“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013 via mobile

The hotel is nice place to stay, located on very good position. Definitely there is in need of refurbishment, however, it is still offers very pleasant stay. Rooms are decorated in the traditional still and lobby is great place as well as the terrace. Personnel is definitely more professional and responsive than than it has been experienced in other Moroccan hotels, with workable and prompt room service. Food is variation of the same standard one that can be found in the middle category of the Moroccan hotels but it is fairly good. It is short stay hotel, mainly for the tourist groups, but I will recommend it as good value for the money paid. Plenty of cafes and restaurants in the vicinity is definitely additional positive side of the hotel and its location.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 days and were very happy throughout our stay.
Everyone at the hotel, i e.
- porters
- cleaning staff
- Staff in the restaurant
- Staff at the pool
- reception staff
basically everyone made sure that our stay was a pleasant one. Any problems were sorted out in a very efficient manner.
On a personal note, I would like to relate an incident, which proves that the staff are very considerate when faced with a situation. The incident is:-
"During our stay, I managed to upset my wife on a small matter. In order to make amends, I asked the reception staff (about 8.00 pm), if they could get some flowers for my wife and place them in the room. At that point as were going out for dinner. So, the reception staff had about 2 hours to sort out my issue.
When we returned to our room, the bed was decorated with flowers in the shapes of animals and hearts. My wife was very pleased with this intricate decoration. We took some pictures.
This shows that the staff made sure that they were able to look after their guests in a personal manner."
The cleaning staff were excellent and also very helpful.

I would certainly recommend this hotel. Personal care is excellent. It is like a family atmosphere.

Best wishes to all staff,

Overall stay mid September was ok, (unfortunately the weather was not nice).
Big minus although its not the hotels fault there is a building site right across the street so all day long starting early there is drilling and hammering- also it's central so you always hear traffic and beeping . Shame as it makes the pool that's nice less relaxing.
The doors and windows and wals let all the noise in (cleaners chatting in the hall etc.) so having a lie in is near impossible.
Big plus is very central 30mad should get you anywhere with a cab, so ideal for exploring not so much for relaxing.

Check in was friendly English was spoken but no welcome drink. as we checked in reasonably late we probably got the last room in the hotel 4th floor street view no balcony not nice, having complained we were promised a nicer room the next day as hotel was full.

Room 212 on second flor was lots nicer with balcony and courtyard view.
Hotel and rooms were clean and cleaning personal made lovely decorations on the bed one day and always provided fresh towels. No empty dishes stood for long all was cleaned away promptly.

Breakfast buffet was ok very strange they left the cling film on all the plates and bowls, as recommendation to management take it off it looks cheap and unappealing and you have enough staff. There was musli salad cheese meat vegetable egg and a lady making some sort of chapati bread fresh also nice coffe and tea.

Lunch menu is ok choice of 3 (starters, mains, and deserts).

Dinner buffet I couldn't fault lots of choice some things maybe a bit plain but there is marinated veg, chilli paste and olives that give the meal a great flavour!

The hotel has its own spa (didn't go seems nice price average 200-300 for treatments).

The pool is large with plenty of sunbeds - take music as music by the pool isn't great and again you have the noise of the building site.

Staff is relatively friendly and doesn't hassle you which is kind of nice if you want something staff is always happy to bring it the pool boy is also very attentive.

Should you stay at the hotel? If you want just a bed to stay and than explore and get a good deal for it yes, if you want to relax a bit in the hotel and want it a bit quiet or luxurious I recommend looking elsewhere. I would probably spend a bit more for a quieter place.

We stayed here in July for a 4 day break. It was on the main road so its easy to get a taxi or bus. We even took a walk to the Temple in the Medina, it was bout a 15-20min walk.
The rooms were clean and tidy, the aircon was nice. Balconys were small but it didnt matter to us. Bathroom was clean and toilet was in a seperate part from the shower which was good.
Pool area was clean and towels were provided along with umbrellas.
We stayed B&B only, which was ok as they had a good variety of foods to choose from. We decided to venture outside to eat other meals just incase we didnt like it.

We had a nice time for our short break. Would recommend it.

Room Tip: As for Pool view as the area is getting developed so the otherside is a building site.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for a week and we found it adequate considering how little we paid. The reception staff speak great english and are very friendly and helpful. The pool is spotlessly clean and really big, great for cooling off in the summer months. The only thing I would say is that the sunbeds don't get sun all day due to the high walls of surrounding buildings. This is likely common on city breaks though. We were on a b&b basis but we only ate breakfast twice. Can't say I was particularly impressed, the pastries were stale and the bread was a bit hard. Never got to sample the freshly made omelettes or pancakes because there was quite a big queue, so probably better to head down early. We're not really breakfast people anyway and I guess you get what you pay for. Our room was pretty nice, however we requested a double bed and didn't get this, not sure the hotel do double beds actually. We also requested a quiet floor and unfortunately our room was directly above the restaurant which meant we could hear everyone scraping their chairs at mealtimes. It was very annoying in the morning, but to be fair we never reported this to reception to give them a chance to rectify. The bath seemed to have some ingrained mud on it which couldn't be lifted. Apart from this everything was good, air conditioning was very good as was the maid service. The hotel is located in a busy part of the gueliz area in the new town. There are many nice restaurant nearby , try l'annexe and ultimo baccio, both just round the corner if you fancy a change from Moroccan cuisine. It's a short distance in a taxi to the main square in the new town. It cost us 50 dirham either way in a taxi. However we were probably being ripped off and you could get it cheaper no doubt. A word of warning. When checking into our room the concierge man helped us with our luggage and my boyfriend tipped him 20 dirham. He then asked if we wanted air con and I told him we did. He said it would be 20 dirham for the week (around £1.60 so hardly a likely weekly cost). Since the remote was already in the room I doubted you had to pay for it at all. I told him we would pay at reception later. No one mentioned air con costing anything at any other point in the holiday and I'm sure he was just trying to scam us so be careful. To sum up, the hotel was a great place to sleep and shower and the pool was lovely. However i wouldnt have hung about much. Good value for money certainly but with a few minor points.

