“TRULY AMAZING--A REAL GEM!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Our riad experience in Janurary of this year was good....but in no way compares to the fabulous March surprise that awaited us at Dar Akal! This riad is luxurious & comfortable in a perfect location to explore the wonders of Marrakech...the ambience is magnificent! The roof terrace, views, & pool are all spectacular!
Brahim, the property manager, is the MOST AMAZING HOST & the cook/chef Nezha perpares a most DELICIOUS breakfast feast...every morning new surprises to delight+flowers! The owners of Dar Akal, Patrick & Veronique, have lovingly restored this precious property with careful attention to all details...it is truly an architectural treasure with a serene atmosphere & embracing warmth! We will always return to Morocco....& only stay at Dar Akal when in Marrakech:))) Warm regards & blessings to ALL :)

I stayed with my mother in Dar Akal for a week and we really enjoyed our stay. The room, including the bathroom and toilet, was very clean and the interior design was very tasteful. Also the rest of the riad with its patio and the roof terrace was beautifully designed. As it was february, the weather was not warm, but all rooms had radiators so we managed just fine.

The service of the hotel was also very good. The manager, Brahim, was very helpful both with practical matters such as transfer from the airport and maps, as well as advice on restaurants, hammams and excursions.

The breakfasts were all home-made and delicious, and included different Marrakechi culinary delights every day.

The location inside the medina was good, with a 10 minute walk to the main square. Finding your way to and from the hotel seemed a little daunting at first, but after a day or two, and with the help of Brahim's hand-drawn map, it was not a problem.

Room Tip: We had the suite with two bedrooms and a window in the ceiling, which was really nice. The other roo...

I have been to many different riads in the medina of Marrakesh. But this rather new riad is my absolute favorite now! The rooms are tastefully decorated with old pictures from the maison de la photographie, which is around the corner by the way, the courtyard with the big banana tree and papyrus plants is a haven of tranquility midst the lively medina. Brahim, the manager is a lovely host with great expertise on the city, the service and food is excellent. I definitely recommend the Dar Akal to anyone looking for a small riad in the medina with five star service in a familiar atmosphere!

This is a beautiful riad in the heart of the Medina, about 15 minutes walk from the main square, Jemaa El Fna. A quiet haven away from the chaos and bustle of the old city. Rooms are clean and the service excellent. Brahim, the manager, couldn´t do enough to help us, he followed us or drew us maps so that we wouldn´t get lost and was there whenever we needed him. The two girls who looked after us in our rooms and for meals were also so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We had an unforgettable stay in Marrakech and Riad Dar Akal was, without doubt, a great part of our experience.

my boyfriend and i stayed at dar akal for a total of 4 nights while visiting morocco for the 1st time in late november. brahim, the manager of the riad, was a fantastic host, advisor and now friend. since we were visiting marrakech during low-season, we were the only guests at the riad and although we had reserved the azzouna room, brahim (and owners patrick/veronique) let us stay in the BEAUTIFUL and exquisitely detailed suite (douiria) for all four nights. the food was wonderful (the best we had during our whole trip!) and brahim's warm hospitality was welcome after 2 days spent exploring the fantastically chaotic medina, a day trip to essaouira (which he helped arrange) and on our last night (after a 4-day self-guided excursion) to the south. a little tucked back in the medina, off the main “strip” -- it was definitely in a quieter part of the old city. but this definitely added to the charm and mystery while using brahim’s hand-drawn (and very helpful!) map to get to and from the riad. walking distance to the main square (Jemaa el-Fnaa) was about 12-15 mins… but totally worth every step. highly recommended.

Room Tip: the rooms are spacious and beautifully detailed, clean -- with wonderfully comfy and warm beds. the...

We were recommended to stay here by Riad Safa as they were fully booked on the last night of our time in Morocco. They kindly organized everything for us. The Riad is brand new. It is beautifully appointed with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with the most modern decor.
Brahim, the manager was very helpful and we had an excellent and generous breakfast and evening meal.
The substantial pool is being completed on the picturesque rooftop terrace. I suspect this will become a very popular Riad in Marrakech.
