“Beautiful and peaceful Riad with lovely hosts who really look after you and make you feel at home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

My friend and I stayed at the Riad 4 nights and couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming and peaceful place. The Riad is beautiful and the owners Laurent and Muriel make you feel at home. Its the perfect location as its just inside the city walls of the medina giving you an authentic experience and good access to both the old city and the new city.

I would recommend you book the airport taxi with the Riad beforehand as the place is not easy to find. I must admit when we got dropped off by the taxi on our first night we thought have we got the right place as all we saw was market stalls, people, bikes, chickens .... we were then guided through a maze of small passageways to the Riad (be pepared to get lost but its all part of the adventure and we, 2 girls, found it to be perfectly safe)

Once the Riad door opens you will receive a warm welcome and taken to the courtyard which is beautiful and very relaxing. We were seated, given mint tea and Laurent spent around an hour talking to us and helping us with information about the city and surrounding areas to visit as well as helping us mark places on our map. We found this really valuable especially as it was our first time in Morocco. Nothing is too much trouble; Laurent and Muriel want you to feel at home and to enjoy your time. They will even give you their mobile numbers in case you need any assistance at any time.

The Riad itself is very quiet, peaceful and clean. It has a range of beautiful Moroccan rooms to cater for a range of budgets. There is a lovely terrace to eat and sunbath/relax and chill out areas to read. The breakfast was very good (selection of fruit, pancakes, bread, yogurt, eggs, juice and coffee) offered whatever time you got up or fancied it. We were even offered free bottled water for our room and to take out with us, as well as free mint tea /coffee with biscuits any time we fancied which was very much appreciated. If you need to change money you don’t need to worry as the Riad will do this and if need help on getting a taxi again this can be arranged. Laurent even helped us on our last day to get a cheaper taxi from the street to the airport to save us money as we were running out.

Marrakesh can be busy, noisy, with some charming locals but also some annoying locals who will pester you and sometimes even be quite rude which you have to try and ignore. You have to go with a relaxed and open attitude and be prepared to get lost as many of the roads don’t have the street names and can look very much the same. You also need to take care with anyone behind the wheel whether a car, motor bike, bike etc as many just aim for you and refuse to move out your way! If it all gets too much the Riad is a heaven to return to.

All in all we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, the Riad really made our holiday and we had a wonderful stay.

Stayed at Riad Dar Dialkoum for 4 nights in November. The hosts Laurent and Muriel are charming and very helpful and their staff are wonderful. The Riad itself is beautiful and a perfect place to stay to relax. The area itself is very safe. Laurent took time on arrival to recommend to us where we should go in Marrakech, including recommending a couple of restaurants. The Riad Dar Dialkoum is worth every penny and I will be recommending to all my friends and anyone else that I hear is thinking of going to Marrakech. Booking the taxi with the Riad on arrival from the airport is worth the extra money as at first the Riad can be difficult to find. However, getting lost in Marrakech is all part of the experience. A big thank you to all at Riad Dar Dialkoum for making my stay in Marrakech so relaxing.

We had an amazing week staying at Riad Dar Dialkoum.
We were collected at the airport by the transport arranged by the Riad, and though getting a little concerned as we were lead through the unfamiliar streets we were amazed when we entered the Riad's beautiful, peaceful courtyard. Waiting for us was a private dining table, covered in rose petals and a delicious authentic Morroccan meal. Muriel was extremely welcoming and gave us invaluble information on Marrakech; what to go and see and do, how to get things cheaper, how to make the most of our week.
The whole Riad is decorated beautifully and has many quiet seating areas where you can read a book and enjoy a delicious glass of mint tea, or perhaps a mojito. We loved our room, with again rose petals, fresh flowers, fruit, free mineral water and a safe. The only downside perhaps was the see-through curtain instead of a door to the bathroom.
The sun terrace is perfect for sun-bathing - with sun hats provided! The pool is in the courtyard and in the shade, and so as we were there in November it was a little cold, but very refreshing one very hot day!
The breakfasts are delicious - pancakes, cake, fresh fruit, fresh bread, fresh orange juice, with a variation every day to keep it interesting.
It is located a 15 minute walk to the main square (close enough to pop back in the afternoon before going out again for tea), very close to the souks, and only 10-15 minute walk to the new town.
All of the staff are polite and welcoming and generally can't do enough for you!
We wanted to explore Marrakech but also needed a peaceful relaxing holiday and Riad Dar Dialkoum gave us that. We realised just how much we loved it when it came to leave and we felt so sad saying goodbye, more than any holiday destination before.
Thankyou Riad Dar Dialkoum!

