“Perfect last night in Morocco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

After two weeks in Morocco, we decided to treat ourselves to a beautiful riad for our last night - we could not have picked better. This riad is absolutely stunning and the staff is friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again.

The Riad is beautiful, the location is fantastic (assuming you want to spend time in the Square and the souks), and the staff was like having a personal concierge 24x7. The place is intimate, quiet, clean, and just large enough for us. Nice amenities like breakfast on the rooftop every morning, rose petals on the bed, a plunge pool (which was nice given the August heat), and a room for reading or games. Our room had a quiet air conditioning unit, a wonderful bed with crisp linens, a safe, and a large bathroom with open shower. There's no TV, but there is free wifi, so just bring your device if you need electronic entertainment. The staff made arrangements for a trip to the mountains, a city guide, getting our laundry done, finding a hamam, reserving a camel ride, etc. They gave us a mobile phone with their numbers preprogrammed in case we ever got lost or needed help. They were absolutely wonderful. There are more luxurious places I'm sure, but I don't think I Could have been happier given our great location and personalized attention.

When I did my research to find a Riad in Marrakech for the first few days of our holiday I could not believe how many there were to choose from and they all sound good. But how lucky were we to have chosen this one! It truly is a gem. There are few places where I can honestly say there was nothing to find fault with. The moment you step through the door you are treated as if you are the only people in the Riad. The rooms are beautiful, very clean, super bathrooms, most importantly cool! The Riad itself is calm and peaceful with a lovely pool ( larger than most Riads which usually have dip pools) which is exactly what you need after shopping or sightseeing in the Medina. But most wonderful of all, it is the staff that make this place so amazing!
Aziz, Jamal and Ismail are so attentive without being intrusive. They give great advice about where to go, eat, sightsee etc but when you return they greet you at the door as if you are coming home! There are no strict timings for anything, it just happens when you want it to!
It really couldn't be more perfect. We had 3 of the rooms but I would also recommend this beautiful Riad for large groups of family and friends when you could take over the whole place.
The location was also fantastic. When you do your research, stop at this one and don't waste time looking any further!

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms tend to be cooler although all have air conditioning. If you have children tr...

My husband and I stayed in this lovely Riad for 5 nights with 7 of our friends. It was fantastic. From the moment you arrive, where they meet you with hot face towels and tea, to the thorough orientation to the Riad and the Medina, to the wonderful food and drink (including good Moroccan wine) to the lovely views from the rooftop, to the small pool to cool off, to the pet box turtle who lives in the lobby, everything about the place was magical. The staff are warm, competent, and seemingly indefatiguable despite many requests from our crowd. If we wanted to eat out, they recommended wonderful places to go. One of our favorite activities was the cooking class with Gemma (which I will review separately), which the Riad set up for us ("Souk Cousine") and it fully lived up to their recommendations. One wonderful touch is that the Riad provides a cell phone to each person for free that can be used throughout the city. Therefore, if you are in the souks and are not sure how to return to the Riad, you can use the phone. This was also wonderful for a large group such as ours, because we could easily find each other or phone each other about changes in plans. You will have a wonderful experience at this lovely Riad!

Dear guest,

Thank you so much for your visit at l’Orangeraie and your positive review about your time at the riad.

We are really pleased that you enjoyed your visit and appreciate the quality of the service and recommendations provided by our staff. We provided a mobile phone to each room since the beginning of March this year and it seems that most of our guests find this to be very useful. Thank you for outlining this.

We all really hope to have you stay again in the future.

Riad l'Orangeraie is serene, beautiful, and well located--but all of those great attributes pale in comparison to the extraordinary service. Aziz, one of the two concierges (for lack of a better word, though that doesn't fully describe all that they do), met my taxi at the gate to the medina, with a cart for my bag. After a short walk to the riad, I sat down in a comfortable alcove for mint tea, biscuits, and a tour by map of the city. Aziz pointed out good places to visit and areas with excellent but little known (to tourists) restaurants, and made sure I had everything I needed. And that attention continued throughout my stay, by both Aziz and Jamal, the other concierge (Aziz and Jamal alternate days). Ismail and all the staff were great too. The riad was an oasis in a beautiful but busy city, and the service made me never, ever want to leave--and to hurry back as soon as possible. I also recommend a visit to the Maison de la Photographie, which I wouldn't have known of but for Aziz's recommendation.

Stepping into this Riad, through the large wooden door, reminded me of the book 'the secret garden'. It was like stepping into a piece of paradise. Beautiful rooms, roof terrace and exceptionally friendly staff who were always willing to help no matter how early or late it was. I would personally like to thank Cyril, lsmal, Aziz, Jimahl and all the other members of staff for making this trip such a wonderful experience.

Friends who joined me on a trip to Marrakech were experiencing Morocco for the first time. Some were feeling a little bit of apprehension about the trip. The minute we arrived though everything fell into place. Our driver Mouusine was organized, professional and spoke English well.
At the ancient city gate to the riad, we were met by Aziz who became our den mother for the rest of the week...a super wonderful person who made anything possible. Jamal and the rest of the staff were excellent as well. The owner Cyril was exceptionally helpful before, during and after the trip.
We all felt so safe and comfortable and cared for. The food was divine..breakfasts so delicious and tagines, some of the best food we had in Marrakech and it was all excellent.
Genevieve and Nadia were looking after the rooms and kitchen and not sure who did the cooking but their mother taught them well! We felt we had an extended family for a week and enjoyed everyone immensely. It was a big part of the visit. We all want to come back and share this warm and friendly place with our families. I highly recommend this riad over a hotel..lots of hot water and rooms equipped with snacks, water and the best smelling orange scented soap! Quiet too.

Room Tip: No fitness centre but you will walk a lot in Marrakech and then go to local Hammam for a full massag...