We booked the Diwane hotel for a cheap sunshine break before our wedding later in the year and were pleased with what we received for the money spent. On booking we had the option to upgrade from bed and breakfast to half board for around £12 each so we went ahead with this fully not ending to eat out on a number of occasions.

On arrival check was easy, efficient and the reception staff very friendly and helpful and remained so throughout the holiday. We encountered no language barrier with the which as been complained about in other reviews.

Our room was spacious, with a huge bathroom, well air conditioned, clean, well kept and had a fridge fir your use. Also had a pleasant balcony overlooking the restaurant / pool. Although not a scenic view with building sites and busy road outside the hotel (this is a city hotel so this can't be a complaint for anyone booking this) it was pleasant to sit out in the evening and listen to the surroundings and watch the daily hustle and bustle.

Food wise - breakfast was very good. Selection of pastries, breads, cooked meats, cheeses and salads (didn't try these as I'm not salad eater at breakfast) along with freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh omelettes made To order and fresh pancakes.

Evening meals always ad something I eat but would get a bit boring after a week. We at there give nights out of 7. There were always chicken, beef or lamb, fish, cous cous, vegetables and potatoes of different varieties each evening along with huge selections of salads, a soup an some yummy deserts. Again I didn't try the salads but unlike in previous reviews I didn't see any flies around them unless other lazy guests had left them uncovered. In which case what can they expect. All n all worth the extra money. Sufficient but nothing amazing.

We really liked the pool but we found it frustrating on some days having to wait ages for towels when the pool guy was nowhere to be seen. It is also annoying only getting one towel each which isn't big enough to cover the sunbed. In the 40degree heat the beds got so hot they were painful to touch if not covered.

The only other things letting this hotel down are drinks prices - we tended to buy our alcohol at the supermarket up the road (Acima - turn right up the main road then left at the next major junction) and drink on the balcony. We were never stopped going into the hotel but didn't walk in with supermarket bags. Also the lunchtime restaurant staff were unbelievably slow.

One more major plus point is that before leaving the reception staff stored our luggage and gave us a courtesy room to shower in after a day in the pool free of charge.

If I could summarise this hotel in one sentence: very good value for money with friendly staff and a very convenient central
city location. Anyone disagreeing with this needs to bear in mind the price. You can't expect a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget. We had friends staying at the Sofitel who spent probably four times as much for on,y four nights.

On a last note - the sky bar at the hotel across the road and the kaz bar just down the road were fantastic for drinks and cocktails albeit pricey (but ths was the same everywhere in Marrakech)

My friend and I have just returned from a short break to Marrakech. We opted for this hotel ultimately for its location and we felt we got a good deal on half board. Our room was on the top floor and was over looking the pool and yes as others have said, it looked like work was going on nearby but don't let that spoil your time. We had no issue with the room and was glad there was a fridge as we could put bottles of water away. Only thing as others have said they do make a fuss over food/drink coming into the hotel - there is a sign on the door. It is cheaper to go to one of the local corner shops and get a bottle of water for about 6 dirhams whereas in the hotel it is 22.

We walked every where, the only day we did not was when we went to Atlas Mountains for a day trip.

The tourist information centre is nearby, we recommned a day trip to the Atlas Mountains.

In terms of the hotel, food was fine, yes there were a a couple flies we saw and two birds appeared one morning. It is hot and they fly about. Basic food was chicken, fish and meat (there were various variations for lunch/dinner).

It was a buffet service for both meals. Personally i would not want to do half board for a week, 3/4 days was sufficient.

If you are not happy about the local food, there is a mcdonalds, pizza hut, kfc nearby (within 15 mins walk).

Also we found a lovely italian run by a lovely french family. It is called Little Italy city. When you come out of the hotel on the main road, turn right and cross the road and you will find it. Perfectly cosy and lovely food.

Across the road fromt he Hotel is Le Reinessance where you will find Sky Bar. A lovely little find, and thanks to those who suggested it on here.

Cheese Me which is nearby is somewhere definitely to go.

Finally comments have been made about cats, this is a city issue, we saw dogs too. We saw no cats at the hotel last week. We saw 4 during our stay when we went out and about in the city.

We actually saw a lot more near Atlas Mountains.

We definitely recommend this hotel as a central location to visit the city and are glad we did not stay in the Medina.

This is more of a 3* hotel at best but clearly is considered a 4 by Moroccan standards.

We have seen many negative reviews complaining about various things, food seems to be a big issue. As said there are other options.

We found out one hotel cost 1500 euros a night, so if you want flashy hotels go there. There are plenty of other resort hotels in the area you can stay in.

Go with an open mind, you are visiting another country, experience another culture. Apart from a couple of times, where had some people hassling us to buy stuff we found Moroccan people really warm and friendly.
