“Perfect in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

There were 8 of us (including 3 young children) who stayed at Dar Dialkoum for one week - our stay was absolutely perfect in every way! The staff were attentive to all our needs, the Riad was beautiful, immaculately clean, peaceful and perfectly located (12-15 minute walk to the main square and souks). The owners (Laurent and Muriel) were extremely helpful and generous and made every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Khatija, Sakina, Amina and Jamila were wonderful and always available to help. We have absolutely no regrets with our choice and highly recommend this Riad to anyone visiting Marrakesh!

“beautiful riad and amazing staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

I stayed here for 8 nights with a friend and we found Muriel an Laurent great hosts and their staff of 6 ladies fantastic. A special mention to Aminia who is a real treasure, and is doing a great job learning English. We stayed in rooms Hannah and Mikala which were ideal as they are the only rooms on that floor and are towards the back of the riad. All our meals were lovely and after a few days the riad feels like your own home. We were picked up from the airport, even though our flight from Australia was over an hour late the driver waited and gave us a very good introduction to Marrakech on the drive to the riad. The street leading in to the riad was quite overwelling for us at first, however the area is very safe and easy to find your way around and there are always taxi's about, which for our first attempt Muriel escorted us down and showed us how it was done and what to pay. I can only support the previous reviews and I hope to travell back again vey soon.

Room Tip: Hannah and Mikalia are great rooms for people travelling together and are quieter.

“Absolutely perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

From the very first email reply that I received, Riad Dar Dialkoum exceeded my expectations. Muriel and Laurent (the owners) were always responsive to my inquiries before we arrived and continued their amazing service during our stay at the riad. They helped us organize drivers from the airport to the riad and from the riad to the bus station (and back) for our trip to Essaouira. They offered to store our luggage while we were in Essaouira and provided recommendations for restaurants, sights and even where to buy a suitcase (as one of ours was starting to break). The entire staff at the riad was professional, friendly and courteous and they perfected the balance between attentive and respecting of the guests' privacy and desire to be alone at times.

The location of the riad is perfect - close to one of the entrances to the medina so that you don't get massively lost trying to return home at the end of the day, in a residential part of the medina so that it's quiet and peaceful, but still in the medina so that you're only steps away from the action. The riad is beautifully and tastefully decorated and the rooms are comfortable, clean and make you feel at home. We got a free upgrade during our stay to one of the nicest rooms, which I thought was a lovely gesture by Muriel and Laurent.

I highly recommend ordering the welcome dinner upon arrival. After long flights from Toronto to London and then to Marrakech, we were happy that Muriel and Laurent had suggested a fantastic dinner menu at the riad for us (at a reasonable price). The chef at the riad is fantastic - our welcome dinner (featuring many Moroccan appetizers, a wonderful chicken, lemon and olive tajine and a fantastic dessert pastilla) was one of our favourite meals in Morocco (and we were in the country for 3 weeks). The complimentary breakfast was also one of our favourites in Morocco - tons of fruit, eggs, the list goes on and on. The riad also provided unlimited complimentary mint tea and bottled water. The owners' generosity was heartwarming as they even provided us with large bottles of water before we departed for Essaouira to make sure we'd stay hydrated during our bus trip.

I can honestly say that this riad is one of the best places that I've ever stayed at (and I've travelled a fair bit around the world). Thank you, Muriel, Laurent and your staff, for a wonderful stay in Marrakech. I'll be sure to recommend this riad to everyone I know.

“Great Riad with wonderful owners !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Myself and my partner spent 6 nights in this Riad in October 2012. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice : The location is perfect, just in the center of Marrakech, close to the souks and easy walking distance to all of the medina and the new city. The riad is also huge, beautifully decorated mostly with local items, and very quiet. The terrace is really lovely with a great view on all the medina and the Atlas mountains (with snow !). The prices were very reasonable for such a big room (junior Suite Yasmina - with an incredible big and beautiful bathroom). We ate our first evening with the discovery menu and were charged 20 euros each for a 5 course meal, with tea and local home made pastries, and mineral water at will. The other drinks are very reasonable. It also turned out to be one of the best meals we had on the holiday. The breakfasts are great too, served without limit of time ! One of the best reason to stay here however has got to be the service which was more personal and helpful than I have ever come across. Muriel gave us on our arrival advice on what to do and see. Their staff are very kind (all berbers women). Laurent was very nice too, really helpful with a lot of tips and recommendations (hammam, restaurants, excursions, shopping). We saw other guests from all over the world (Finland, UK, USA, Canada and Australia), and the 'melting pot' was perfect. They were all looking very happy !

Thank you Muriel and Laurent : your riad is wonderful and we had a great time with you ! Kisses to you lovely Hannah.

Helen & David.

Room Tip: The Junior Suite Yasmina is perfect, very big with a little balcony on the main patio. Great bathroo...

“Good location, sterling service, calm oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

This is a very nice place to stay and the service really is first class. Inside it is quite modern, decoration wise, but still very Moroccan, with lots of authentic attention to detail. It’s not difficult to find either, we learned our way quite quickly and only got lost once. There is an open courtyard with trees so there was birdsong, where we had breakfast every day, and dinner on the night we dined in. You can also eat breakfast on the roof, but we had breakfast quite late every day so we preferred the courtyard. There are places to sit and relax, with magazines and books in French and English, if you don’t want to be in your room, several around the hotel so you feel like you have it to yourself, and there are mint tea and water complimentary at any time. There are loungers on the roof, and a tented area with sofas. On our first day, Muriel spent time with us giving us clear directions and lots of advice how to get around. She also gave us a big bottle of water in a carrier, and told us to drink lots. There is wifi in the hotel but only in the lounge area downstairs near the office. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable with places to sit and small tables, and have complimentary fruit and water, and a safe. Breakfast is excellent, very generous and varied with different breads and pancakes every day, and is also on demand so you can have breakfast whatever time you like. The ladies were kind enough to give me a demonstration how to make Moroccan mint tea as well. There is a plunge pool in the courtyard, and when we were in it, they brought us Moroccan pastries with the tea we ordered. Nearby you are in easy walking distance of the Majorelle Gardens, the Place Jemaa El Fna where we ate whenever we didn’t eat at the hotel, and the Souk. The souk is very touristy, but on the route to Jamaa El Fna via the nearby mosque, you pass lots of stalls and shops for the locals, which feels much more authentic. Also near the Mosque is a good massage place; the hotel organised appointments on our day of arrival and the massage was really good. You are only ten minutes by car from the airport, and about 15 from the train station, and one of the transfers was complimentary. You pay the hotel for the other, so you don’t have to worry about not having enough money at the end, or arguing with the driver.
