If you want an amazing place to stay that makes you feel at home the second you walk through the door this is it.
We opted for the raid's airport transfer which was ideal as we wouldn't have found it on our own down all the winding streets. We were met By Ali from the taxi transfer who carried our cases for us to the riad. Once inside we were greeted with Moroccan tea and pastries introduced to Mohammad the manager and told to please feel that this was our home while we were there. We were given maps and taken to the amazing rooftop terrace and shown landmarks to stop us getting lost when venturing out. We were also given Mohammad's mobile number just in case. The directions and tips must have worked because we didn't get lost once.
The interior of the riad is really lovely with traditional Moroccan decor. Our room was amazing ( we had the suit which I highly recommend), huge, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed.
The rooftop terrace overlooks the city wall and has amazing views of the Atlas mountains ,the new city and Koutoubia Mosque. We had breakfast there every morning of pancakes, pastries, omelets, yogurt, bread, delicious jams, tea or coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. We also spent a couple of wonderful evenings on the terrace relaxing in the Berber tent style seating area, watching the most amazing sunsets with new found friends.
We arranged to have dinner at the riad on one evening and couldn't fault it ( thank you Abdul) a delicious , freshly prepared lamb tagine - yummy at a very reasonable price.
We also took advantage of some of the trips the raid offered. A two hour Caleche tour round the new and old cities . We went just before sunset which was perfect .
We also tried the Hammam they recommend and I can honestly say it was the best massage I've ever had .
The other trip we opted for was a two day tour over the Atlas mountain passes to Zagora then an hour's camel ride to spend the night in the desert . If you have time I really recommend this trip , there's a lot of traveling involved but it's definitely worth it.
With any of these trips or even just you're first time out of the riad, Mohammad or one of the other staff will walk with you to meet your taxi or Caleche or just show you the way to were you want to go. What a great service!
All in all we felt so well looked after during our stay we really did feel like we were staying with family. A huge than you Mohammad ( and also to Abdul, Ali and everyone at Dar Dubai ) for making a great holiday perfect .