Riad Dar Dialkoum is a beautiful riad just inside the city walls of the medina giving good access to both the old city and the new city. We were picked up from the airport and taken directly to the riad. Upon arrival we were seated, given mint tea and Laurent spent around an hour telling us about the city and surrounding areas. This time was invaluable and both Laurent and Muriel have an extensive and detailed knowledge of Marrakech and Morocco which they will share with you with the greatest pleasure.
The riad itself has a range of rooms, so caters for a range of budgets and also does excellent food. There is a lovely terrace to eat and sunbath/relax and many knooks and crannies where you can relax which gives it masses of character.
All in all the riad was a haven and made our holiday. It was a haven because Marrakech itself can be hard work. Marrakech is charming, it is also grimey, noisy and very busy with some charming locals but also some annoying locals (who have already encountered every excuse as to why you don't need their help/business and will pester you till you've finally run out of excuses and have not said anything for five minutes!) hence just ignore them and then persistently ignore them and then resiliently ignore them, keeping your sense of humour is important but also difficult at times. All in all a great holiday, with hindsight would recommend getting a guide for the medina!

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was amazing. The riad is beautiful, clean and incredibly quiet and relaxing (a valuable commodity in Marrakech!). We ate in the Riad one night in the courtyard and the food was great and the setting so picturesque. The owners were very friendly and helpful, advising us on good excursions, booking a hammam for us (well worth a visit) and giving us tips.

Room Tip: We had a good look around and they are all beautiful and very quiet. One room opens on to the main c...

Thanks to all the wonderful reviews we read, we decided to stayed at Dar Dialkoum for 4 nights.
We arrived at Marrakesh for the first time and the taxi we have booked with the riad was waiting for us, which is something we really recommend since is not easy to find the hotel on the first time! After a couple blocks walking with the company of the taxi driver guiding us (which was an amazing immersion in local Marrakesh life in 3 minutes!!) we arrived at Dar Dialkoum.
It was a delight to enter that black door and see what was waiting for us inside. An oasis in the middle of the hussle of the city. The welcome with the mint tea, the detailed explanation of the map of the city and its main attractions, suggestions on where to eat and what to do according with the days we were staying... The decoration of the entire place was perfect. And our room was incredibly beautiful!
It is located inside the medina, less than 20 minutes walking to Jemaa El Fnaa, the main square. Is is also close to the modern part of the city. There are many hotels outside the medina and some of them looked very nice, but we were so glad that we stayed in Dar Dialkoum because we could experience the real local daylife and markets (not only the ones for tourists) and when we were tired of all the noise, traffic, heat, markets, we went back to the riad. Even with the terrible heat outside, in the riad it was so fresh and quiet.
We went almost everywere walking and it is really safe, also late at night.
The breakfast was complete, with fruits, fresh orange juice, eggs, etc. We also had a lesson with Amina and learned how to prepare the fantastic mint tea they always offered us. These and some other extra touches, like petals on our bed, fresh fruits in the room, free mineral water, among others, made our stay unforgettable.
Laurent and Muriel were really warm hosts, took care of us, so friendly, it was a pleasure meeting them. It was some of the best experiences we had in a hotel!

Without a doubt, Riad Dar Dialkoum was the best place we stayed in Morocco. Muriel and Laurent go above and beyond.

It is the extra little things they do that makes the stay so exceptional...things like free bottles of water and mint tea whenever you want it, upgrading your room if there is a spare, checking if restaurants offer vegetarian food, paying for the taxi back to the airport and answering question after question after question.

Add to that, the actual Riad is stunning. Each room has its own personality (we stayed in three different rooms on our returns to Marrakech) and they are full of character and charm. The public areas are beautiful and calm, a haven away from the hectic life of the city. The pool is refreshing. The breakfast was more than adequate. The location is perfect.

In general, Riad Dar Dialkoum was an absolute gem and we would stay again if we went. Thank you Muriel and Laurent for all your help and hospitality.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were stunning!
