“The Riad Jonan is the perfect place to stay in Marrakech!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2010

We stayed one week at Riad Jonan and had the most wonderful time !
Martyn, Howard and their excellent staff made us feel more than welcome. All were extremely attentive and went out of their way to give us invaluable tips about Marrakech, make recommendations and reservations – basically made our stay in Morocco unforgettable.

Riad Jonan is perfectly situated, within the Medina and within easy and safe walking distance to all the important places.

Having spent a day in the buzzing streets of Marrakech or returning from a day trip to the Atlas Mountains or Essaouira, it was a pleasure to return to the riad, be welcomed “home” and spend the rest of the evening on one of the lovely roof terraces.

The riad is beautifully decorated and our room was stunning. Every morning we looked forward to the delicious breakfast, especially the fresh fruit and home made yoghurt!
Riad Jonan is the perfect place for a tranquil and peaceful stay, whilst enjoying the hustle and bustle of Marrakech.

Thank you, Howard, Martyn and all the staff for a wonderful and unforgettable holiday. For sure we will return to Marrakech and most definitively to Riad Jonan.

This place is so beautiful. A taste of Morocco in the most comfortable way. The owners are British and manage this place with extreme cure for any details. Architecture, furnitures, atmosphere, tasty food, helpful and kind staff. We have been so spoiled during our 4-day stay that leaving the Riad was always a pain. Position is excellent for a walk in the Medina. Although right in the Casbah the Riad is so peaceful and quiet. Order a Moroccan meal one day in advance, it will be part of your travelling memoirs. I really suggest this place for romantic (long) week end, or restful break, as well as spiritual quest. One of the best hotel I have ever been.

Riad Jonan was a perfect place to base ourselves in the heart of Marrakech. It is situated off Rue de Kasbar, down a quiet narrow street and is approximately a 15 minute walk from the main square along the main street and a 10 minuite through the narrow streets of the kasbar. The Riad was just perfect and provided a restful and cool haven of calm after a hot day exploring Marrakech. The public spaces and rooms are all beautifully and tastefully decorated. The sun terrace and shaded areas on the roof are perfect for relaxing or eating breakfast or dinner.
Martin and Howard are fabulous hosts. Their relaxed approach, advice and attentiveness added greatly to the enjoyment of our holiday.
A gem in a wonderful city.

A warm welcome from two owners.Good recommendations on where to eat etc.
An amazing city, pity about the weather. The Riad cooked super traditional meals on request.Historical sights nearby.Good value for money and would highly recommend to
other prospective travellers The owners are English and have obviously spent a great deal of time studying traditional Moroccan design.

We had a fantastic stay at Riad Jonan, choosing it on recommendation from a colleague. Everything about it was great, in terms of location (right in the heart of the old town), service (all staff were very welcoming, gave us some great recommendations and spoke very good English), and food (the best meal we ate in Marrakech was here).

Tip: you must book the airport transfer. You will not find it otherwise!

If I had one criticism, I would have liked it if they took credit cards. I found transferring funds into a UK bank account a little unprofessional / daunting, and would not have done so had the Riad not been personally recommended.

Thank you for your review, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and your kind postive comments.
Re accepting Credit cards. We find that when guests make a payment by Bank transfer the guests is in complete control of this transaction and the payment is instant and with no additional costs. This is a usual method of payment which most guests prefer and find it to be a professional method. For those guests not in the UK banking system we can accept a credit card payment but this has a surcharge as with most credit card transactions.

Thanks to Howard for looking after us , plus his trusty 8 members of staff, Aziz is a great assistant manager and all the other staff are always smiling and helpful.
We had a couple of meals at the Riad which were lovely especially the Morroccan selection,
Took a day trip up to the Atlas Mountains taking in a local trade market, it still amazes me what the locals can make from reinforcing bars!
Did the usual Souks, they go on for miles, and we always feel secure in any part of Marrakech.
Looking forward to our 4th trip to Marrakech.
