“Oasis on the outskirts of a hectic city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

This hotel boasts the most wonderful architecture and setting. if you just want to relax this is the place for you. It feels like you're staying at someone's very grand private residence. The rooms are very generously apportioned. We stayed in the tower suite, which is fantastic and has access to its own private pool.

Having previously stayed at other five-star hotels in Marrakesh, this is a wonderful option especially if staying with a larger group of friends.

The hotel has the most wonderful general manager, Anas and service is generally good and most of the staff are friendly, though there are some service outliers at this hotel and that need improvement.

Room Tip: If hot, make sure you have a private pool - real treat!

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel recently, after a few days spent at the Riad Noir d'Ivoire in the Medina. The idea was to have three nights in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech itself and then four nights in the tranquil calm of this stunning "palace" in the Palmeraie. And that was precisely how it worked out. I won't comment on the Riad in the town here, which we loved - I've posted a separate review - but we were delighted with our stay in Ksar Char-Bagh. The hotel is in the Palmeraie and it was around 20 minutes from town in a hotel car. We drove up a dusty track and then a massive door opened to let us into the wonderful grounds. The building is stunning and is based on the Alhambra in Spain. It sits in five acres of beautifully tended grounds with a lovely pool flanked by an avenue of palm trees. The hotel has an extensive vegetable garden and grows most of the produce it serves.

We were greeted by Fabien the truly excellent general manager, checked in painlessly and shown to our room. Our harim suite was spacious and well appointed with a large well designed bathroom, although some may find the lighting a little dim. The air conditioning was (thankfully) very efficient. We had a garden with its own plunge pool too. The French chef produced really excellent food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast alternated between Moroccan, French and, apparently, English. The English breakfast didn't seem particularly English to me, but all the breakfasts with delicious fresh orange juice, fresh fruit, yoghurts, bread, toast and pastries and eggs, if wanted, were very good. Dinner offered four choices of starters and main courses of very high quality at fair prices; lunch was a lighter affair. Local wines were very drinkable, which was fortunate, as French wines commanded eye-watering prices. Still, when in Rome......... We mainly ate in the hotel, although we did go back to Marrakech one evening for dinner at the Café de la Poste. The hotel car took us there and brought us back.

We only had two small gripes, one of which was completely outside the hotel's control. For three of the days, the temperature went off the scale into the 40s, which was very unseasonal and just too hot for me, although I do like the heat. Bad luck really, as it was 30 or so before we arrived and almost immediately after we left. The other concerns communications. Broadband in the Palmerie area has to be provided by satellite and this was either very slow, or not working. If you want to get away from all that, it won't be an issue. If it matters to you, however, you may find it frustrating, particularly as data didn't always work on a Blackberry either. But none of that detracted from a special place.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I think they're all pretty good. One tip we learned was to have a ground floor suite in the sum...

Unfortunately we stayed only one night in this fantastic place, I wish it would have been more. First the setting in the middle of the palmeraie, the surroundings are really nice among some small farms and villages. Really quaint and yet nice. It really feels amazing to be there, the garden is fantastic, be sure to check out the place where they grow their own vegetables. even the small boutiques look amazing. The pool is just beautiful, a real boutique hotel where you really feel pampered. definitely a place you just want to visit again. Thanks Fabien for your warm welcome!
Unfortunately it is a bit expensive, but clearly it is worth it. The rooms are nothing like you have experienced before and so nice... Cherry on the cake: the private terraces, we almost fell asleep looking at the stars!!!

Room Tip: The private pool is really cool!!

My husband and I stayed at the magnificent Ksar Char-Bagh recently and had a lovely time. The design of the hotel is stunning, the room was spacious and comfortable and very quiet, the grounds and gardens are beautiful. Hammam and spa were relaxing and in a gorgeous setting. Food is excellent and the staff were all helpful and attentive. Fabian was super helpful. The short trip to the city was hassle free. I can't recommend this hotel enough. I feel very lucky to have stayed here and would definitely recommend Ksar Char-Bagh. I am looking forward to our next stay there.

What a wonderful place and lovely bedrooms. You can ask the taxi drivers of the hotel to drive you directly downtown. A great restaurant with good food made with the vegs from the garden. No wonder, we really enjoyed our stay.

When we left this hotel – I said to my husband, one day we will come back. That is the longing tthis palace leaves you with as you depart.

Our experience at the Ksar Char-Bagh, for 7 days at the start of September was magical. The hotel itself offers serenity and elegance, perfect if you just want to shut yourself away from the world for a few days. When we arrived the staff were waiting and more than attentive. Our room was a standard room, but it can only be described as a suite, with rug-strewn plaster floors are almost monastic in their simplicity with the focus on good sheets, light and space. Bathrooms are large with twin sink units and deep baths. The star of the show is the private terrance which leads from the rooms allowing you to see the palm grove in all its beauty. The photographs on various websites do not do this hotel justice, its beauty its truly breathtaking.

The service was tailor-made to anything any everything we could have wanted. Fabien (food/drink and general genie) is our personal concierge. Your wish is quite literally his and his staff’s command – our stay wouldn’t have been as amazing as it was without Fabien. It is too difficult to review everything KCB was to us, but a short synopsis; breakfast by the pool, on your private Terrance with delicious breads and jams, lunch by the pool with a fresh daily menu, chauffer driven 4X4 to any location you wish, recommendations for restaurants which are private and romantic, a candle lit dinner at the hotel which was enchanting and magical, hiking in mountains are a few of the things Ksar char bagh allowed us to experience

Everything about KCB is exquisite- it is one of the most beautiul hotels in Marrakesh, having visited both the Royal Mansour and La Mamounia . If you and the person you love want to visit another word for a few days and experience something truly, Ksar char bagh is the place your dreams will come true.

We spend the day "at the pool", heated pool that is, being treated like kings and queens with our daughter of 4 years. The best day off from the buzz of Marracesh, where we needed a break. Super lunch, top service, brilliant spa all this to please our daughter with a fun day at the pool....which turned out to benefit us all. Pricy, not really for being royal for one day from noon to sunset.
