“Amazing Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2010

We booked a 3 night stay at the Atlas Medina and Spa hotel as part of a city break deal provided by lastminute.com. In total the flights and accomodation for our stay came to less than £150 each. With this in mind I took the hotel's apparant 5 star rating with a pinch of salt and wasn't expecting it to be of the same standards as European hotels.

I was right, it wouldn't be classed as a five star hotel in the UK however it was of a very good standard. The room was very spacious and clean, clean towels were provided every day. The entire hotel had a feeling of calm throughout it and the gardens were lovely. The reception staff appeared a little uninterested but other than that the staff were wonderful.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the choice in the mornings was superb, with dishes to cater for the most fussy of eaters. In the evenings we chose to eat from the restaurant stalls in the main square, however I did hear other guests comment that the evening & room service meals provided by the hotel were not great quality.

Overall I was very impressed with the hotel given that we had paid very little for our stay. The location in the new part of the city provided us with a perfect base from which we could take a trip into the medina and enjoy the choatic sights, sounds and smells ;) which were part of it but could come back and relax in luxury in the evening.

I recently got back from a very expensive tour and this hotel should have been the highlight hotel of the tour due to it's location and precious 5 stars.
On arrival after 2pm most of the rooms were not made up. We moved to our third room becuase the first room wasnt made up. The second room was half done and the cleaner felt that the room was completed. We finally made it into our third on a different floor and found that it did not live up to it's five star standard. The room was basic and I noticed the air conditioning did not work. I complained at the front desk and they said to close the balcony doors. Whether the balcony doors are closed or not; one can hear the air con when switched on. We took it upon us not to complain and spent the night roasting to death becuase guess what the air con did not work. We awoke to find the shower not working and had to wash our hair under the bath taps.
We complained and they fixed the air conditioning but failed to sort the shower out. We spent another day with the head under the bath taps.
A female member of the tour group booked in for a hamman treatment and they are not cheap at this hotel. At no point was it pointed out to her by the female staff or written anywhere in print that after the massage you have to jump into the mixed pool naked. Obviously it was too late for this individual and when she lodged her complaint to the general manager - his response was you should have known this. He also insulted her by saying we will take off 200 dirhams of the treatment. There was no apology or any other form of compensation offered.
I just cannot understand why a five star such as this hotel could operate like this and most of the clientele are business people/ holiday makers from abroad. I personally would not go back to this hotel even if it was offered to me free.

Hotel staff find it hard to crack a smile, staff usually dull and down right rude when they want to be,(especially the girls on reception!). Our room flooded on the thrid day,(credit where credits due), we were given a another room promptly, but thats where the hospitality ended,no more enquiries from staff on how the room was,or if we were comfortable. We eventually just let them be,(should really of complained as it can spoil your whole stay!) All such a shame as the hotel itself was just beautiful!

Booked for a group of 6 of us for 5 days hotel bar and restaurant were adequate as a base for seeing the city having a few drinks and relaxing. Breakfast was particularly good and the 2 meals we ate in the restaurant were from a buffet. Pool area disappointing with few places to sit and even fewer sunbeds.

We (family of 5, 2 grown ups and 3 late teenagers!) were staying in Marrakech when the volcano erupted. Once we had appeared at the airport shortly after our flight was cancelled and were issued with another flight (which was10 days after our departure date) we were then told to put our names on the accommodation list which we duly did. We were then told that we could go to the new hotel on the bus provided but we opted to take a taxi to the hotel.

A quick note about volcanos erupting - despite what Easijet's website said which was don't go to the airport, you had to go to the airport to get a new flight date once your flight had actually been cancelled. This enabled you to get onto the accommodation list. Obviously this isn't always easy but the airport is only about a 10 min ride out of Marrakech. It really is quite a good thing to book with an EU airline as they are obliged to accommodate you and feed you once your flight has been delayed - apparently.

The hotel was absolutely lovely, booking in was completed in about 30 sec and quite frankly we were amazed that we were being accommodated in such a nice hotel - not only that we had to eat 3 meals a day!. The hotel's rooms were large, modern and the bathrooms the same. You could use the facilities of the hotel next door (can't remember the name) but the pool was actually nicer with tortoises roaming the grounds. Can't complain about anything as it was a freebie on Easijet but wouldn't anyway. The staff were extremely helpful - even to the extent of opening one of our own bottles of wine (there is an off licence and small supermarket just round the corner) supplying us with glasses and then asking us if we would like to taste the wine. Not sure what they would have done if we had said it was no good! We were originally staying at Hotel Tichka Salam which was a very pleasant hotel but this was actually nicer!

We stayed in this hotel as part of a large tour group. The room we had was clean and reasonably quiet. Fortunately it was not on the night club side of the hotel. Although the hotel is not near any shops, it is a quick 10min taxi ride to the Jemaa el Fna square. Service was average and the food was nothing to rave about. A typical tour group hotel.

Couldn't fault this hotel. In the new part of Marrakech so far enough away from the frazzle of the Medina Square. Staff were great. Food great and rooms were excellent , fresh fluffy towels and a bath robe were provided each day. The hotel was spotless. Pool and gardens were lovely. Very plush hotel. Didn't use the Spa facillities but looked excellent.
Wish we had stayed longer in this hotel instead of moving onto another "hotel" further out of the city. We had rooms overlooking the pool and gardens with a balcony so was great for sitting out at night. They had a lovely singer on each night outside at the bar near the pool. loved this hotel.
