“Highly recommend Riad 72”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Our very generous friends booked Riad 72 in May 2013, so 4 couples had the Riad to ourselves and what an amazing property it is. Collected from the airport, the porter waiting to take our bags through the narrow alleyways; bags put in our fabulous rooms and mint tea and delicious biscuits served in a beautiful courtyard surrounded by palm trees; after months of miserable weather in the UK to be in the warm with clear blue skies - heavenly!
Superb, attentive service at all times. Delicious breakfasts with jugs of freshly squeezed orange juice. Clean and very comfortable rooms. We enjoyed the roof terrace where we had supper on the first night and as the evening was so clear we could see the Atlas Mountains in the distance. I would definitely recommend Riad 72 for adults who want to get away for a long weekend.

Room Tip: We stayed in the kingsize room with the huge bath (as I can't remember what the name of the room...

Service fantastic, welcoming environment, a wonderful experience. we enjoyed our stay here as the staff was great and the property top class. The staff was always available and courteous.
As a result we had a great visit to marrakesh. We will be sure to return to Ria 72 the next time we visit.

We had a fantastic stay at Riad 72. The service was above and beyond and they made us feel very welcome, especially providing us with tea and biscuits on entry. The riad was very clean, with an amazing roof top and wonderful staff. Look forward to a return visit soon.

Apparently all good things come to those who wait and in this instance must also apply to those who walk around in circles trying to find Riad 72.After some false starts from 'helpful" locals we were in no doubt as to why the maze of alleys would in years bygone have confused would be invaders into moving on to an easier place to ransack.Close to exasperation and exhaustion we finally got some directions that worked.Once we had found it we never had any problems finding our way back.
What a beautiful sanctuary and what fantastic staff. So helpful, caring and utterly charming. They all worked so well as a team to make our stay so memorable.
This was our last place to stay in Marrakesh having stayed 4 nights at La Mamounia and 3 nights at El Fenn. Both the places were exceptional but Riad 72 just had a simple yet elegant charm and serenity to it.
The internal central courtyard is tastefully decorated with a Moroccan influence and Italian eye for style. We sat and enjoyed a very refreshing and by this time necessary, bottle of chilled water and cool hand towels whilst we checked in.We had left our luggage at El Fenn and the staff at Riad 72 arranged for it to be collected and delivered to our room.
Our room was a loft style room and you need to be reasonably sure of foot to climb the stairs that don't hav handrails. The bed was firm but comfortable. The bathroom well proportioned and functional but a bit light on for storing toiletries.Everything was very clean.Airconditioning was quiet and effective.
The roof top terrace ,whilst not as expansive as El Fenns' ,was still a very enjoyable spot to be.There was a very small plunge pool but we didn't take the plunge.
Breakfast and dinner can be taken on the terrace and we did both.Breakfast had the standard fare which included delicious croissants , baguettes ,fresh orange juice.
Dinner was absolutely magnificent on the two occasions we dined in.We had the terrace to ourselves on both occasions.A beautiful old lady prepares the meal and you can request you favourite Moroccan dishes or leave it to her to design a 3 or more course dinner. The kitchen is in a room off the courtyard and you can see your meal being prepared from mid afternoon.Like everything else, the kitchen is spotless. It was so memorable being on the terrace as the sunset commenced and the enchanting evening prayer calls began resonating from the various towers within our view.It is worth staying just to enjoy this experience of quintessential Moroccan cooking, sights and sounds.
We wanted to have a hit of golf and the staff booked us in at Royal Marrakech Golf Course and arranged for a driver to take us there and back with a bit of a sightseeing tour on the return.
We liked some of the linens and decorations at the Riad so much that we asked the staff if they could be bought locally.Fortunately they could and within a short walk we were taken to an amazing 3 storey Aladdins Cave stocked with furniture, rugs, lights, cooking utensils, wall hangings and more.It was not your typical tourist trap.It was not signposted and unless you knew what was behind the non descript solid wooden front doors you would have no reason to enter.Fortunately we were shown inside without having to utter"open Sesame".Inside the emporium were mainly locals .We bought a few things but would love to have had the luggage space to buy more.Hopefully we will get the chance to do so one day.
Within the riad there is a small hammam. My wife enjoyed the hammam whilst i had a massage. The massage was pretty standard but my wife thought the hammam was an amazing experience . Whilst the surrounds may not have been as opulent as the hammam she enjoyed at La Mamounia ,the overall treatment was superior and more authentic.
Would certainly not hesitate recommending Riad 72 and hope to return one day.Although the labyrinth of souks are within a couple of hundred metres which is great,it was fantastic to be able to return to serenity from the hectic hustle and bustle of the souk and El Fna.

Room Tip: If you don't like negotiating narrow stairs without handrails avoid the loft room.

We have just returned from a fantastic visit to Marrakesh.
Everything and everyone at The Riad 72 was perfect for us.
There is a calm, spiritual atmosphere....such detail, so stylish!
We saw three of the four rooms.
They are quirky and tastefully decorated. Comfort and style....everything was thought of.

Room Tip: The rooms varied in size, but all looked tasteful. Woken up through the night with the Mosque calli...

After being dropped off from the airport we were lead along a few dusty alleyways and stopped at a the rather plain door of No 72. This looks nothing special from the outside but opens into a veritable oasis in the heart of Marrakech. The Riad has four double rooms, dining room, central courtyard (complete with dining areas, palm trees and water feature) and a sun terrace including a plunge pool and covered dining area. The whole Riad is stylishly furnished and decorated with a combination of classical and contemporary furnishings and fittings. The staff could not be more helpful and the food (breakfast and evening meals) was fantastic. Despite the many temptations of Marrakech I could happily spend 2 weeks in this Riad without venturing outside - a wonderfully relaxing place!

Room Tip: All 4 rooms are individually and beautifully furnished/decorated.

We stayed at Riad 72 for a few days in April. What a wonderful experience for our first visit to Marrakech and Morocco. Christian, the manager, and all the staff were excellent, the service they provided was faultless and caring. The Riad provides an atmosphere of great calm after the buzz and energy of the Medina, it is much larger than we imagined. Our room was very quirky and on two levels, it had everything we wanted. The courtyard, roof terrace and other areas were excellent. We had dinner in the courtyard of the Riad on the first night and we highly recommend it, superb food and service. Breakfast in the courtyard was an enjoyable experience every morning. Good location in the Medina and easy to find after a day out. Riad 72 is excellent and highly recommended.
