“Very comfortable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

This must be one of the best riads to stay in Marrakech. There is a plunge pool in the courtyard surrounded by lit lanterns at night and lush tropical plantations everywhere. The riad has a roof terrace, a library and an excellent restaurant Pepe-Nero for dinner (warning: you need to book at least 24 hours in advance as it is very popular). The manager Hassan gave us a very warm welcome and was very attentive, polite and helpful throughout our stay and did everything possible to ensure our comfort and that we were looked after at all times. Abdel-Kadir served us breakfast daily and is very charming, chatty and attentive. Our suite was huge with a four-poster bed and a separate hallway; the bathroom had a very deep wide bath. Moroccan lanterns hanging from the ceilings. The riad felt like a small palace and a haven of peace away from the mayhem of the city outside. Highly recommended.

Eccelent location at few minutes walk from the main square El Fna, the main museums and the souks of the old medina. The riad is wonderfull very well restaured and the room are full of antiques and nice paintings old and modern.
Beautiful swimmingpool in the garden and a relaxing hammam.
Very large breakfast with the best croissant I had since my trip to Paris.
The service is 5 stars and the boys do their best to make your stay memorable.

To describe our stay at Riyad Al Moussika will be resumed by a word: Perfect!
Our bleu suite and its bathroom are just a dream, the saloons and the courtyards with marble fountains are gorgeous and the hammam and massage a fantastic experience that I repeated twice..
The service is very professional and discreet with personal touches such as a bottle of French champagne complimentary offered to celebrate my friend’s birthday.
We will come back!

Room Tip: the suite deluxe Al AZRAK

Having chosen the Riad-al-Moussika for its excellent reviews, our experience of it exceeded even our high expectations. Efficiently met at the airport, we arrived in an evening downpour to a lovely welcome, and having inspected our fabulous (Al Azrak) Blue Suite, we had a marvellously authentic and sophisticated Moroccan dinner in the PepeNero restaurant in the central courtyard, fountains playing, the zellij, or mosaic-work, looking beautifully impressive. Stunning start, and it remained stunning throughout. The riad is mercifully traditional (we saw some tarted up places that didn't appeal) with beautiful and tasteful decoration in the style of the Bahia Palace or the Saadian Tombs and all its traditional features in place, subtly restored where necessary. Ask the ever-helpful and courteous Hassan to tell you about its history. The opulent suite was simply stunning - especially the fabulous marbled and tiled bathroom with its bath big enough to hold an entire football team. It was an utterly tranquil spot (with only the occasional birdsong and muezzin) in the midst of the medieval mayhem of the medina. The staff were completely charming and, even if they occasionally forgot to bring the tea or water you'd requested to the room, they always rallied in the end. No little glitches would stop us wanting to come back. And the afternoon tea with Moroccan pastries was sheer indulgence. The restaurant meals were superb, Moroccan and Italian; we have to return to finish the menu! Hassan, the manager, obliging and efficient, arranged our taxi-driven outings perfectly and Abdul was the epitome of exuberant helpfulness. I don't believe you could find a more charming place to stay in Marrakech. We loved it.

Room Tip: If you want a really early night, best not to book a room overlooking the restaurant.

This is a beautiful traditional riad. We had the green room suite with a roof terrace and loggia overlooking the pool. The service was excellent, but also relaxed. Hussain the manager is very good. The restaurant is also very good, expensive for Marrakech but as you can eat so well and cheaply most of the time it was nice to splash out for one evening. The location is quiet but also very close to all the main sites. It was a nice retreat from the busy city.

Room Tip: You may not want the room directly over the restaurant but it is not particularly noisy or obtrusive...

This riad represents the top experience that few can believe. The place, an astonishing old Palace, gives a picture that is difficult to forget. Our beautiful suite had a nice loggia and view overlooking the garden and poolside. Don't forget to order a fresh squeezed orange juice or a cappuccino that are complimentary served as all non alcoholic drinks: The best you can have! The service is impeccable. The fares are quite inexpensive for such a place and service.

Room Tip: The Green suite

Morocco is without doubt, one of the best places to travel at the moment. Not only does it fulfill the 'exotic and mysterious' tag, the people are incredibly hospitable and friendly, particularly if you are organised before you get there.

