“My 3rd and LAST EVER time in this place - going downhill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

This was to be our 3rd time in this hotel over the last 2 years, the last time we stayed here we had said we wouldnt stay again due to the terrible state of the rooms and cockroaches over the breakfast, However wanting to give them one last chance we decided to book a room for a couple of nights and almost instantly regretted it.
We were given a room on the back again 215 , it was really terrible! had we have been staying for more than 2 nights I would have demanded to change room instantly, for a start of the paint was peeling badly all over the walls, a tiny little tv , worn looking bed covers and the shower plug hole was blocked so much so that if you had a shower for more than 2 minutes it would over flow all over the tiny bathroom floor.
The air con heating was not old, worn and not working properly.
There was also quite a lot of filthy looking mold on the bathroom celing.
The breakfast in this hotel has ever been a winner with me I really did not think it could get any worse .....how wrong was I? we found the staff topping the coffee and tea up with cold water , instead of making a fresh brew when it ran out, so the coffee tasted luke warm , vile and absolutely inedible.
I found it quite Ironic that the manager of the hotel sat there in a posh suite , with his own butter and personally made coffee/tea pot on his table...if only the rooms matched his suite !

The owners of this hotel have took their eye of the ball, or they just do not care, its not good enough at all, they make enough money to clean those rooms up and offer a decent breakfast atleast, in the last 2 years I been to this hotel I have seen not ONE change, nothing new or painted, all the same. so ryad moagador you will just be known as a slummy hotel from now on and Im never reccommneding you to others as I once did before.

Hotel rooms were dirty and the hotel smelt . Very noisy outside as right on a busy road. Food was ok and waiters were friendly, we didn't pay a lot for the hotel so shouldn't really complain. Just wish they would clean the rooms . Was a welcome break from England's cold weather as was warm and sunny. It was a experience but would not go again

We were meant to stay at the Opera but got put into this hotel. It was dark when we arrived but it still looked dirty and smelly. Our room on the 5th floor overlooked the bus station which was noisy untill at least 3 in the morning when I must have fell asleep. The flush wouldnt stop running, the door didnt lock properly, the windows dint close properly, the air con had a 6 inch gap all around it.Do I need to go on.Breakfast was terrible,a few pastries,a boiled egg and weak coffee. We were here for approx 8 hours and moved first thing after breakfast.I would avoid this place if you have any standards.

The hotel was a budget price but this was reflected in the quality of the rooms. We moved from the 2nd floor which was quite basic to the 5th floor which had been refurbished and was better. Breakfast was basic but adequate. It was a good location for the airport bus which stopped over the road. Overall value for the money we paid. The rooms at the front of the hotel are very noisy from 5.00am.

Very recently stayed at this hotel and must say that the level of cleanliness and hygiene left alot to be desired. Upon arrival i had to request a different room as the original one offered was well below par, not that i was expecting it to be the ritz but this was totally unacceptable. At times a strong sewer smell emanates throughout the hotel. The cleaning sfaff and one receptionist are friendly and helpful. The food was really bog standard and well below par which lead to me opting to dine at Amaia restaurant (excellent). The location is good enough as it is in close proximity of most attractions however it still does not amend for the poor facilities on offer as it is quite easy to get about Marrakesh wherever you are. The pool at the hotel can only be described as a wast of space, it is shallow, small and dirty, you probably wouldnt let your dog swim in it.

Room Tip: Dont be afraid to decline the first room offered if below par

stayed there nov 2012...cheap room rent, cos it was basic. staff very good as was the breakfast. Not far from night market, cost only 20 dinah for a cab if you bartered. Found the people very nice, even when you didn't buy anything. Yes they always wanted highest price, but they are arabs, what do you expect, If you cut it down to 1/3 of what they want, you have a deal. Just watch out if you visit the tanneries, some comedian will give you a spray of mint (for the smell) give a 5 minute tour and then want 200 dinah........i guess you would know what to say as a reply. overall a good trip for 4 days, but would not return, you would have seen everything locally in 4 days.

Room Tip: higher floors with view of street and view of atlas mountains

If you want an honest review please keep reading.....

Me and my sister came here for 5 days in decemeber! I've always wanted to come here and now I've been...

Hotel: downstairs is lovely, in the reception area you get free wifi but as soon as you leave it goes off and can't get it in your room. Rooms are cleaned daily, towels changed however if your expecting 5* don't! The rooms are basic, 2 bed shower/toilet in one, desk with larger mirror and wardrobe with 3 hangers.
The windows have double glazing, we were facing the main road but managed to sleep right through.
Breakfast was ok, you could defo last on it all day with boiled eggs, french stick. Fresh orange juice, hot chocolate, pancakes and other random bits.
All in all hotel staff are real nice, just don't change money up here as you get knocked. There's a bank and supermarket either side of the hotel.
Area is central to the souks in palace jamal and the plaza (KFC is next to the souks and macds is in the plaza) all in all our stay here was decent, we didn't have real high expectations for the amount we paid. There are a lot of moroccans in the hotel doind business but most are friendly. The hotel is based on the corner of a main road next to the bus station, if you don't keep your wits about you you WILL get run over as they don't stop!I saved my sister from a hospital trip on more than one occassion! Lol

Things to do and not to do: if your going out in a cab, the taxi rank is outside the front door, if u can use cab 1305 or 999 these guys are real nice and don't try and knock you for cost! If you go down to the souks and you try and take photos of the street entertainers etc, you can but then about 5 people come on you for money for the photo. There's snakes and monkeys in nappies but wasn't for me! Make sure you always agree a price as they tend to change it later unless previously agreed!! A MUST is to go to Ourika moutains and go climbing to see the waterfalls they are amaziinngggggg! Was the best day of our holiday however don't book through the hotel, we paid double the price of other people, cab drover 999 does excersions also and there all legit, well as legit as can be. We went on the camels, was fun but again agree a price, he charged 500 dirham for 30 mins and for both we got for 300.

The one thing I really disliked about marrekech as a whole were the people, the men call you 'shakira' and the women look at you like dirt! Even in tracksuits (which we spent most of our time in) w were propisitioned, now neither me nor my sister are timid and it took until the last day to tell them where to go, I feel its not a hoiday for couples or groups of women especially if ur quiet!

One last tip, when you get to the hotel you have to pay local 'taxes' of 11 dirham per person per night!

Overall the place is sitauted in the best area but the toher hotels are nicer although there's nothing around except more hotels. In the ryad the waters hot, the beds are comfy and we had a good time!
