“Unforgettable experience!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

We went to Casa Lalla end of October for our 10 years anniversary. Guest driver Hassan was waiting for us and took us to the hotel while on the car we start admiring the unique life of Marrakech. We were looking to run away from the chaotic London and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Marrakech (chaotic as well in his way!) and relax and experience the unique atmosphere of a typical Riad. The position is really close to the Jemaa Fna. However when we walk through the amazing door of the Riad we where embrace by the quietness, elegancy and unique atmosphere of the Riad.
Co-owner Pierre-Olivier was waiting just inside and gave us a superb welcome. He took in the dining room and beside a wonderful fire place and lovely candles he provides us with a superb story of Marrakech and a lovely aperitif. We went into our room, beautiful decorated in the typical Riad style. Following a wonderful shower we went down to the reputed restaurant of the Riad. It was an amazing experience from various prospective, cuisine, service, atmosphere! The overall time in Casa Lalla has been superb, from the morning breakfast on the terrace across the overall stay! The additional uniqueness of this Riad is back to the two owner Pierre-Olivier and Annabel, two genuine person that are making everyone guests feeling at home! And this is the beauty of any Riad and this is the reason why we loved them. We experience others in the past but Casa Lalla as a magic touch!

Room Tip: All rooms and suites have their own style and uniqueness. As we love the fire place we choosed the s...

“Stylish romantic tranquil riad just a few meters from vibrant Jemaa el Fna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011

We stayed at Casa Lalla for a week in September and had an amazing time. This hidden Riad just a few meters from Jemaa Fna has been conceived and exquisitely decorated by owners Pierre-Olivier and Annabel.

Their driver Hassan will pick you up at the airport (their treat) and bring you through some narrow alleyways, do not let this put you off as the area is really safe and neighbours salute you on your way.
Arrival at the Riad and all of sudden you feel the truly Zen atmosphere, candles everywhere, Moroccan lanterns and the amazing courtyard make this place look as taken from an article in VOGUE or GRAZIA magazines. Pierre-Olivier and Anabel have really managed to build a stylish yet affordable oasis in central Marrakesh.

The rooms are all different and feature tasteful Morrocan art pieces and furnishings, the bathrooms are really beautiful and have Moroccan style washbasins and baths. Prices vary per room and start at 75Eur per night which is amazing given the proximity to Jemaa el Fna and the 5-star atmosphere. We were offered the choice between two rooms and picked the one upstairs; we were supposed to stay at the Riad for 4 nights but changed our plans and made it a 7 night stay instead –this says it all! ;-)

We spent our time walking up and down the lively souks, visiting beautiful Marrakesh and surroundings but also chilling by the sunbeds at Casa Lalla's fabulous roof terrace.
You do feel welcome and looked after, Pierre and Annabel are there day in and day out and advice you on where to go, what to do and even how much you should pay for all sort of activities in and around Marrakesh. Their staff is also very helpful and respectful and always have a smile for you.
We have had a wonderful stay and have enjoyed our conversations with Pierre-Olivier who could always find the time for a chat. We also tasted his cooking; which happened to be delicious! The Riad is also one of the best restaurants in Marrakesh that features in fancy restaurant and travel guides. Our meal at Casa Lalla was the best we had whilst in Marrakesh, tender exquisite melt-in-your-mouth lamb tagine we will never forget!

All in all ... a gorgeous & enchanting Riad we highly recommend and one experience we hope to be able to repeat ourselves!

Room Tip: All rooms were beautiful but the ones on the first floor have a lovely view over the courtyard.

“Great Hotel, Great food, Great People”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2011

We stayed at Casa Lalla in late May and early June, either side of a walking trip in the Atlas. The hotel was fabulous and a welcome refuge from the sights and sounds of the Medina. Annabel, Pierre and all the staff at the Hotel were fantastic..nothing was too much trouble, they catered for our every need. We ate in the hotel on a couple of occasions, the food was superb, service excellent and setting splendid. We are returning to Marrakech next yaer and won't stay anywhere else.

“Heaven on a stick”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2011

A very stylish Riad in the very heart of the Medina. The tasting dinner which is held five times a week and prepared by the owner, Pierre, is a gourmets delight and excellent value for money. Our bathroom and feature bedroom was well equipped and the four poster bed was very comfortable. Pierre and Annabelle's attention to detail and attentive service made this a very special and memorable trip. Thank you.

“Wonderful Casa Lalla does not disapoint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2011

We stayed for two nights at Casa Lalla in April, 2011. This was our first trip to Morocco and Marrakesh. The riad is pristine and beautifully decorated. We loved the muted colors and fabrics and found the roof deck to be wonderfully relaxing.

Because we were traveling for several weeks through Europe (with a short 2-night detour in Marrakesh) we were on a bit of a budget and reserved the least expensive room, which I think was called Songe d'une nuit d'Eté. The room is a mirror image of A l'Ombre des Orangers, also on the ground floor. The room has a large bathroom with walk-in shower. There is a sleeping loft above with nice linens and very comfortable bed. The room was small, yet lovely. If we were not on a budget, we would have upgraded to a larger room. It would have been worth the extra 15 or 20 euros per day to have more space.

The owners were friendly and very helpful with directions and recommendations. We really enjoyed the selection of local breads, fruits and orange juice at breakfast. Be sure to request oeuf' (eggs) with fromage (cheese). Delicious! On our last night we asked to purchase a bottle of wine to drink on the rooftop deck from a member of the restaurant waitstaf. He graciously served us on the roof and even provided some yummy bar snacks as a nice surprise! On the lovely roof deck you feel a hundred miles away from the chaos of the main square...a great memory for us!

The property is in a wonderful location, located off of Rue Riad Zaitoune Lakdime, which is one of the main "streets" that leads to Djemaa el-Fna (5 minutes or less). It's clearly marked with a hand-painted sign "Casa Lalla" at Derb Jamaa. Just follow the signs that lead you through the winding (Derb Jamma) alley.

TIP: You can take the tourist airport shuttle #19 from the airport to bus stop #6. Round-trip fare is 30 dirham (about $4 US). When you get off the bus, walk past Club Med which will be on your left, toward the marketplace Djemaa el-Fna. Once you enter the marketplace’s main square keep right. You'll soon see the area with a concentration of orange juice vendors, take a hard right. Rue Riad Zaitoune Lakdime is the first main "alleyway" on the right. (If you get to the souks near the back of Djemaa el-Fna you’ve gone too far.) Rue Riad Zaitoune Lakdime is too narrow for cars...only pedestrians and scooters. Follow Rue Riad Zaitoune Lakdime for a few minutes and keep watch overhead for the "Casa Lalla" sign at Derb Jamaa (on your left). Knowing this would have saved us much frustration and about $10 in unnecessary cab fare and bag service. I also believe Casa Lalla will arrange transportation if you are staying three nights or longer.
