“A fascinating collection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

A fascinating small gem of a museum in a beautiful traditional town house, built around a small courtyard. It is set on two floors, and each room contains items from different African regions and tribes. I have an especial interest in textiles and jewellery design, and I found plenty to delight and inspire me. Photography is allowed, although tricky in naturally lit rooms with artefacts in glazed cases - a pleasant challenge. There are some wonderfully carved wooden doors or gates, leather articles, ceramics and all sorts. Small but perfectly formed, with no souvenir shop at the end. I agree with other reviewers - well worth the visit and the admission cost.

“Do not miss this one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Very interesting with an English folder at reception with details of all the rooms. Luckily had the chance to meet the man who had set up the museum and collected the items on display. Quite by chance he was there on the morning we visited the museum - lovely old chap.

“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

Good collection of artefacts relating to the tribes of northern Africa. The handouts are a little hard to follow but the exhibits at this, smallish, museum are worth the £1 (!) admission fee.

“A revelation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

This museum was the home of a Dutchman who spent decades tracing the progress of art in artefacts into and around the Sahara. The quality of work in metal, leather, wood and ceramic is stunning to see as you track his progress in his search for exhibits.
