“A ray of sunshine and calm.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

My husband and I stayed in the riad between 16th March until 22nd March 2013 and couldn't have had a better experience. Muriel and Laurent were wonderful hosts, and their staff are hard working, courteous and eager to assist.

Muriel and Laurent work opposite day shifts so we were greeted on day one by Muriel who gave us an excellent and useful chat on the pros and cons of staying in Marrakech, the best places to visit and a couple of places to eat. During our chat we were served with mint tea and Moroccan cakes (flavoured with orange blossom, excellent). She made us feel very welcome and as if we were the most important people to visit. (Of course I'm sure that every guess will feel that way too).

The riad is generous in size with several areas to sit and chill out, it was also was very peaceful. I rarely heard any noise from fellow guests. It is a great escape after all the craziness of the Medina.

We stayed in the Suite Soraya which was beautiful and generous in size. The bed was large, comfortable and firm, with smart cotton sheets. There is a large wardrobe with plenty of hanging space; lounge area, and a smashing shower room; complimentary fresh fruit and mineral water. The safe is one of the smaller size safes, typical of the type you find in most accommodation and this meant I couldn't fit my Ipad inside, however I had no problems at all, the staff came across as honest and considering both myself and my husband left our Ipads in our bedside drawers nothing was ever touched. (Obviously you would be taking your own risks in this situation but I can only speak as I find).
The room is It is a lovely calm environment with mellow lighting. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room but the staff will happily bring you some.

Whist the staff can not speak much English (with the exception or Muriel and Laurent) they had no problems understanding any requests we made for tea or coffee etc.. (Incidentally if you require a "normal" cup of tea ask for Lipton).

Top tip…. After a long day out and about Muriel said to make sure we used the pool and suggested it would be fine to bring the bathrobes down from our room and to sit and dip our sore feet in the pool whilst sipping mint tea and enjoying some super little cakes (all free and subsequently part of our every day routine).

Breakfast was great, always plentiful and fresh. Typically consisting of bread, soft cheeses (Laughing Cow), fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade crumpets, chocolate croissants, tea or coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice (and if you can possible manage anything else) eggs!

On our last day we checked out at midday, but our flight wasn’t until late afternoon. Laurent said this was not a problem and to treat the place as our home, so we sunbathed on the roof terrace whilst our cases were taken care of.

When it was time to leave I have to say we had grown very fond of the Muriel, Laurent and all of their team. They should be very proud of what they have achieved. I would not hesitate to go back and stay at the riad again. (We were very sad to leave)

We stayed in the riad for 3 nights in room Aicha. We enjoyed the riad - it is very beautifully made in a traditional style, has a lot of quiet areas to relax with couches, magazines and free tea & coffee. The terrace is nice, sunny with lounge chair. The owners are very nice and helpful, making you feel really welcome. They recommended us places to go incl. restaurants, shops, which turned out to be very good. Our only semi-positive experience was with one of the local helpers, who was not too forthcoming/ friendly and in summary probably has chosen the wrong job. Despite this small drawback, we can warmly recommend the riad and if we go back to Marrakech we will definitely go back to the riad.

This was the first of two Riads we stayed at while in Marrakech. Throughout the booking process, the owners, Muriel and Laurent were very helpful and accommodating. We had wanted to stay four nights, but they only had vacancies for two consecutive nights and said they would be happy to transfer us to our next riad at the end of our stay. Muriel also offered to make dinner reservations and came out to the medina gate to meet us and guide us to the riad upon our arrival.
The Riad itself was beautiful, clean, spacious, and peaceful. The staff was wonderful. Breakfast was great!
They offer free pickup from the airport which is a really touch many other riads don't offer. Free unlimited bottled water and tea and even a little cooler pouch to keep your water cold while out exploring!
We loved our stay and only wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend!

