Hidden like a secret garden in the deepest of the old Medina we found the little but excelent Riad. The host Said was a perfect host and helpfull guide and the most gentle man. we felt like king and queen and the Hammam and massage was perfectly executed and made us feel so realax and welltreated. Marrakech is a beatyfull city and full of nice people. One thing is for sure - we will come back !

Charming host Said takes care of his guests as a brother from the very moment he picks you up from the taxi until the farewell tea. He makes you feel safe and he guides you to the best places. This hidden gem in the middle of the Medina is quite hard to find, but when you enter the place this quiet and serene riad feels like home immediately. The varied rooftop breakfast, the traditional dinners, the cosy candlelit courtyard, the service of this clean and beautiful Moroccan style decorated guesthouse are amazing. Dar Akal is the perfect spot for couples who want to enjoy the ultimate mix of the busy city life and excellent relaxation for a reasonable price.

The host/caretaker, Sayyid, was gracious, kind, enthusiastic, understanding and very helpful. The riad was well maintained with its traditionally crafted Moroccan design. It had a serene and comfortable feel; an elegant place to rest. There are luxurious features (hamman bath, pool, lounge) on rooftop and the ground floor to 'get away from the busy activities of the medina outside.

Staying at the center of the medina gives you the true experience of Marrakech. But the 'cost' of staying in the heart of the 'old city' is it can be a challenge in finding or getting back to your riad. The medina is a labyrinth everywhere, especially at night where getting disoriented is common.

In the end, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely book Dar Akal again.

Hidden behind an almost anonymous door, deep within the Medina, we had a very relaxing week at the delightfully tranquil oasis that is Dar Akal. Given that we were suffering from winter colds, the fact that there were lots of interesting places within easy walking distance was a bonus - we never felt "hurried" and could do everything at our own pace. The two evening meals we had at the riad were excellent value and of course, convenient - particularly after the on-site hammam followed by a massage in our own room ..... Said, the manager was attentive and extremely helpful, guiding us on a couple of more challenging routes through the alleyways and souks, sharing the cost of a taxi with us as he was going in the same direction ...to organising a trip to Ourika Valley. Marrakech is a great destination for a leisurely week, or a very different city break and Dar Akal is wonderful - do get a transfer, as you might struggle to find it on your own!

Dar Akal is a fantastic Riad in a peaceful part of the Medina. The room was large and clean and the pool on the roof was perfect after a hot day walking the souks. The varied breakfasts each morning were great. Also the staff went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend.

The Riad is a sanctuary in a very hectic city, the quiet courtyard is peaceful and beautifully decorated. Upon arrival we were greeted with mint tea and biscuits. Said, the manager was extremely friendly and helpful in planning our stay. We scheduled an excursion through the Riad that was very fun and reasonably priced. Said organized everything for us and made the trip tailored to our interests.

The breakfast was delicious and different every morning. We had two dinners there which were exceptional, the food here was better than any of the restaurants that we tried during our time in Marrakech. I would highly recommend this Riad, it was a great place to stay.

I've just spent 9 days at this wonderful oasis in the middle of the medina. The Riad is beautifully decorated, and the suite was such a luxury. Dar Akal is a perfect location for getting to know Marrakech and the outskirts. The assistance of the owners, and especially the manager Said, added greatly to the convenience of our stay. Day trips and transport were smoothly arranged. Helpful, friendly staff attended to all our needs. Meals served were delicious - better than the recommended restaurants in the area. Highly recommended! We will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the suite which was real luxury but worth every dirham!
