“Great Weekend Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

Spent 2 nights Diwane Marrakech - Great Location and only about 15 mins from the Airport. Rooms very clean and towels changed everyday. Hotel Staff were amazing and could not do enough for our party of 14 celebrating a 50th Birthday. Breakfast provided was a great variety of pastries/porridge/crepes/eggs/bread rolls etc and amazing orange juice. Hotel has a great morrocan feel and we were made very welcome by all the staff. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short break as great location and close to Soulks and bars/restaurants etc. Taxi's are very reasonable and we used them regulalrly to get about. Camel excusion was an amazing experience in the desert which Diwane Hotel organised for us, also used the Spa within the hotel which included a great Body Massage.

Enjoyed many aspects of our stay last week, and did book reading good recent reviews.HOWEVER prescription medication was stolen from room and staff completely uninterested in helping. Room was cold but was clean. We found the food plentiful and adequate but not very varied.I agree that the location is good and we enjoyed a couple of trips quad biking and to the 3 valleys on recommendation from trip advisor.

Just got back from this hotel just over a week ago with one of my BFFs. The service was at a very high standard. The staff are very friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is alive. It has a lovely feel. The Moroccan design is amazing! The hotel is also in a great location. Bus 19 travels to and fro the airport in just 25mins for only 50dirhams(£3.59) return! The bus stops 2mins away from the hotel.

Special thanks to the lovely kitchen staff especially Hamid and the gentleman and lady who made the Moroccan pancakes in the mornings (forever smiling). You really made us feel welcomed. Special thanks also to the lovely room service lady who made swans out of towels, decorated my room with roses and rose petals and left complimentary fruit and drink - all a surprise to toast my birthday! Amazing! I was deeply touched. Special thanks to the lady masseuse with the magic fingers who gave me the best full body message ever! Special thanks also to the lovely young lady at the front desk who always had a beautiful smile. Thanks to the tall, slim, mature gentleman at the frontless that allowed us to check in 45mins earlier than permitted. Thanks to the lovely gentleman that helped us with our bags to our room.

There is only Wifi in the lobby but you will get a signal on the first floor. We stayed in room 104 and we had wifi. There was a strong signal at quiet times.

Special thanks to our privately hired cab men Ahmed (tel: 0667598836 CAB 451) and Mohammed 0661478138). Thanks for taking us around Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains. Thanks also for taking such great care of us and your lovely disposition.

Morocco is amazing! So much to see and do. My highlights were the food, full body message, camel riding at Palmarie, having lunch in a river, the Atlas Mountains and the beautiful decorations provided by my hotel. Crossing the road could be a hassle though :). LOL! But hey all part of the experience.

Totally agree with other reviews that the Diwane is not a 4 star hotel and the pictures online are quite deceptive. However, the location is within easy walking distance of the Medina and the cafés and restaurants near the hotel are good. The cost of our stay was peanuts so we were happy to eat out on occasions rather than take advantage of the half-board option. We found the food in the hotel ok but the hot dishes served at the buffet were cold. In reality you cannot expect luxury hotel standards for the price the Diwane charges.
Also have to disagree with other reviewers regarding the staff. We found the reception staff to be very helpful. Yes, there were language barriers but the staff did their best to deal with all our requests and we were not charged for the two phone calls they made on our behalf - one of which was to arrange our airport transfer.

Room Tip: Floor 5 with a balcony overlooking the pool and outdoor dining area is great for soaking up the sun.

Chose this Hotel on the strength of some of the reviews here, but was disappointed. The reception staff are surly and rude, the room felt dusty and airless, beds very firm, but clean cotton linen every day. Bathroom adequate (although could do with a spruce up), huge bath and lots of hot water clean towels daily. The restaurant served a buffet breakfast and dinner, choices were unimaginative and quite tasteless. The staff appear to be overworked and unhappy, so the whole hotel ambience was depressing. However if you brave the streets around the back of the hotel there are some lovely French and Italian restaurants, we were so glad that we we only B&B at the hotel. I would not return to the Diwane Hotel, and would suggest staying nearer the Medina would give an atmospheric experience.

I was in Diwane last week for 4 nights with my fiancee. We bought the holyday from Groupon and the hotel was advertised as a 4 stars l. Honestly, speaking in terms of Eurpoean standars, it's not more than a 3.
The premises are a little bit old and rough, the hotel itself was a freezing night mare in JAnuary and we had to heat up the room with the air con. The room was big enough but very dated and the bathroom was alittle bit rusty.
The worst thing of the hotel was the noise. All night. From outside a from people sceaming and shouting in the corridors and in the hall. Eve if we phone the reception at 3 am to tell them we were woken up every 10 minutes by people shouting they did not tdo anything, even if we reported it again the day after.
The only real good thing about the hotel was the breakfast, which was really nice and we had loads of choiches.
French is widely spoken in the hotel and everybody in the reception undestood english, while there was a huge language barrier with everyone else

This hotel is not 4 stars hotel! It's just a basic hotel (nothing can tell it's 4 stars, no coffee & tea complimentary in the room and the guests are not allowed to bring any water & drinks from outside into the hotel, you must buy from the hotel only! The unfriendly security guy who stand at the front door will keep the eyes & stop you straightaway when he saw the shopping bags in your hand, what a service!)

The hotel restaurant is very dirty & the staffs are lazy to do their job, they just stand & talk to each others & look at the guests like the prisoner. How uncomfortable!

To be fair, some staffs are nice, helpful & service minded, especially the house keepers. They did a very good job, but some don't do much at all. The women seem to do all the work while the men just stand about patting themselves on the backs.

The best thing about the hotel are......... 1. Location, it's very easy to get from/to the airport by the bus No.19 (cost 30 dirham/one way or 50 dirham/return) , the bus will stop at the front of the hotel. And very easy to walk to Djemaa el fna square, only 25 mins walk.
Along the Mohamad V Ave. further north from the hotel, there're a lot of cheap restaurants & eateries (much cheaper than the food stalls in Djemaa el fna square, the prices there are a rip off!)

2. The money exchange at the hotel counter is the best rates in town. We always changed money from there.

Room Tip: If you like the noise, please ask the reception for the higer floor
