Where do I start???? From the moment we arrived at Dar Ayniwen, and were greeted by the amazingly friendly staff we knew we had found a brilliant hotel.
The location of Dar Ayniwen is perfect, just 10/15 minutes in the free mini bus from the Medina and great souks, meaning you can experience the hustle and bustle of Marrakech but are never more than 15 minutes from your own private oasis.
I say private as the hotel is relatively small with only 8 suites meaning that there are never more than 20 people staying. This meant during some days of our stay we had the whole pool and ground to ourselves.
The main building and our suite, Tiwaline II, could not be improved. The decor, furniture and furnishings are authentic and of the highest quality. As you walk round the 2 acre grounds you feel like you have been granted entry to the home of royalty. The aviaries house dozens of beautiful birds (rocky is my favourite) and if you're lucky enough you might even get to meet the tortoise.
Our experience of the food across Marrakech was great and Dar Ayniwen was certainly one of the best. Every morning you were greeted with a delicious breakfast which changed subtly each day so that you were able to try different treats, the homemade yogurt was simply to die for. At breakfast you are also asked to select your evening meal, if dining in the hotel, so that the kitchen team can buy the right ingredients freshly that day. When my husband selected a fish dish I was really impressed that the waiter asked him to selected a 'back up' dish and explained that if the fish that day at the market as not good enough quality they would not be happy to serve it. The attention to detail and quality of everything the team at Dar Ayniwen offer could never be faulted and the evening meals were beautiful.
My husband took the opportunity to go into the kitchens and learn how to cook the lemon chicken tagine from the chef which was fantastic and we both enjoyed the Hammam (the most perfect way to start your holiday)
Even with all of this said the most amazing thing about this hotel is the service you receive from Aziz and his team. Every member of the team we met including the waiters, house keeping, drivers and Spa therapist were friendly, helpful and attentive but all in a way that was relaxing and not too formal. Nothing was ever too much trouble and a number of times when we mentioned where we may want to visit during the day or eat on an evening the team were one step ahead helping you book tables (and requesting the best tables at that) and plan your day around when certain sights were open.
Overall since we have returned to the UK we have told literally everyone about this hotel. It is quite simply one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and outright has the best service we have experienced. Needless to stay we will be visiting again, the sooner the better.
