The review below said Riad Jonan's not good enough for money. I have a completely opposite opinion. You are looking at this review mostly because you can't afford those rank in the very top position here at Tripadvisor (which normally cost EUR 100+). At Riad Jonan, you pay only as low as GBP55 for the standard room and you get a very cosy, clean and friendly place to stay. Doesnt this simply represent good value for money?

Howard and Martyn are good host who are committed to providing an enjoyable experience to guest. This riad is well run. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is superb.

I booked an airport transfer, a dinner at Le Comptoir Restaurant and the Atlas Mountain trip through the raid.

I think airport transfer is a must-book item, though honestly it is cheaper to get a taxi instead. The Medina is like a maze. Even you can get to Rue de la Kasbah on your own, I am 90% sure you will not be able to find the riad without seeking help from someone.

Le Comptoir is a very posh restaurant. Thanks to Howard for getting us a car to there. Prices at this restaurant are very steep. So, my suggestion is, don't order anything like Tagine or Couscous which you can get from any restaurants at Djemma el Fna for 1/4 of the price. Order something more special. Then sit back and enjoy the belldancing show. (If you are after the food only, instead of the experience, dont go to this restaurant.)

For the trip to Atlas Mountain, the climbing was interesting, but was also quite scary at certain points. You also have the chance to see Berber market and Berber village.

Certainly, the standard room at Riad Jonan is quite basic. No in-room TV and the room is quite small. Also, walking to Djemma el Fna may take a good 15-20 mins. However, overall, I feel happy to have booked Riad Jonan.

We had 4 fabulous days and nights at this Riad. The owners were extremely helpful and the staff all delightful. The interior is beautiful and the little dog is a poppet!
Delicious breakfast, charming staff and they arranged airport transfers so there was no problem finding it. Personally, I'd say its location is perfect-just out of the mayhem but near enough to walk to it! Highly recommended, especially for first timers.

We could have chosen to have stayed at one of the many riads now in Marrakesh for a return trip. However having had a fantastic stay at Riad Jonan on our first holiday to Marrakech. We felt we could not take the chance and stay anywhere but the Riad Jonan. Were we dissappointed ,things are not always the same on return visits. NO we had an absolutely brilliant time. The Riad had been extended to include a plunge pool and we stayed in one of the bedrooms on the newly developed part of the riad. Divine! The liitle touches of dressing gowns and TV's just set this apart from the other riads we had inquired upon. The food is to die for and would highly reccomend a night in at the riad sampling the true tastes and flavours of genuine Morracan food,It tasted better than some of the restaurants we visited and better value. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at the Riad, no matter what the request. You simply won't find a nicer and more relaxing riad in Marrakech. Highly recommend for any first, second or third time visitors!

Just back today from a 3 night stay. We were warmly welcomed with tea & pastries and given lots of good helpful advice by the owners. The room was very comfortable and clean with tv and music system. The whole house was calm and beautifully presented. The staff were extremely courteous and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. After a hectic day out exploring, this Riad was a very welcoming and relaxing place to return to. We were given help with cabs and trip advice for our short stay. As a result, we made the most of our time in Marakech. We didn't really know what to expect of the city itself, it was a fascinating experience. Being situated in the heart of the Medina gives you a real insight and you see what daily life is really like for the inhabitants. I don't think you would be as able to say this if you were to stay in one of the many large hotels in the more affluent areas of the new town. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Riad to anyone wanting to see the "real" Marakech. Once seen never forgotten!

Decent enough riad for the price I suppose, it's clean and the breakfasts were ok. Our bathroom and the ground floor smelt of the drains for the duration of our stay which wasn't particularly pleasant.

It's a bit of a walk to the main square across a couple of busy roads, for those looking to be right in the Medina I'd look elsewhere.

The major downside to this "riad" is the attitude of the english owner. He's not particularly friendly or helpful and appears more concerned with money than the welfare of his guests. He has a patronising attitude in stark contrast to the Moroccan people he has working for him.

We have built our reputation on being welcoming, helpful and indeed friendly, as the overwhelming number of reviews will tell you.
To be honest, there was a problem for three days with smells coming from the drains, this was due to the authorities pumping out a blockage in our street. That has been dealt with and there is no longer any smell!.

Sadly, there are times, that no matter what you do, you cannot please everyone. particuarly those that come determined to be difficult and unpleasant. Such is life!. we are however, grateful for the vast majority of guests that stay and enjoy all that riad Jonan has to offer. thank you.