I have to admit, this place really helped make our trip to Marrakech, Morroco one of the most positively memorable ones that I have ever had up to date. The Riad Dar Dialkoum is a beautifully decorated traditional Morrocan home converted into a B&B, - traditional courtyard with orange trees growing around bearing generous fruit and shade, a small but inviting swimming pool, beautiffuly appointed rooms, each with its own character and excellent taste in moroccan artisanal decor and excellent value for money.
A lot can be said for its service as well. The service is excellent too as the owner himself is very friendly and went to chat with us for a good bit as the Riad's home staff served us delectable and home made Morrocan Mint Tea and pastries. It is more amazing than I thought it would be. The simple feeling of enjoying mint tea in the salon before you go out to explore the wonderful and beautiful city so full of character, and again at night in the terrace as you wind down after dinner and just soaking in all the sights and sounds of this wonderful city so full of character and culture. Freshly made French - Moroccan breakfast is served too in the courtyards early in the morning to help guests start out the day in good spirits.
Notable as well is the traditional Moroccan dinner served in the form of tagines and couscous and other authentic Moroccan dishes to help guests get a better feel of moroccan culture and lifestyle. Delicious!
Location-wise, I can say that I really appreciated the fact that it was located within the old medina, (old city) amidst local houses and souks that offer you already plenty of places to explore and sights to soak in. The Riyad's entrance is no fancy lobby as common in hotels but rather just another inconspicuous door along an alley full of door, but it certainly transports you once you enter the portal that leads inside. A safe haven for comfort and relaxation after a full day's adventure throughout Marrakech.
Finally communicating and booking with this hotel and for transportation was very convenient and prompt which warrants another star for this lovely Riad and its wonderful staff! =D

Room Tip: The owner of the hotel was so nice and gave us a complimentary upgrade during our visit as he though...

Intending to spend a few days exploring Marrakech, after reading good TripAdvisor reviews the two of us decided to stay in this hotel – or Riads as they are known here.
The whole experience from initial enquiry, to booking and the stay at the Riad was fast, professional and very friendly. On arrival we were welcomed with Moroccan tea and cakes, and Laurent (the owner, together with his wife Muriel) gave us a very thorough overview of the city and highlighted all the best places to visit. This was invaluable to make the most of our short stay.
Sited near local market streets (used by the Moroccans rather than tourists, and thus very interesting in themselves), the Riad was an ideal place from which to explore wider Marrakech, and a haven of quiet and relaxation from the bustle of souks and tourist spots.
We stayed in the Yasmina suite which was lovely and quiet. Even though the Riad was full, there were lots of places to sit and relax on your own and enjoy a tea or coffee.
Muriel and Laurent, were fantastic, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. For anyone like us wanting to explore Marrakech, it is hard to imagine a better place to stay. Many thanks.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Yasmina Suite - it was wonderful. I imagine all the rooms are fantastic.

This was our first time in Marrakech and was made superb due to the brilliant stay with hosts Muriel and Laurent who made us feel special, even with a fully booked riad, gave excellent advice on what to do, where to go and how to do it. The property is delightful, spotlessly clean, gave a true Moroccan feeling yet felt safe within the madness of the medina. If its your first time then make sure you go to riad Dar dialkoum and you will be pleased that you did. Thank you to our hosts for making our few days so very wonderful. Unfortunately our only slight negative was a hard bed although this certainly didn't take anything away from our stay.

Room Tip: Some lovely rooms but the suites are superb, we were in suite leila.

Muriel and Laurent are excellent hosts- they make you really welcome and answer any questions you might have whilst being discreet and giving you plenty of space. The riad is right in the heart of Marrakesh down a slightly bewildering alley way (thankfully the free airport transfer made it easy and stress free to locate). Everything about the place is beautifully finished and attention to detail is really good. The unlimited bottled water, mint tea and fresh fruit were great for setting you up for the heat of Marrakesh. We ate in two nights and the food was excellent both times. We were also travelling with our 16 month son and while there is no doubt that riads aren't the easiest location for curious toddlers we were made to feel so welcome with him- cot and high chair provided and the loan of a buggy offered.
