“A breath of fresh air”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

The streets of Marrakech are a fascinating assault on the senses: the noise, the crowd, the dirt, the colors, the heat. What you need after a day in Marrakech is this: a large garden (with a family of tortoises), a good size swimming pool, outstanding staff, characterful rooms, a peaceful patio, fantastic food and refreshing mint tea. And all within a short walking distance of the Souks. Agnes and the team are the best: they can help you plan your time in a crazy city where there's always too much to do. They helped with an amazing day trip to the Berber villages of the Atlas mountains, complete with a breathtaking climb to the waterfalls of the Ourika valley. A totally unforgettable, but also relaxing vacation thanks to the Riad El Arsat.

This is our favorite holiday place and I tell you we are frequent travellers.
Great authentic kitchen, you wil not get a better tajine than the one from Fatima in marrakesch.
It's just like being at home, amazing owner and staff.
The garden and the pool are just the best place to seat, trink moroccon tee and read a book.
Thanks for the great week!! We will be back!!

Room Tip: for us the best room is was the suite in the 1st floor with a very nice varanda

Many Riad advertise with this a title, but this is really true for Riad El Arsat. With its incredible garden and swimming pool, once you enter through the door you can really relax after a long day walking the souks and the Medina. Just a short walk from the Djemaa el Fnaa, the location is unbeatable and if you rent a car like I did, you can park safely in the car park nearby only a 3 minute walk.
Rooms are comfortable and stylish. The decor of the whole Riad is very tasteful with many original features as it used to be a palace. Service is excellent and also the quality of the food. I had the pleasure of having dinner and lunch during my stay. Fatima, the cook has been working there for many years and her cooking is sublime. Breakfast is also very good and varied, even the place were you have it. i have visited many places during my stay in Morroco but none made me feel so at home as Riad el Arsat.

Room Tip: I stayed at one of the pool rooms which was very convenient to use the pool and for breakfast, but n...

If you go to Marrakesh you should stay at Riad El Arsat. It is a beautiful small palace in the medina.
The streets outside are busy but inside the portal of Riad El Arsat there is air, calm, a beautiful garden and an inviting swimming pool. The rooms are nicely decorated. The breakfast is very good as everything else that was served. It is a small paradise, I am definitely going back. A perfect hideaway for stressed city people who want to relax and then you have the adventure outside the doors...

I think this is now my favourite hotel.

Only eight rooms share the largest private garden in the Marrakech medina (it's so big you can easily spot it on Google satellite maps!). On two sides of the garden are arranged sympathetically-restored elegant and comfortable rooms, hammam, jacuzzi, pool, large colonnaded salon, roof terrace etc. The garden itself is dense, bird-filled and shaded by mature palms, jacaranda, bougainvillea, figs and many others. We experienced two of the rooms, having been offered a (free) upgrade. One was on the garden (ground) floor opening onto the pool area and traditionally decorated, the second was on the first floor overlooking the garden and pool and, though more modern, also attractive and very comfortable.

The whole has been restored and maintained by Mme Nicole and her family, including the very charming and helpful Charles, our host, who could not have been more welcoming and helpful throughout.

Whenever we arrived - either hot and bothered after travel or just being tourists in the 33C heat of the crowded medina - the Riad was cool, shady, welcoming, quiet and comfortable.

The food was also delicious. We don't often eat in hotels but we did here, four times in five days. Many Moroccan favourites made an appearance - tagine, pastilla, brochettes, tanjia, couscous. Dinner in the garden with a bottle of rose was a highlight of our day. Breakfast, also in the garden, was very good too.

The staff were attentive but discreet. Somehow they always knew exactly when a glass of mint tea or a dip in the jacuzzi would be most welcome.

We stayed in the Riad for 2 nights, everything was absolutely perfect!
Charles arranged for us to get picked up from the airport as we arrived late at night. We had our dinner at the first night in the Riad, both wine and food were delicious.
We were then upgraded to a bigger room as the Riad wasn't too busy, the rooms are very stylish. If I had to name anything not perfect in the room I would perhaps mention the shower head as it was a little bit lose and there wasn't a hairdryer. Two small things that really didn't matter!
Breakfast was fabulous too and as we soon found out we seemed to have the best chef in Marrakesh cooking for us (and we are real food snobs!).
The location of the Riad is great too, a bit of a walk from the market which was nice as after an exhausting day of haggling I wanted to be as far away as possible to relax and unwind. We received complementary mint tea (which was the best I had on my trip to Morocco!) whenever we sat down in the Riad.
On the second evening Charles took some time to sit with us and plan our night out. He booked us taxi, table in the restaurant and in bar afterwards.
Whenever I am going back I will make sure to book into Riad el arsat again. It has everything you need and more!

Like everyone else who has reviewed El Arsat, we too loved it. So what to say that has'nt already been said? Charles and Agnes and their staff are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. They have a lovely small Hammam and a hot tub on the upper terrace and you can have an excellent massage if you book in advance. We loved everything about this place, the garden, the atmosphere, the decor and the feeling that you were staying in a private house. When we arrived late and frazzled with 2 hungry teenagers, Agnes somehow managed to magic up an omelette and a glass of wine although it was long after her chef had gone home. One of the exceptional things about El Arsat is the large garden and the lack of noise, it is easy to forget you are in the heart of the city. I can't think of anywhere I would rather stay in Marrakech.
