“The Riad Kniza is the perfect place to stay in Marrakech.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2010

My husband and I spent several days at the end of April at this fantastic riad, and in 40 years of travel, we have never stayed anywhere to match it. From the driver who met us at the airport (he gave us a mini-tour explaining the miles of roses, the old walls, some history), to Kamal, his father Mohamed, and the staff, to our wonderful guide Omar, everyone at the riad went out of their way to be friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The service is incredible: every request we made was seen to, promptly and graciously, and there were great suggestions to help with our sightseeing, shopping, dining, etc. They can arrange almost anything: a trip to the High Atlas, a drive to Casablanca, having your purchases (some from the family antique shop) packed and delivered to your home.
The workmanship in the riad is incredible: hand-carved wood and plaster, beautiful tiles, fountains, fireplaces. It took three years to restore the first part, and two further years to renovate the second section with additional rooms, the pool and spa. The fabric, paintings, furniture and antiques used everywhere are lovely and very impressive. The layout of the riad, with many salons, small areas to sit, the wonderful roof terrace, the pool area, and even the small library nook, provides many places to have a meal or a drink, and the staff is very happy to indulge your whims.
The riad provided us with a guide, Omar, for the first morning we were there, and he was so terrific - friendly and helpful and knowledgeable - that we hired him to come with us the next day. And when on Sunday the ATM machine ate my husband's card, Omar insisted on coming by on Monday morning and taking my husband to the bank to help him get the card back.
The Bouskri family own the Riad Kniza; Kamal, who manages the hotel, and his father, Mohamed, who drops in frequently, are both charming and gracious hosts who want you to enjoy Marrakech and your stay at the riad. The food is superb, and the staff and chef are happy to fix you a snack, sandwich, or meal if you just ask. Our suite was quiet, air conditioned, and beautifully appointed, with sofas, desk and chairs, free WiFi, fruit and pastries, a wonderfully comfortable bed, safe, bathrobes, hairdryer, etc. We felt pampered and cared for every moment we were in Marrakech, and are eagerly looking forward to a return visit.

I spent 4 lovely days with my son and daughter in Riad Kniza. The location was good, in the north of the medina, though a bit far from Jemaa El Fna. Service was excellent, everybody was so kind and helpful, nothing was too much for them.
I loved the mint tea they served with delicious cookies when we returned to the hotel in the afternoon. The public spaces were beautiful, and so was the terrace, with plenty of cactus.
We had a good meal at dinner and breakfasts were ok with fresh orange juice which was excellent.
Our room was The Amber Suite , a two floor suite with 2 toilets. I found the suite a bit dark and didn't like the bedcovers, I found them too heavy , they were different from the bedcover we see in the website photos. We slept very well because the beds were comfortable.
All in all I loved my stay in Riad Kniza and fell in love with Marrakech!

This small riad located in the old mdina of Marrakech is an absolute delight. Beautiful antiques everywhere, service second to none, wonderful food....it is hard to find anything to criticise about this place. We spent a wonderful three nights here and will certainly return.

I have stayed in many places worldwide from 5* lodges in Africa to boutique hotels in LA and none have compared to the service, friendliness and overall experience of this hotel.
They truely make you feel like a friend rather than a guest and nothing is ever too much trouble.

I love this hotel especially as its in real Marrakech .. Down a small alley where the locals shop and buy and you hardly see tourists but you always feel safe no matter what time of night. Outside its crazy and people buying / selling produce - riding motorbikes with their whole family strapped to the back... walking their carts full of fruit and veg but as soon as you step inside the Riad - all the noise dissapears (I really dont know how they do it)

The rooms are lovely are looked after immaculately including turn down service and an extra tidy up before you go bed for the night.

Breakfast delicious - mainly sweet pastries etc - be sure to ask if you would like eggs or anything else however all of it is lovely (orange juice is yum!!)

I've never felt the urge to write one of these before - that's how great this place was - But you won't be dissapointed!

My husband and I stayed at Riad Kniza for 4 nights in April. For 3 nights we were in Suite Kenza and one night in Deluxe Room Samar. Everything about this Riad was wonderful. The rooms, the service, the breakfast, the mint tea, the staff, the owners, the location, their recommendations...We can't wait to go back again one day.

My wife and I loved this riad. It had everything: beautiful antique Moroccan decor, nice indoor swimming pool, great views from the roof garden, excellent location within the Medina, friendly staff, quiet atmosphere, and delicious food. It is authentic with a sense of place unlike the huge, Hollywood-style La Mamounia which could be located anywhere. If you want a feeling of the old Marrakech, stay in the Medina and choose Riad Kniza.
