The review below said Riad Jonan's not good enough for money. I have a completely opposite opinion. You are looking at this review mostly because you can't afford those rank in the very top position here at Tripadvisor (which normally cost EUR 100+). At Riad Jonan, you pay only as low as GBP55 for the standard room and you get a very cosy, clean and friendly place to stay. Doesnt this simply represent good value for money?
Howard and Martyn are good host who are committed to providing an enjoyable experience to guest. This riad is well run. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is superb.
I booked an airport transfer, a dinner at Le Comptoir Restaurant and the Atlas Mountain trip through the raid.
I think airport transfer is a must-book item, though honestly it is cheaper to get a taxi instead. The Medina is like a maze. Even you can get to Rue de la Kasbah on your own, I am 90% sure you will not be able to find the riad without seeking help from someone.
Le Comptoir is a very posh restaurant. Thanks to Howard for getting us a car to there. Prices at this restaurant are very steep. So, my suggestion is, don't order anything like Tagine or Couscous which you can get from any restaurants at Djemma el Fna for 1/4 of the price. Order something more special. Then sit back and enjoy the belldancing show. (If you are after the food only, instead of the experience, dont go to this restaurant.)
For the trip to Atlas Mountain, the climbing was interesting, but was also quite scary at certain points. You also have the chance to see Berber market and Berber village.
Certainly, the standard room at Riad Jonan is quite basic. No in-room TV and the room is quite small. Also, walking to Djemma el Fna may take a good 15-20 mins. However, overall, I feel happy to have booked Riad Jonan.
