“A magnificant Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2010

Riyad el Cadi is a relaxing place in the heart of the Marrakesh Medina. Located only a few steps away from the oriental spirit of Medina's stalls and boothes it nevertheless offers the traveller an athmosphere of tranquility and recreation. The rooms - most of them large doubles or suites - have an interior desgin which - as I can says after trying some of the riads in town - is rarely found in Marrekesh. It is a very persuasive composition of oriental and modern style, which is not as overdone "oriental" as in other places.
Although Riyad el Cadi is one of the largest and therefore probably one of the most professional guest houses in the Medina, the different courtyards provides very welcome privacy after a stroll through the Medina.
All this is completed by delicous food and a very friendly staff, which however could sometimes be a little bit more attentive.

PS: Best place is the roof terrace with its view over the Medina up to the Atlas mountains.

We've stayed at Riad el Cadi twice now--once in January 2009 and once this month--and we can't say enough great things about it. The location is perfect, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful--and the whole place is really just beautiful. This time we stayed in the Blue House and, as a small family with 1 child, we loved having 2 separate rooms and the privacy from the rest of the Riad. The place is really perfect!!!

El Cadi is situated just 5 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of the main city square and the souk yet the atmosphere inside offers an oasis of calm contrasting with the hectic outside world outside the front door.
Very welcoming and accommodating staff. Lovely clean and comfortable rooms (we had 4 rooms betweeen the group of 8 and all were great). Great food too.

This ryad is a handful of interconnecting old houses with several courtyards and roof terraces. Easy to find a quiet corner in the warm shade or up in the sunshine for a sunset drink and olives served by very friendly staff. Lot's of beautifully furnished communal bolt holes around the place too to while away the hours.

I'm normally too lazy to write up a trip advisor review but this place deserves it !
A real gem that I cannot recommend highly enough.

A lovely Riyad hidden at the end of an alley - like most hotels in Marrakesh. But don't let the route to the hotel fool you, it's a little nugget waiting to be discovered. We stayed in the Berber Suite which was just gorgeous, air-co (a must for Brits in the Moroccan weather), a bedroom with a seating area, desk, fireplace (not used!), separate WC, separate bathroom with bath and shower and a corridor with storage and wardrobes. The room had it's own private balcony which overlooked the open courtyard. Trees and birds all day with sun filtering through to brighten the room. The most amazing thing is that we researched Marrakesh before we came and identified top notch restaurants so that we eat well - the El Cadi should shout more about its own chef! We opted to eat in on a few nights and lunchtimes and the food and service were brilliant, actually better than a couple of the restaurants that we visited. El Cadi should publicise it's restaurant more to guests - it is a real winner. Hotel was clean, service was good, quality was good, price was good - can't ask for more in a city that is not famed for its hygiene. marked down on sleep quality because of the location. The El Cadi is located equi-distance between 3 or 4 Mosques. As a light sleeper I found that the 5am prayer call from all mosques woke us up every morning. Not under El Cadi's control but for a holiday early mornings were a bit of a shock waking to an unfamiliar 5am sound. El Cadi is located just 5 minutes walk from the Jemaa el Fna market square and souks so easy to get right into the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. A winner.

We stayed four nights at The Blue House, a beautiful riad within a riad. The whole place is gorgeous - calm, exquisite and we were very well looked after. The Blue House works well for families with young kids because it has three rooms around a courtyard, but the whole thing is private and self-contained. Highly recommended

We have just returned from our third stay at Riyad El Cadi and once again I'm wishing I didn't have to leave (although leaving this time was more difficult than usual due to volcanic activity)
Riyad El Cadi is simply magical. A beautiful buiding with a maze of stunning courtyards not far from Jemma El Fna. The contrast could not be more intense or theatrical. Jemma El Fna, chaos personified and Riyad El Cadi, relaxing and calm with the only disturbances birdsong and an occasional call to prayer.
Staying at the riyad is a bit like staying with family (without the difficult bits) or aquiring another home. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Service is five star without the stuffiness usually associated at this level. If you get a bit bored with tagines, the chef will cook just about anything you ask for, given a bit of notice for shopping and, weather permitting, dinner is served in one of the beautiful courtyards, under the fruit trees and stars. On out second trip we caught a dose of Dehli belly (principle suspect: ice in orange juice from Jemma El Fna) - the staff went to great lengths to make sure we were OK.
Kadija, a fount of knowledge at reception is a star and happily arranges restaurant reservations, trips and has many insider tips.
The rooms are graceful - simple decor with one or two antique pots, architectural elements and textiles scattered around (get one with a private balcony to fully appreciate the courtyards). Interesting books are scattered around for lazy periods of musing (don't miss the hidden library)
In short - a perfect experience. I think you would be mad to stay anywhere else.

We are a family with two children aged 11 and 9 and we were at Riad El Cadi for three days in an excellent suite, very nicely furnished and well kept, that we liked very much. The staff was very helpful and kind. The breakfast on the roof was a real treat with lots of very good food. There are many common areas where you can seat and read or play chess or cards. The swimming pool is small but very nice and the children got a kick out of it. It's a great place to rest and relax after walking hours in the noisy Marrakech Souk because it's very quite even though it's a couple of minutes from the big square Jemaa El Fna.
