“Marrakech's Best Kept Secret!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2009

Dar Les Cigognes is a beautiful oasis tucked tightly away from the crowds. The location is second to none...a less than ten minute interesting walk to the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
This kitch, boutique hotel is named after the wonderful storks that made their nests upon the city's walls which you can view from your front row seat on the riad's rooftop.
This riad has a gorgeous garden roof terrace where they serve special breakfasts each morning of fresh local breads and pastries baked on site with homemade preserves.
The staff are outstanding, especially Christopher, the host with the most who's enthusiastic personality and warm smile greet you each morning, making sure all of your needs are met. He goes far above and beyond the call of duty to make sure guests are happy and treated like family.
Brahim was a super driver and guide who did far better at negotiating in the souks than I did. I will not forget his winning charm and diplomacy, or the beautiful woman with wavy hair who remembered to bring me an extra fresh orange juice each morning without me asking. Laila always seemed to have a smile on her face no matter how demanding the request. Service overall was outstanding. My room (silver) was large and lovely. I would reccommend this riad to anyone visiting.

We arranged to be collected from the airport on this our first trip to Marrakech, this enabled us to arrive in awe of our surroundings but not intimidated by them. The welcome was genuine. The staff in this hotel have been carefully chosen to make you feel totally relaxed. Our room fulfilled all expectations. The hammam was divine and a perfect way to start your stay. Food here was good but not especially good value although the dining location more than made up for this.Due to an unfortunate mistake in booking an awful hotel later in our holiday we ended up returning to DLC and throwing ourselves at their mercy!! they rose to the challenge admirably and thoroughly restored our faith in the hotel industry and Marrakesh in particular.( Christopher even took e-mails from the hotel in regards to our return whilst away on a break!) We would not only thoroughly recommend this hotel but intend to return.

This was our first trip to Marrakech, and we loved every minute of it! This was the first of two riads in which we stayed and we cannot fault it. The staff were wonderful and Christopher, the General Manger, was friendly and welcoming. We felt very looked after. The hotel was beautiful, with enormous attention to detail. The rooms were cool and dark, which meant that you could have a great sleep! I was woken at dawn by the birds but my partner slept the best he had in years! Eating breakfast on the terrace with the storks and their nests next door was a memorable experience!

We just returned from one of the most magical places we have ever experienced, Dar Les Cigognes. To call Les Cigognes a luxury retreat would be a disservice, as it is an experience. In all my travels, service like this I have never seen. The entire staff, from General Manager to resident masseuse to service to chef to chauffer take a genuine interest in your well being and happiness. Every single staff member made us feel so welcome and taken care of. Just when you were thinking about where you would like to dine...your reservations are already made for you at the precise location you had in mind. Upon your return from walking the magical souks in the center, there they is asking how your day was and delivering pre-dinner cocktails in the most perfect setting. This team does not miss a beat. There is such a tremendous sense of warmth, kindness and care among the staff that made our departure (at the wee hour of 3 am, yet...a beautiful breakfast was still served with a good morning smile) such a tremendously arduous task. As if this wasn't enough of a factor in choosing your place of stay in Marrakech, the decor and environment of Cigognes is straight out of a fairy tale. The combination of the every last detail to its decor, the hammam where we were pampered to death, to the romance within the riad that is only pronounced further by the sweet aromas of cinnamon, harissa and mint. Our deepest gratitude to everyone for making our anniversary such a memorable one and for touching us so deeply.

My best friend and I had a precious weekend away from our busy lives of work and 7 young children between us - it had to be perfect! It was. The staff were really helpful and friendly, the food and mint tea delicious, the room was lovely especially the log fire and huge bath, the hotel quaint and serene, fantastic terrace with an amazing view............
We indulged in a hamman and enjoyed it so much booked another massage the next day. The location was also ideal if not surreal - one minute surrounded by people, motor bikes, bikes, cars and on entering a small door in the wall - complete silence and tranquillity. Would I go again - where are my bags!

What a lovely place to spend a few days. This was our first time in Morocco and this riad is beautiful, although not as central as some others it is still only a 10 minute walk to the main square.
This is a lovely villa with a central courtyard which has a fountain with rose petals floating in it; it is a cliche but this is really an oasis of tranquility from the noise and hustle just outside. From the rofo terrace there is a wonderful view of the storks nesting on the ramparts outside
We were welcomed with a cool towels, cakes and mint tea and then taken on a tour of the whole riad including the kitchen, treatments room and hammam.
Our room was the Sahara room painted to look like the desert with sand and camels round the walls, and a midnight blue ceiling with gold stars. The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable and the breakfasts served on the roof terrace are delicious.
We had a hammam and body wrap whilst we were there, a wonderful experience with very professional staff, if a little expensive.
All the staff are extremely helpful and friendly but could pay more attention to service on the roof terrace and offer drinks more often.
We were very disappointed that our balloon trip over the city was cancelled due to bad weather, but I suppose we can't blame the hotel for that!!
I highly recommend a stay here, probably Feb/March is the perfect time of year. We also had a meal in one of the top riad restaurants mentioned by TA, the Riad Monceau ( http://www.riad-monceau-restaurant.com ) and thought it very good indeed.
Another small downside is the lack of a pool, it's very easy to get sunburnt up on the roof.

Once you have found this delightful place (take a taxi) you will want for nothing. Whether it's an arrival dinner served to you alone in any one of the intimate rooms off the central attrium, or breakfast on the roof gardens of in-house prepared pastries and preserves accompanied by the ubiquitous and unbeatable Moroccan orange juice, this is the place to relax and be pampered ... or just left alone to find a corner of the roof gardens to read, drink, and relax. The staff are fantastic and seem to have second sight. There when you want them, and invisible when you need quiet.

Short walk to the Jemma el F'na, but good french bistro restaurants off the local square.

We had the Silver Room which is just as advertised. Candle-lit soak in the enormous bath with a glass of wine, anybody?

Don't take the children, just yourselves.
