We booked this hotel for two nights as some friends had stayed there last year, and wished hadn't really. As other reviewers said, it's old and tired inside and while some of the desk staff were helpful, others just seemed to be slightly dodgy.
At least the breakfast seemed to have improved a litle - we got a large pain au chocolat and a big bit of baguette with butter & jam, plus juice, coffee and hot milk (although this isn't as good as other hotels in Marrakech.
The room did have air-con and a TV and the shower worked.

I booked the hotel immediately after booking my flight with BA and was afterwards concerned at the number of negative Tripadvisor reports, and my expectations were therefore low.
I arrived at lunchtime and I found the room presentable with all facilities fully functioning except for the (unnecessary) volume control for the TV. The shower was very easy to operate and it produced a spray of constant temperature and pressure.
The breakfast consisted of a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, followed by a pain and half a bagette with fresh butter and jam, along with a pot of coffee enough for 2 cups.
The hotel is easily reached from the Gueliz bus stop used by the airport shuttle bus ( #19).....it's about 200m from the bus stop. It cost 3.5 Dh to get to the Jemaa El Fna square.
The staff were smiling and helpful and I would certainly happily recommend the hotel to any budget traveller.

We booked this hotel on the internet i didn't check any reviews i think that was a big mistake any way booked it for one week but when i got there it was realy disappointing it was a small room badly decorated bedsheet pillows and the curtains looked like never been changed for months, toilet wasn't in working order there was a small balcony full of dust and fume we dared to open the window once but the horible smell came from out side so we always ve to keep the window shut at all time.Beakfast was only dry bread and one glass of orange juice we asked for omelette the guy said"no egg",tea was horrible and cold. They will come into your room without even knocking .It was very noisy we couldn't sleeep at night because of trafic noise this hotel ruined my holiday i wished i never booked that hotel. We had to spend 4 days in a different hotel. Please please dont go to this hotel otherwise you will ruin your holiday

Horrible:

Noisy as you wish. Rooms are dirty and old.

The staff at the reception seems to do you a favor by giving you a room.

Avoid it!!!

Spent a week at hotel end May/June 2007 as base to see Marrakech and area. Hotel was clean and staff friendly and helpful. Room cleaned daily. The room was a reasonable size with constant hot water and working air con, which was a must as it was too noisy to have window open at night. Hotel was on the corner of a main road and as such noisy, but to be fair in this part of the New city everywhere was noisy!

The terrace bar was a pleasant place to relax at the end of the day. The views over the roof tops interesting!

The only downside was the restaurant. We only ate there once. The main course was brought out before we had finished our starter and clearly overcooked and cold. There was never anyone in the restaurant which speaks volumes I think! There is a superb restaurant opposite Le Jardin de Taverna, which appears from the outside to be ijust another building, but is actually an open air courtyard covered in plants. The ambiance was delightful and the food excellent. Their fillet steak was the best I've had anywhere.

Ideal for a few nights or as a base to explore the area.

We took several trips into the mountains and booked them through reception at a very reasonable price. Imlil and the Ourika valley were stunning as were the Cascades d'Ouzoud.

In the Medina and on trips we were constantly hassled by people trying to sell things or act as guides. It got very waring after a while and the usual smile and polite no just didn't seem to get the meassage across. I don't expect jewellery dangling in fron of my camera when I'm trying to take a photo and don't like having to turn away from people. It was a shame as I understand they need to make a living and usually try to buy some things.

  • Liked — Clean, friendly and helpful staff
  • Disliked — noisy - but in a busy area so all hotels likely to be similar
