We stayed five nights at the Al Moussika and rate the stay highly. The place is small - only six rooms, and the rooms are comfortable, but not very large. What makes it all work are the numerous indoor and outdoor common areas: a courtyard with a pool, a courtyard with tables and chairs, a rooftop terrace, and indoor spaces: a library - well stocked with books about the region, a "music room" with TV/DVD (and choice of movies) and a dining room/sitting room. There is also a small hammam and massage room.
Our room (the "Rose Suite") was billed as a deluxe double or suite in various correspondence. To be fair, we booked relatively late for an Easter weekend, and we did get the last room available, so maybe other rooms were grander. This is by way of saying that the room was comfortable, but not overly large. The room has a private balcony which was very comfortable, although it overlooked a third courtyard which houses the kitchen, so could be "noisy" (pleasant sounds of conversation and cooking) and smells from the kitchen during the morning and afternoon. The bed was very comfortable, with lovely fine linens and good bedding. The bathroom is a good size and well fitted out, although could use a bit of TLC - there had clearly been something spilt and staining the bathtub which made it look dirty, even though it, like the entire place, was very clean.
Breakfast was served either in the courtyard or the dining room (we opted for the courtyard), and was the same every day (no complaints there, I could eat that breakfast everyday for the rest of my life!): fresh yogurt, macedonia fruit salad, heavy rye toast, fresh baked viennoiserie, galettes with honey, homemade marmelade, creamy butter, runny honey, and eggs to order (if you are really greedy). All washed down with fresh squeezed oj and endless cups of espresso. Fantastic! Lunches were served in the same places and were very generous, fresh and varied. Each lunch started with a cold salad - different each day, and then a hot main course, which varied from duck to zucchini ravioli. One day we had a Moroccan lunch (delicious), but otherwise, the cooking is continental French/Italian. They accommodated my vegetarian diet beautifully, as well. Tea/drinks were available at any time and very welcome in late afternoon, when they were served with local pastries, or in the evening served with olives/nuts. All the food and drinks, save the alcohol, were included.
The place has been very sensitively done with an eye to detail but not self-consciously so. This gives the entire place a relaxed air, although the finishings and fittings are high quality.
The riyad is located on a quiet side street but only ten minutes slow walk to hustle and bustle of the main square and shops. After receiving directions the first day, we navigated without any problems.
The weather during our stay was beautiful, but on the cool side, so the pool was unusable - the owner could consider (or maybe has and rejected the idea) heating the pool, because it is a very lovely tiled pool in a nicely landscaped courtyard. The entire place was clearly built to provide cool shade during hot weather, so in cool weather, it felt a bit on the dark side. To be fair, we didn't use the rooftop terrace much, which would have provided a nice sunny spot. It just didn't seem that available, with stairs behind a locked door and all the furniture under cover - although we didn't try hard to use it, so not a fair comment, actually!
Every single person working in the riyad was charming and the service is really what made this such a relaxing holiday.
We travelled with our daughter (aged 8), and she enjoyed the entire experience, and the staff were warm and welcoming to her. There was some mixup with communications with the booking agent, so the hotel was not aware of her arrival, but quickly set up a bed and meals and could not have been more welcoming to her. My only small gripe (and this could be common to fee structures in Marrakech, and therefore an unreasonable one) is that there was an extra 40% surcharge for her staying in our room. This seemed a bit steep considering the room rate, as it resulted in more than an additional 150 euros per day to accommodate extra linens, an extra breakfast and lunch.
I know there are lots of choices now in Marrakech, but I can't think of a nicer place to find romantic, high-class accommodations which are also relaxed and low key, not to mention with great food served in a pretty setting.
