Stayed here in October 2011 for one week.
The holiday was booked almost at the last moment and was a relative bargain.
The clientèle were in the main French (no surprise when Club Med is a French company..)
We struck up several friendships with our neighbours who were all estate agents from Paris having a business freebie!
As far as the room layout goes, it can be said to be different - a shower is in the middle of the lounge area and the two beds were separated by the corridor to the door. A window at the rear of the lounge opened onto a courtyard garden.
The food was beyond reproach and waiter served for lunch and dinner together with wine.
The "egg" chef at breakfast was a wizard with the omelette pan!
Breakfast variety was varied and not quite to the same high standards as the later meals
One comment on the all-inclusive was that sometimes the service was not particularly speedy.
It was possible to find several Nespresso machines dotted around that enabled you to prepare a superb cup of coffee in seconds without asking for service.
The music in the rooftop disco varied between absolutely magical on the first evening with 70's & 80's disco ensuring that EVERYONE was on the dance-floor - this was the best ever atmosphere that I have encountered in any disco. The success of this was then followed by several evenings of Techno c**p - a real lesson in how to not understand your customers - unbelievable!
The pool was small but a welcome oasis in such a hot situation as where the hotel is located. The hotel is hidden from the square by a high wall.
The real advantage of staying here was that the other Club Med property in the palm grove could be accessed by the regular transfer coach. Le Palmerie was entirely different to La Medina and more family orientated although there were also quiet areas if you wanted to relax away from the kids.
It was possible to use all the facilities here and return to the city for waiter service and the iconic location next to the square as the evening continued.
All in all this was one of the best holiday experiences that we have had.
We would like to return here again for another week this year; the only problem is that it appears to be closed for renovation and the Club Med website is rather poor in many ways.

To the hypnotic rhythm of the Gnawa musicians, the famous Marrakech square turns into a throng of merchants, storytellers, acrobats and snake charmers.
