“I pretty much always agree with other people...but this time I totally disagree”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

In my opinion I think that when you are trying to take care of to many things (or places) at the same time, you can't give a good service to everyone. The two ladies that work there in the morning are fabulous and the breakfast was exquisite.

Dear Guest,

I would like you to understand that dropping such a review is not only destroying our efforts to maintain our business in a very tough market, but is also bringing not value for other travellers: the only thing you said about out Riad was that the staff was nice and breakfast excellent, and you gave us the worst quote possible! How could future guests use that review for their selection process and how could we improve our standards if there are not factual elements?

This is so abstract that I have a strong presumption that this review could be a fake one... Which would not be the first time.

What a wonderful and idyllic riad in the heart of Marrakech! Phillipe, the owner, was extremely helpful; he gave us recommendations, checked on us daily and even guided us to a restaurant he recommended when we got lost. It was a great experience and I would definitely stay here upon my return.

Lovely welcoming email on booking from the owner, Phillippe, to organise transport and a meal if we wanted it. Attractive cool and calm and clean interesting place to stay in the heart of things with lovely welcoming helpful staff.Lots of attention to detail, tea when we arrived, time allowed to chill out and a very helpful map and pen supplied with lots of great advice about attractions, how to get there etc. Room mix up (double instead of twin) immiately rectified, must to my mate and I's relief. The clean spacious room, shower with soap and hand and bath towels and air con made for a comfortable stay. Mattress was harder than I'm use but that's personal preference. A good start to the day breakfast, fresh orange, coffee/tea, fresh fruit, yoghurt, dates, bread and honey, jam etc and panckes or something similar each morning.
Riad recommended restaurant 'les terrace de epieces' ten minutes away, good value for money and lovely setting on the rooftops. Being able to pay for the Riad in a mixture of local currency and euros was great. Would recommend it to friends, not something I do lightly and stay there again without hesitation. It made our trip thank you.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor, probably gave us more privacy than if you were on the ground? lovely...

We (3 women) stayed here for 3 nights and could not have asked for a better experience. The location is perfect, central to everything, and the rooms are spacious and beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, going above and beyond. They arranged for our transportation to and from the Riad, provided us with excellent recommendations and made us feel very welcomed and at home. We would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Beautiful and well-run riad. I was a woman traveling alone and all the staff was incredibly helpful in terms of sightseeing, lunch/dinner, and hammam recommendations, booking a desert excursion, and airport transport. It is also very centrally located. Highly recommended!

This is a very well run Riad. We were met at the airport and escorted to our Riad. There are no cars in the Medina and the place would be impossible to find on foot so do arrange a greeter. Our house guy, Mohammed, was great, He cooked dinner when we arrived at night. And even though his English was a bit limited he conveyed everything very well. (Give him a break- he's 73 or so) The place was spotless. Phillip, the owner, is a class act and made our stay enjoyable. He organized a trip to the Atlas Mountains we really enjoyed.
Location was right between the Souks and the Jamaa El Fna so it was minutes to both.
The Riad and the Atlas trip were the highlights of the trip. To know the low lights read my blurb under "Medina"

Room Tip: Don't stay in the room right above the entry. It's hot there and all the windows are left op...

We have just returned from a visit to the Riad Magellan in Marrakech, both of which were enchanting. Had a superb typically Moroccan meal on the first night, Moroccan salads, chicken tangine and a delicious fruit salad. We ordered a birthday cake this too was divine. Adil and Mohammed were more than happy to serve us with the champagne we had brought with us. Being four ladies of a certain age we had booked the Plum twin-bedded room on the first floor with a very comfortable covered seating area just outside where we breakfasted on our last morning, and the Blue twin-bedded room on the ground floor again with a seating area outside for breakfast with a sunken water feature covered with rose petals - wonderful.

Phillipe the owner was extremely helpful, sitting us down with maps giving us directions on how to get to and from the Riad which we didn't find a problem at all. The alleyways were extremely well lit at night and we did not feel intimiated or that our safety was compromised in any way.

Phillipe recommended a Hamman (the Bleu Basin(?) which was wonderful and showed us an excellent restaurant for lunch - the Cafe Charifa which we would not have found on our own - thoroughly recommend the orange and ginger chicken.

Everything about the Riad Magellan was first class , its location to the souks and the main square, the food and hospitality were exceptional, transport arrangements to and from the Riad spot on - can't wait to return - perhaps next time we'll bring our husbands - or perhaps not!!
