“A haven of calm amidst the madness of Marrakech”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

My giirlfriend and I stayed at Dar Soukina for 7 nights over a period of 14 days. We were delighted by the peace and calmness of this traditional Moraccan house. The staff were wonderfully helpful and made us feel welcomed guests. We travelled out of Marrakech on a number of occasions, always leaving kit ( and laundry) at the Dar. On our return our room had been readied, our laundry put away and we were welcomed back like family.

Breakfast was a joy, especially the fresh bread rolls, baked every day, the orange juice and the coffe (the best we had during our stay in Morocco).

Our room was warm during the chill nights and cool during the warm days. And the shower took care of the Marrakech grime.

A lovely experience, one we are already looking forward to repeating.

Room Tip: Forget the airport transfer -go by taxi!

I have been to the Riad twice already and I absolute love it. Perfectly located in the vibrant Medina, it is great for wandering around the souk (it is very easy to find a cab to go to the new town as well). The rooms are decorated in the autentical marrocan style, they are very clean and spacious. The Manager (Omar) and all the staff is lovely, they are the kindest people in Marrakech, very helpful and friendly. Totally recommend to stay at Dar Soukaina both with your family and friends.

We just came back from a 4-day trip with a group of 15 friends, the organisation from Omar, Abdallah and Rasheed was just perfect and very very friendly. They made sure we all felt home and always went the extra mile to help us organising taxis, dinners, excursions, teas... Breakfasts were just amazing! The rooms were very clean and made every day with new towels. We also had dinner at the riad which was very tasty and the even allowed us to buy our own alcohol.
I would recommend to anyone looking for a very convenient location and friendly atmosphere!

Absolutely fabulous Riad in Marrakesh! One feels at home, service and rooms impeccable. The staff of Dar Soukaina goes above and beyond. The location is ideal for late night taxi drop off in the close by square next to Riad Larousse pharmacy populaire, you will feel very safe walking back. Breakfast is DELICIOUS, and chill out time of quality!

Room Tip: Ask for the curry room!

First the downside .. if you don't fancy walking down dark-ish alleys to get to your accommodation then this hotel may not be for you. A taxi will drop you 5-10 minutes' walk away and a walk through the medina may easily get you lost on your way back (ignore all requests for guidance until you are completely lost! Most of the 'guides' seem to intend to get you lost and then miraculously find your accommodation! Cynical? Moi?). But if you don't mind that, then you're in for a treat. Wonderfully comfortable rooms, beautifully quiet (once inside!) and really friendly English and French speaking staff. Ten minutes walk and you're into the souks. Ten more and you're back in a little oasis of peace and calm. I especially loved the rooftop terrace but there are other little nooks and crannies to relax in. The atmosphere is very peaceful; there is even a TV and internet access should you choose to share your experiences on Facebook and Twitter immediately on your return from the souks! I loved this hotel!

A beautiful and clean riad, with lovely staff (every single one of them!). Our room (in riad 2) was really beautiful, and the bathroom is fantastic with a massive moroccan bathtub. All of the staff was very friendly and eager to help us with things to do around Marrakech. They all spoke English as well as French and Arabic. The terrace is very pleasant (with a small plunge pool) and they have turtles hanging around! The welcome was great, they serve you some orange juice and cake and let you take your time to fill the papers at the check-in (rather than sitting with you and being pushy like we experienced elsewhere). The person who picked us up from the airport was also very chatty, very friendly and pleasant.

In terms of location it's very well placed in the medina because it's a bit removed from other riads but only about fifteen minutes away (in practically a straight line) to Jemma el-Fnaa. In the opposite direction it has a pharmacy quite closely by, and it's very close to the actual street so it's easy to get a taxi nearby (rather than having to walk half the medina with your bags).

We will definitely come back to this riad when we visit Marrakech again!

This is a small riad in the medina, with few rooms and friendly personnel. It doesn't have a lot of facilities, just the the reception, the rooms, a small kitchen, and a central common space with a small tree.

We had the first room on the left, opposite the kitchen. It hadn`t windows to the street, only to the inner common space. The room and its bathroom were clean, with hot water. We had internet access from the room. The breakfast was fresh and served on time; we didn't dine there. In the night everything was quiet, we slept and rest without disturb.

It is five minutes away from a major street, and twenty minutes north of Djemaa el-Fna. We didn't spend a lot of time in the riad, though, we walked the whole day around the medina.
