Marrakech is probably everything you could imagine ... busy, noisy, colourful. The sounds, sights ... and smells, will be remembered for a long while, but overall they will be good memories and well worth the journey.
Be prepared for major hassle from the stall owners in the Souks ... you practically end up saying "no" in your sleep. The alternative is to launch yourself into it all with the spirit intended and the haggling can be enormous fun - although it would be nice to be able to browse without the constant pressure to make a sale
Watch out if you are looking lost - there is always someone wanting to direct you ... for a price! Things are simpler if you go on an organised foot tour with an official guide - ours was excellent and kept most of the 'pest' hawkers at bay while showing us areas that we may well not have visited otherwise.
A few days IN Marrakech is probably enough but trips out to the coast, the mountains, etc make an excellent starting point.
We have not added our photos here (100's) as there are already so many out there - but make the visit, be prepared for everything you could imagine - from the sounds & smells of the spice markets to the not so pleasant smells of the drains that are always likely to be around the next corner!! Also the wealth and the poverty that is always present in a city such as this but also the overwhelming friendliness of the people met
