“Truly Wonderful, safe, vacation Dar Ayniwen, Marrakech, Morocco!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2011

We have just returned from a wonderful late February 2011 visit to Marrakech and stay at Dar Ayniwen villa hotel with our 7 year old daughter.
For anyone currently thinking about a visit, Marrakech felt safe and was operating normally, despite unrest in other parts of North Africa. The city itself was full of western travellers enjoying their holidays, and the weather during our stay has been consistently excellent, in the high 20s!

Dar Ayniwen itself is situated well outside the centre of Marrakech in the Palmeraie region, and is a quiet and peaceful location. As a courtesy, villa staff will drive you into Marrakech, and pick you up again at any time. Dar Ayniwen is a green paradise and a hidden gem which we are reluctant to tell you about because we would prefer it to remain that way! However, in honour of the excellent Stefan and his staff, we feel duty bound to say that the stunning interiors have to be seen to be believed (1920s French Moroccan antique), the gardens and pool are paradise, the food excellent, and the service second to none! We consider ourselves well-travelled and this is one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had! Whilst we shared our stay with other guests, the small number of bespoke rooms meant that it was a very relaxing and private experience, with everyone showing full respect for each others space. We will certainly return!

This Hotel was everything it promised to be! service was excellent , Stephane, Aziz , Zach, Lamia and all the housekeeping staff were exceptional , nothing was too much trouble and any request dealt with the utmost efficiency. The house is beautiful, the rooms extremely comfortable, and the food.good. The one little hiccup was the other guests, we foolishly had not realised it was half term. Two English families with two sets of parents who seemed to be totally oblivious to their childrens noisy behavior, charging round the garden shouting their heads off. This was made even more obvious as there was also a French family with two impeccably behaved little boys. To be fare the manager,Aziz, offered to deal with it but I asked him not to as I felt this could cause embarrassment between guests . We therefore retreated to the far end of the garden, away from the main leisure area most of the time, or went out.
However ,this Hotel is so good we will return, just NOT at half term. Big thankyou to all the staff!

Well, what can I say? Visited at the end of Jan for a short break whilst my partner combined the trip with his business meetings. Have stayed inside the medina before in a lovely riad so wanted to try something a bit further out this time. What a wonderul choice Dar Ayniwen turned out to be!

We were greeted at the airport by a driver with a private mini bus to transport us to the property and from the moment the huge wooden gate was opened we were treated like royalty. The staff were so friendly, inconspicuous, helpful and knowledgeable. The house, villas and grounds are beautiful. We were given a really warm greeting and shown to our villa - Romane Pavillion. Wow, so comfortable, private, sumptuous yet homely. Lovely decor along with artwork and antiques. Very spacious and with a large really comfortable bed. Two bathrooms, dining and lounge area with a log fire - bliss. We had a patio area outside where we ate breakfast each morning overlooking the pool. Sadly it wasn't quite warm enough to use the pool but we didn't have to worry as the piece de resistance was to be found in a private garden area at the side of the villa, hidden from view by lush planting including burgeoning orange trees, our very own jacuzzi!!! We certainly made good use of it during our stay and it warmed away any shopping aches and pains from the medina or from a night spent eating, drinking and dancing.

Each day we could ring to order breakfast at our convenience to be served wherever we chose and also asked to plan our menu for the day and to arrange minibus transport for the day and/or to our evening entertainment (at no extra cost). The journey to the medina only took about 20mins. We had already planned ahead and reserved evening meals but would definitely eat at Dar Ayniwen in future as everything was bought in daily from the markets depending on your personal choice.

My partner was free to chooose any area of the main house for his business meetings and his customers were also treated wonderfully by the staff. Nothing is too much trouble here, we were able to totally relax and enjoy ourselves. I had the most amazing energising massage whilst staying here and my partner had an equally amazing oriental massage. The spa area is completely shut off for others whilst you have your treatment.

We wandered around the gardens, looked at the caged birds and enjoyed swinging on the double hammock by the pool!

The whole property felt very private and well looked after and the staff here were justifiably proud of their place of work. Well done to all of you - first class. We will definitely return in future.

(I think this would be a fantastic place to book completely for a wedding party too.)

We were picked up from the airport and driven through the manic bustle of Marrakech to this peaceful haven located in The Palmerie to the north-east of the city. The final approach to the hotel is via a narrowing dirt road finally arriving at an impressive portel and studded gate which opened to reveal a relaxing retreat. We were greeted by the owner and served, as is the old Morrocan custom for visitors, with mint tea and petite-fours. With just eight highly individual suites, the 5 star Dar Ayniwen is a wonderful alternative to the 'sanitised' international hotels of the same rating. The suites and the public rooms are decorated in Morrocan style and furnished with a vast collection of local furniture, brassware, ceramics and pictures of all manner of subjects. The hotels has a traditional Hammam and there are the optional extras of massages and treatments. There is a large garden to explore with a heated swimmimg pool.
A very pleasant staff provided excellent service and nothing was too much trouble. Although situated about 20 mins from the center of Marrakech the hotel has two complimentary dedicated cars & drivers on call to take guests anywhere in the city and pick them up,
Food is freshly prepared and served when and where guests prefer and guests are asked to make menu choices for the day after breakfast. Lunch & dinner prices seemed a little expensive when compared to other restaurants available in the city but were of a high standard.
Overall a most enjoyable and relaxing experience.

We stayed at the Dar Ayniwen on the recommendtion of my son and his wife and they weren't wrong! Everything about our three night stay there was perfect. The service was amazing - what wonderful staff! The rooms were beautiful and the food delicious. A car and driver were available whenever we wanted them at no extra charge and nothing was too much trouble - everyone was so friendly and there was no pretention just a relaxed feeling of being at home I think the best thing about the Dar Ayniwen was the location - perfect peace and quiet and total privacy, no noise other than the birds singing. This is a place we will definately return to again and again.

This was our second visit - we stayed for a week in Feb 2010 as well and this year we went back and took friends with us - that's got to be the best recommendation possible! Staff are friendly and very help - it was nice to see the same faces which also suggests they enjoy working there. Aziz, the manager is just excellent and Stephane the owner is always close at hand - he's delightful and rightly proud of his hotel. The proximity to the Medina (a maximum 15 minute car ride) is great and so easy but as others have said, it's superb to be able to easily get back to the tranquility of the hotel with it's pool and beautiful gardens.
We shall be going back again next year without a doubt!
