“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2014 NEW

This place cannot be properly described, it must be seen to be believed .A complete maze of filthy alleyways filled with stalls selling everything form pashmina`s to Zebra skins. All the food stall were heaving with flies, the vegetables and fruit were mostly rotten. Chicken heads and feet along with fish guts are thrown on the floor for all the feral cats. Cow and goat heads are displayed outside the stalls. People have live lizards , hedgehogs. tortoises, birds and all sorts in tiny cages in the burning sun all for sale. Donkeys with open weeping sores stand without water all day and evening . Really difficult to see and the images will stay with me for ever, but it`s just a different culture. Do not take notice of all the lads offering to give directions, they will send you the wrong way and take money for it. Very easy to be lost in here for hours and a map is not much good as a lot of the alleyways don't have names on. Be prepared to haggle, it feels wrong to start with because we are too polite but when you get the hang of it you can have fun.

“Chaotic and boisterous”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2014 NEW

The souks of Marrakesh are fascinating. They are a sometimes chaotic and sometimes downright dangerous place to visit. Dangerous that is due to mopeds being driven at high speed through crowds of visitors. Cries of "Attention" are heard as the bike, mopeds, scooters and other crazy vehicles hurtle past at alarming speeds. The stall holders are good natured but, to stop for even a second to admire anything is to commence the hard sell. A polite "no thanks" or "non merci" works but after 7 days in Marrakesh it does get a bit much. Not to be missed whilst in Marrakesh but do walk on the right and be careful.

“shopping fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2014 NEW

A nice place to shop and get lost in the alleyways-keep exploring because it is bigger than you think. The alleyways are noisy because motor bike riders cause pollution but they traders do not hassle you too much. Bargain. There are some better quality shops with something other than tourist tat if you keep exploring.

“Interesting but watch out for young men out to make a quick buck!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2014 NEW

The souks are a delight to explore. But watch out for people wanting to take you to go see the tanneries - they tell you it's free - they don't ask you for money but the man that shows you around the smelly dirty area does expect money and gets very upset if you don't pay him at least 100 dirhams. A total waste of money!
