“Interesting”

We visited the cemetry as we had been to the synagogue nearby and it was quite fascinating. Worth popping in and a few dirahms for the guards.

“Unique experience”

This Jewish cemetery is still in use, dates back to the 15th century, guides on site. Very interesting tombstones and burial preparation area.

“Bird watchers haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

Take a trip to the Jewish cemetery and sit down and chill out with a pair of bins. The place is fairly overgrown but good for birds. Larks/Barbary partridge,Bulbul,Kestrel and House Bunting. Groundsman also said little owls hide in the walls. storks fly over regularly.

“Another side of Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

This is a burial place, absolutely not like we westerners are used to.
The burial place started around 15hundred. So graves of that period are still there and you can follow the fashions changing in time.
The toombs are very close to one another and are placed completely without any order.
To prevent the toombs from decaying, they are cemented.
Well known rabbi's have a little house as toomb. One can see that people come here as a pelgrimage, since there are little alcoves made in them to be able to burn candles.
You could think that it is not well kept, since weeds grow all around, but even they have their charm.
What I do not understand is that the muslims claim to be very tolerant and that now, from the many thousands Jewish inhabitants of former days, there are only a few dozen Jews left.

“Jewish cemetery”

Near El badii and la Bahia. Don't follow the 'friendly guides' at the medina, easy to find through the big gates. Free entrance, donation appreciated.
