“Beautiful Moroccan Riad!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

The Riad Farnatchi was a beautiful oasis within the walls of the medina. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with a lot of great amenities (Molten Brown toiletries, wi-fi access, robes, etc.). The staff was very gracious and helpful - always ready with a smile and a helpful suggestion. Every morning, we had a delicious breakfast of fruit, yogurt and eggs with coffee, tea and fresh squeezed juice. We also ate lunch and dinner in the Riad and were not disappointed. The attention to detail makes the Riad Farnatchi much more than just a hotel. I would highly recommend the Riad Farnatchi to friends and family who are traveling to Marrakech.

The Riad Farnachi, is a magical place to stay, chill & dream about floating back into the past of this amazing city! The hospitality I can only say is triple AAA and our host James Wix and his Team are just the most friendly, professional, nothing is too much for them to make your stay unforgettable!

Room Tip: All the rooms are FAB!

We chose the Farnachi as I liked the look of the rooms, especially the room with the sunken bath. When i emailed to book they said they would be happy to reserve that room,.The Riad's private car collected us from Marrakech airport, where inside the car was a bottle of cold water and frozen towels to refresh us.
When the large wooden doors open you walk into the Raid which is like an oasis....it is simple stunning. We were very lucky in that there were no other guests staying at the Riad, so we have the whole place to our selfs. The owner James showed us around and indeed if we wanted we could chose which ever room we wanted. We chose the room with the sunken bath and private balcony.
Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble, we were treated like royalty. We could have breakfast whereever we liked within the Riad......we choose to have ours on our balcony every morning, fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads, pancakes and poached eggs
Every evening around 5pm they brought us a plate of canapes......we ordered wine and beers to our room and was really expecting a large bill at the end, but we were very surpised that it was very reasonable!
The inner courtyard has pool, whilst it is small it is fitted with a jet to enable you to swim against. Although we just enjoyed dipping in to cool down whilst enjoying a book and the best mint tea i have ever tasted!
We wanted a day up the mountains which James organised for us in the Riad's car, which was stocked with water, fruit and frozen towels for the journey. They also recommended us lunch at Richard Branson's retreat, which was although pricey,.....well worth the views! When we arrived back at the Riad we were greeted with a glass of mint tea and frozen towels to refresh
I cannot recommend this hotel enough.......if you like beautiful things, made to feel special and attention to detail....dont stay anywhere else, chose Riad Farnachi

I have traveled to 54 countries and stayed at numerous premium hotels. This hotel is by far the best hotel I ever seen. This is not a hotel, but rather a memorable experience of Marrakesh. From the moment you arrive at the airport and are picked up by the friendly professional staff, to the moment they say good bye to you and give you a parting gift, you are in a world you'll never want to forget.

My experience starting online. I saw the pictures of this Riad on tripadvisor, then I compared it to many others and thought, At the time, they were ranked #35 in Marrekesh. I thought that this has the most uniquely interesting rooms and the comments from the reviewers seemed more sincere than all the other Riads. I decided to email the hotel and inquire on rates. Of course, the rates are very high, so I asked if we could negotiate, which the manager did. We were able to come to an agreement on price, which satisfied both sides.

This was a surprise for my girlfriend. All my girlfriend knew was to get on a plane from Rome to Marrakesh and that someone was picking her up at the airport. The moment I saw her at the hotel, she was startled, she could not believe how magical this place truly was. The entire experience of getting from the airport to this magical hidden Gem was unique and shocking. You see people living life like they did in the year 1200. The hotel is hidden within the chaos of Marrakesh. But once inside the hotel, you are in heaven. You are greeted with some of the best cookies and mint tea I have ever tried. You are given beautiful slippers and Moroccan Robes. James, the owner, greets you personally and explains what your time at Riad Farnatchi will be like. James will personally take care of everything for you and ensure that you get the same service that the Queen of England probably experiences. When you eat at the restaurant of the hotel, you get the entire restaurant to yourself, and all the meals made are custom made meals which you decide upon in the morning with James. James will ask if you want freshly hunted rabbit or quail. The hotel only had 4 other guest. We had a Hamman to ourselves. We also had breakfast every morning in front of a fresh fire by ourselves, and served as if we were Moroccan royalty.

All in all, this hotel was a memory I will truly cherish for a long time to come. I never have married, but I believe that this place is excellent for people who have recently gotten married and want to go on their honeymoon. It is an expensive hotel, but worth every single penny you pay. But the only downside is that once you stay here, no other hotel you will stay at will ever compare.

We arrived with high expectations and Riad Farnatchi does not disappoint. The Riad is in the heart of the oldest part of the medina. You will be greeted and your luggage placed in a wheel barrel for the short walk past the stalls to the property. You are steps away from the activity of the souks and markets. The service at the property and the decor is classy in every way. Said a and Mourad and the owner helped arrange all our tours, guides, dinners, day trip to Atlas Mountains without tacking on a penny. We did all of this via email and had the most wonderful experience. The hammam treatment was great and they arranged for massages which were by far the best we have ever had. One evening we had a private dinner on the rooftop by candlelight. If what you are looking for is to experience Marrakesh the way in an authentic setting, you couldn't ask for more.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 9 , very very large on the ground floor. We felt as if the Riad was our home.

My daughter arrived the day before me and texted to say ' I think I have died and gone to heaven'. and when I arrived at Riad Farnatchi I understood why. A little piece of paradise in the centre of the old town, 5% star service though not at all intrusive, a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, fabulous accommodation, delicious food, sunroof and a spa on the way. We will be back !

I stayed at Riad Farnatchi in April 2013 for a design inspiration trip focused around Marrakech. My initial reaction was that I didn't need to bother with the rest of the city as there is enough inspiration in the road alone. From the intricately ornate plaster work to the architecture, furniture and art work - it was all beautiful. The service was also to a level i have not received before. Attention to detail was key and the staff could not do enough for us, without invading on our space at all. Breakfast is always wonderful in Morocco - but i would say this riad is a go to destination for its home made yoghurt alone and being a pain, i have a wheat intolerance so i was treated with home made gluten free pancakes for breakfast - a real treat. We also had a Hammam in the spa of the hotel. Do not give this a miss - it was pure indulgence and a real experience. We were there for 2 nights and both nights took options given by the proprietor, James and his lovely manager. The first night we went to le Comptoir where the food was the nicest i have experienced in Morocco - apart from the fresh grilled sardines in Essaouira. However i did find the atmosphere a tad crass, with the belly dancing routine being the nail in the coffin, however all fun and games and the food definitely made up for it. The next night was the real deal though - only a few yards from Franatchis door is Le Fondouk. We sat on the roof terrace and were blown away by the location. I would long go again if we could sit here as its truly spectacular. The food was great - not as nice as le Comptoir, but it didn't matter as we were overcome by the place. Both great recommendations by the team and very different. On our final day we had had enough of the heat of Marrakech and the hotel organised for us to go to The Beldi Country Club, just outside the city. It was an oasis filled with flowers, a massive swimming pool and a gorgeous restaurant. I real must. Thank you so much Riad Farnatchi!!

Room Tip: We were in room 3 - i didn't see the other rooms but I loved this one. It had a balcony over loo...
