We have now eaten at Cafe Kasbah 3 times, and the food & service have never been anything other than first class.
The downstairs cafe, almost opposite the Saadian tombs in the Kasbah district, gives no indication of what is on offer if you walk up the two flights of stairs to the Terrace.
The views are simply outstanding, whether you choose to go at lunchtime or in the evenings - especially as there is now a stork's nest on an old pillar, so , depending on which table you choose, you can watch the birds' comings and goings by way of entertainment and there is also plenty to watch going on in the street below. When it is really hot, certain tables are subject to the 'fine mist' spray at shoulder height, which, judging on observed behaviour, some people really appreciate & others can't abide.
The menu is all written on blackboards, so is relatively shot & uncomplicated. Staff are friendly, helpful & very efficient. Everything is immaculate.
The food is all beautifully presented. A small cup of something in a rich colour usually arrives first- last time we visited it was a drink made from beetroot, so was the most amazing deep red. I had gaspacho as a starter: it was delicious and almost a meal in itself. As for the main courses, the plates have real appetite appeal, with the focus being very much on the main components of the dish. There are no extra garnishes or other 'frills' to distract from the meal itself.
Meals ( I would especially recommend the brochettes) always comprise of fresh, high quality ingredients, simply cooked, resulting in a delicious taste experience, leaving little room for even the lightest of desserts.
You can also go up to enjoy the Terrace just for the price of a cup of coffee, if you feel so inclined - but why not treat yourself to an assault on all the senses here? I 'm sure it would be hard to find a better all round dining experience anywhere in Marrakech.
