“An experienced and very helpful host in a wonderful Riad in the centre of the Medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

An experienced and very helpful host in a wonderful Riad in the centre of the Medina. Philippe knows all about the city and the coast and helps arrange transport and recommends restaurants
While within the Medina there is little or no vehicular or taxi transport the walk through the narrow alleys is worth it when going through the solid timber door to a wonderful light filled courtyard surrounded by the balcony leading to the bedrooms. Ask Philippe to arrange a one day trip to the Atlas Mountains with the guide Shariffe

Room Tip: All good but no wifi on upper rooms Use the roof terrace

We enjoyed a fantastic weekend in the heart of the Marrakech Medina exploring the bright and busy market streets. Riad Magellan was a beautiful, quiet oasis just steps away. Walking through the door was entering a different world.

This riad has nothing special, for me it would be an average riad. It is very quite and clean, and you will sleep like a baby. For the rest I'm afraid we are far from something beautiful and romantic. The breakfast is far from the usual morocan sweetnesses and diversity, no msemem, the bred (mharach) was cold and not home made, the tea was ordinary and with no flavor, but the orange juice was good and the pancakes where not so bad. I am not to hard telling my deception as I have travel through all Morocco and even in desert places you have wonderful breakfast and the staff is more effective .So for the price you really expect better. It's not a bad place to be and people coming from europe knowing nothing about Morocco might enjoy it but it certainly not the best riad to be !

Dear guest, I am sorry if our Riad did not meet your expectations. I do not exactly understand what you disliked except for the breakfast, which makes your quote appear very tough. You did not get msemen for we change the home-made pastry served on a 3 days cycle, to avoid boredom for guests: there is a msemen served every 3 mornings. As for tea, we serve standard quality lipton tea, which is usually fine for guests at breakfast, provided that we are not a luxury place. At last, bread is not home-made but bought in the Medina every morning so that it is fresh. But be sure I will pay attention to our breakfast standard in the future! Philippe (Owner)

We began and ended our trip to Morocco at the Riad Magellan in Marrakesh - a beautiful, stylish and atmospheric Riad in the middle of the Media. Great rooms, incredibly beautiful decor, lovely breakfast. And very friendly hosts. Definitely recommended!

Travelled as a group of friends - we found the place a peaceful retreat after the hubbub of frenetic activity in the souks. We are not breakfast people when at home, but what is provided is sufficient to fill a hole until you wander in to many of the available eateries scattered about town. We found all the staff to be very pleasant and obliging. Transfers to/from airport efficient and good value. Excursions well organised. Evening meals we had on a couple of occasions were nice, and one of our number even did a cookery course at the Riad! We'd brought duty free booze and there was no worry about us using it, indeed they even served it to us on request. Rooms and Riad was clean. Overall a great weeks' stay.

Room Tip: The green, orange and purple rooms open out onto the first floor landing, which affords greater priv...

Beautiful location so close to the square. It is a real oasis of peace and quiet right there close to everything you want to see. And the staff are just the best. The riad is just the perfect place to enjoy Marakech from

We enjoyed our stay very much: the riad was really nice, the architecture, the rooms, decoration... The owner was extra helpful and wanted to make you feel like at home, giving recomendations for the city, etc. Only some things could be improved: the lady that works in the riad and takes care of the breakfast was not nice at all... and breakfasts could include something else, they were a little bit limited. Apart from this, recommendable totally!
