sights of the Medina within easy walking distance. Breakfasts limited in choice but very good quality and served on the roof terrace. Evening meals provided when ordered in advance and well worth having - we only had one during our stay, as we like to try different places, but it was easily the best. If you're used to big hotels where everything is predictable and you are anonymous amidst all the other guests, then Dar Silsila might not be for you. But it has real charm and style and does what it does as well as anyone could. Thankyou Mohamed, Jean Patrick and all the team for helping to make our stay in Marrakech so enjoyable.

I spent 5 glorious days at Riad Dar Silsila to celebrate my mothers 60th Birthday. We wanted a special, memorable holiday and the staff at the Riad made sure that was what we recieved. Thank you so much to Fouad and and the rest of the staff for looking after all of us so well and ensuring that my mother and the rest of our party had a great holiday. I have no doubt that we'll be back again soon - you were all great!

A Beautiful setting with wonderfully friendly and attentive staff - thank you.
