We arrived at 10 in the evening, knackered and a little stressed as our travel company driver could not find the Riad, so we had to leg it for 20 mins complete with luggage. Thank you the inventor of suitcase wheels.
As we entered the Riad we certainly found a very different world from the hustle outside, a light dinner had been arranged and this level of predictive, high quality service continued consistently throughout our week long stay.
The accommodation is superbly designed, spacious and well maintained, much much better than we expected.
Food quality from a limited menu is very good, always full of flavour, with good presentation and always served wherever whenever with a gracious smile. Its also excellent value.
Room-service was a delight....friendly, quick and nothing but nothing was too much trouble.
The hamnon provided a massage which was very well received after our little hike in the mountains. Its staffed by people who really know what they are doing and on par with top London spas.
Tours were efficiently organised by Miriam and Saida, directly with the providers, and they gave us several excellent, well thought out days out, the highlight was the Atlas mountains day where we had the best lunch of our whole trip in a tiny Swiss run hotel in a Berber village.
The cost all the tours was precisely half of what our travel agent's local contact quoted. The guides are all recommended by James the owner of the Riad were first class.
There are not a lot of things James could add.... but slippers for the superb Hammon, more soap thats not screwed down, and one comfortable armchair would be useful.
The last time we stayed in Marrakesh we used the La Mamonia, its 5 star, expensive and a good experience. However it does not come near the service levels or accommodation of the Riad.
On the plus side it does has a much more extensive food and bevs offer and on balance is more suited to an extended stay. For a long weekend or up to a week we would choose the Riad every time.

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time and trouble to review Riad Farnatchi. I recall from our chats that you are very well travelled and it means so much to all of us to hear your feedback. With regard to your comment about our foodservice offering, we very much hope to be expanding that in the not too distant future. We are just waiting now for planning permission to build a restaurant in an adjacent building that will allow us to increase both the scope and, hopefully, even the quality of our lunch and dinner service. Just one last word about the slippers – we have emergency supplies of everything from European toothpaste brands to leather “babouche” slippers………… if only you’d asked!
