“Honeymoon Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in Morocco and it was absolutely magical. The hotel upgraded our room, which was fabulous. On our first night, we asked for help making dinner reservations. Not only did the hotel help select a great restaurant, but they arranged for a complimentary cake for desert that said "Congrats." Riad El Fenn's rooftop has fabulous views of Marrakech & is an amazing place to watch the sunset and drink a glass of wine or mint tea. The hotel is modern yet authentic with breathtaking architecture and art that transports you. The location can't be beat and the hotel will recommend an amazing guide (we recommend Moustapha) to help you navigate the souk.

great to hear you enjoyed your stay at El Fenn so much and we passed on your compliments to Mustapha.

What a wonderful pictures by the way. As our official ones were quite outdated we just had some new ones taken by Joanne Vestey, which we posted both here and on our Facebook page.

Again thank you for your time, effort and most of all kind words and of course hope to see you for your anniversary!

warm regards, team El Fenn

What appears to be a small Riad from the outside turns out to be a palatial expanse of elegance, grandeur and style. the rooms are authentic and spacious, the service attentive and the position second to none. A truly amazing place.

We have just come back from our honeymoon in Morocco where part of it we stayed in the Riad El Fenn. The place is fantastic, the rooms are spectacular and you will be very well looked after.
After the hustle, bustle and heat of Marrakech its a great place to retreat too.

I definitely would like to come back here & cannot recommend the place enough.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 11 - it was stunning!

Just got back from an amazing stay at Riad El Fenn. The Riad is beautiful, an eclectic mix of contemporary and the traditional. It's very well styled but still manages to feel informal and is a haven in the middle of bustling Marrakech. The riad is full of little nooks and crannies ensuring peace, tranquility and privacy. The two pools (pools are a rarity in the medina) and roof top plunge pool were the perfect antidote to a day in the Medina. And I will never forget the evenings spent on the roof terrace watching the sun go down, overlooking the Koutoubia mosque, listening to the call to prayer - magical. What really made my stay there was the staff and the service. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a deluxe room and throughout the stay the staff struck the right balance between being attentive without being intrusive. The nice touches - little pastries pre breakfast, afternoon tea and the slippers are just an added bonus. I will return and would highly recommend for a peaceful bit of luxury in the heart of the Medina.

We had an unforgettable time at the Riad El Fenn in the beginning of June this year. The complex itself is absolutely stunning and the staff members are very friendly and helpful.

The Riad is located in the centre of the Medina, but the peace and freedom provided gives the feeling of being somewhere on the outskirts.

When we arrived, Rafik welcomed us with fresh pressed orange juces befor he showed us around and told us a little bit more about the history of the Riad. Vanessa Branson, who ownes the Riad obviously puts a lot of love into this wonderful place. We loved the interior and the beautiful art pieces all over the Riad- absolutely stunning.

The pools are beautiful and surrounded by big plans and flowers- these areas are very quiet and relaxed.

Our room was outstanding with a bathtub located in the room next to a big log fire place. The room was just a few meters away from the pool - inviting for a swim in the morning.

On our last day we did a cooking course in the Riad - which was great fun and deffinitely something we can recommend doing.

Overall our stay was brilliant and we are already looking forward to going there again.

A big thank you to all the staff members of the Riad and the general manager Willem, who made our stay so special!

I have set up a trip advisor account to recommend Riad El Fenn to fellow people. This riad is absolutely stunning, we were greeted in the shady, bird filled courtyard and spent the first 15 minutes of our stay absolutely speechless as we toured around the hotel.

We were luckily given an upgrade to one of the pool suites which for a young couple was amazing, the room itself was over three beautifully decorated floors with a large sunken, open plan bedroom/bathroom, and a private terrace and pool.

The location of the riad is great, although riad in just a 15minute walk from the souks the riad itself is tranquil and atmospheric.

All of our needs were looked after by the ample number of staff who were both polite and helpful. I would also like to say thank you so much to the entire management team who help us so much with our booking, and in particular Vanessa for letting us stay in her beautiful riad.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
With 20 individually styled rooms and suites, a four-bedroom private riad, 3 swimming pools and its own hammam spa, El Fenn is a unique boutique hotel combining grandeur and historic architecture with hideaway nooks, terraces and gardens - making it the most peaceful place from which to enjoy Africa's most exotic city. Our story began with two friends on the hunt for a small riad to buy as a holiday home. It was 2002 when Vanessa Branson and Howell James walked into the almost ruined courtyard of one of Marrakech's formerly great private homes. Nearing dusk and with the sound of the muezzin's call to prayer echoing in the air, they instantly fell in love with the atmospheric house which was being sold with three smaller neighbouring homes. They soon realised that their holiday home was going to become so much more.At the time, only a handful of Marrakech's riads had been converted to small hotels and Vanessa and Howell knew they wanted to open a place offering something different – a home from home retreat that combined great food and service with the spirit of the building's past and a contemporary decorative twist. During a two-year renovation, local craftsman used traditional techniques to breathe new life into the building. Polished lime plastering was used in a rainbow of colours to create walls, baths and bed frames, original tiling was renovated and carved cedar ceilings restored. Retro furniture sourced from local flea markets was combined with one-off bespoke pieces to create a unique interior. ... more   less