This was our first time, and we found that by booking accomodation and tour guides/ drivers in advance, made all the difference. As a matter of fact, we actually wondered how you could travel without this preparation unless you are a seasoned traveller to this country.
After much research, we found Riyad Al Mousikka highly recommended on a travel forum. We booked into a 'comfort room' for a couple of nights and then the Pasha suite, for a treat, on our last night. As it turned out, this was a great choice.

Hassain, Abdul Qadir and the team treat you like royalty. They are incredibly hospitable and friendly, even to guests who clearly don't warrant such respect! No request was too much and quite often they exceeded what we wanted. If you are offered a Hamman and massage, trust me you must do it!

Our accommodation was literally built for the Pasha of Marrakech and his family. Marble bathrooms, elaborate roof painting, exquisite mosaics, fountains, courtyards... this is truly an oasis right in the middle of the bustling Medina.

Then if that wasn't enough, most nights the courtyard tables were laid out to become an acclaimed restaurant where people from all over town would come and dine. The menu offers both an Italian and Moroccan set of cuisines which we alternated between during our stay. As a guest we could also have lunch from the kitchen that would reflect some of these dishes. At one stage we thought we would not need to move from sunning ourselves on the roof deck, when another tray of refreshments arrived!

But alas the Medina was calling, so each morning we would go down to the central courtyard for a breakfast of pastries, juice, coffee, omelette, toast with honey and marmalade, to prepare us for our days' outing.
Maybe it would be a tour of the Medina with all the souks and shopping, or a tour of the Royal gardens or even a camel ride. Or maybe just a 'stroll' through the maze of 'streets', dodging and weaving, being totally fascinated by a culture that is both ancient and modernising.

Morocco is a must. We can highly recommend this Riyad. And remember this is one country where you will be treated as a friend if you engage the local peoples to show you around.
Thanks for a great stay.

Oh and whilst I am here, Travellink Morocco organised all our train travel, guided tours through Tangiers and Marrakech, as well as a camel ride. Imad and his team were by far the most professional, knowledgeable and prompt company we dealt with on our whole travel through Europe. And once again we got far more than what we paid for. Their hospitality was outstanding!

Room Tip: If you can, get the Pasha suite!!!!!!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Riad Al Moussika - For comfort, style and refinement. THE Riad experience in Marrakech! Situated in the ancient medina of Marrakech, five minutes walk from place Jemaa El Fna, the Riyad was once one of the residences of the former Pasha of Marrakech, Thami El Glaoui, and has been refurbished to a very high standard in the Andalucian style. One of the gates of Riyad Al Moussika opens on to a garden with old cypress trees soaring to the sky, a huge bougainvillea climbing across the pergolas, a swimming pool, in the centre or, more precisely, an Andalucian basin thirteen meters long, tiled with a mosaic carpet design. Here water falls from a white Carrara marble fountain to the songs of numerous small birds creating an idyllic scenario, in spite of being in the heart of central medina. A fireplace gives the winter evenings a cosy atmosphere, as do the impressive modern paintings, carpets, sofas and armchairs. There is a hi-fi system and an art deco Pleyel grand piano perfectly tuned for the pleasure of the guests. The Turkish bath or hammam in white marble with a relax room where, on request, a professional masseur can take care of the guests. There is a unique view of the medina and the Atlas Mountains from the two terraces that are sheltered partially with wooden pergolas and surrounded by large terracotta flower vases. Tables, comfortable armchairs with cushions and teak chaises-long allow guests to request breakfast and candle lit dinner, as well as to sunbathe during the day. On one of the terraces there is a pavilion with Moroccan sofas, cushions and lamps should some of the guests prefer a more intimate space. The resident Chef, Grand Diploma Cordon Bleu, has devoted his life to gastronomy and invites lovers of fine dining to experience his repertoire of Moroccan, Italian and French cuisine at the haute Cuisine riyad's Restaurant PEPE NERO. There are 4 double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathroom. All rooms have air-conditioning / heating system, telephone with external line, television with the major satellite channels (BBC, CNN etc.), Internet wireless connection is available and DVD in the music room. ... more   less
