“Wonderful experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Riad Al-Bushra. The Riad is beautiful; tastefully decorated with thoughtful use of the space providing different areas within which to relax. We experienced fantastic hospitality from Gary and Steve, the owners, who were incredibly helpful in making our stay a very special one. The highlight of every day was the amazing breakfast feast that was served on the roof terrace; local fruit, pastries and Gary's wonderful cooking provided the perfect start to every day.

The Riad was perfectly located, just a short stroll from the main square and yet in a very quiet area of the medina. Once inside the Riad, the hustle and bustle of the city felt a million miles away and it was very easy to relax and enjoy the facilities along with the complimentary hot drinks.

During our stay we wanted to visit Essaouira and Gary very helpfully gave us the transport options with the various costs and comfort. With their local knowledge and experience, Gary and Steve were able to provide us with information so that we could get the most from our stay and we are already planning a return visit.

“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We stayed in Riad Al-Bushra during a romantic getaway to Marrakesh and Essaouira. We can absolutely recommend this gorgeous riad, run with passion and enthousiasm by the English owners. The riad is ideally located, in a nice part of the Medina, near Jemaa El Fna square, yet wonderfully quiet. The rooms are tastefully decorated, spacious, and very comfortable (quality mattresses, a real luxury!). Every morning a lovely fresh, abundant breakfast was served (on the roof terrace, in the middle of winter!). One evening we had dinner in the riad, which proved to be one of the best meals we had in Morocco: a lamb tajine with caramelised tomatoes that still makes our mouth water nostalgically...
For those who have a few days in Marrakesh, an excursion to Essaouira is well worthwile, the owners were very helpful and arranged transport for us.

Many thanks for taking the time to wrote a review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for noticing the mattresses. We bought the best mattresses available in Morocco. We are glad the investment paid off.

Everyone who goes to Essaouria seems to enjoy the experience. I recall you spent several days there before returning to us for your final night in Morocco. We also like Essaouria and are delighted you also enjoyed it.

We look forward to welcoming you back sometime soon. Thank you.

“Amazing way to start 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

This Riad has been beautifully restored and offers a tranquil base from which to explore the amazing Unesco World Heritage Site of Marrakech old town, and a retreat to return to after a days exploration. When the senses need a rest, the roof terrace of Riad Al Bushra is the ideal location to watch the sun set. The Riad offers amazing cooked breakfasts and a traditional Morrocan Feast can be arranged by appointment, which I thoroughly recommend: the most amazing food. Our hosts were available to meet any need and to offer guidance and arranged a trip to the coastal town of Essouira for us, which offered further insight into Morrocan life.
Small private pockets are available throughout the Riad, where you can read, catch up with e-mails or just relax, without feeling you have to limit yourself to your room. However should you choose to relax in your room these are the height of comfort too. We will certainly return to Riad Al Bushra again and recommend anyone heading to Marrakech check it out too.

“An oasis of luxurious calm in the heart of the bustle of the Medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

We were wowed by the sumptuous surroundings and attention to detail of the recent restoration of Riad al Bushra by its English owners. Daily cooked breakfast was a real treat along with a varied selection of local breads and pastries and gallons of freshly brewed coffee.

Our hosts were on hand to provide local information and helped us book a trip to the seaside town of Essaouira which is well worth the day out of Marrakech. We also took advantage of the opportunity to have a home cooked Moroccan meal prepared for us by a member of the Riad staff which was a wonderful experience.

Our thanks to the Riad al Bushra team for making our first impression of Morocco such a favourable one.

“Marrakech in style!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

My first visit to Marrakech was for 7 nights over the 2013 New Year and staying in Riad Al Bushra was definitely the right choice.

Firstly the location is superb - minutes from the big square and the Lakspur Gate and we were able to explore the old city on foot.
The riad has been beautifully restored and the attention to detail in the classic Moroccan decorative paintwork and plasterwork is breathtaking. Each room is distinctive, luxurious and comfortable and the en suites combine modern efficiency with classic Moroccan colours and furnishings.

Our hosts prepared marvellous breakfasts of freshly prepared fruit juices, fruit salad, a cooked course which varied daily (highlights included an egg tagine), baskets of pastries and cafetieres of good coffee. We enjoyed these in leisure on the glorious roof terrace, which also has a shaded area with traditional sofas, where I enjoyed birdsong and peace as I read in the afternoons after returning from sightseeing.

A massage was booked in house from a Moroccan and a trip to the fishing port and seaside town of Essouira was also arranged for us so we were able to relax and didn't have to negotiate these for ourselves.

Our visit began and ended with the attention to detail which was the hallmark of our stay, being transported between the airport and riad efficiently and with a warm welcome and farewell.

We appreciated the late breakfasts, it gave us a later start, but more importantly it enabled us to serve you on the roof terrace which makes all the difference. We are delighted you enjoyed the breakfast egg tagine and the fresh pastries.
