“Not for us”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

We felt we had to visit the Square as it was our first and last time in Marrakech, It was as we expected, very touristy, very noisy and busy, I was groped, and hassled to the extreme. Really not worth the visit.
The food stalls were certainly not that clean looking and the constant hassle from the traders was beyond a joke.
Beward of even taking photos, as you will be chased for money, if you refuse, you will be shouted at.
The souks were full of cheap tat made in China.
Not for us at all.. seen it done now I will forget about it!

“Had very little desire to spend time there”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Mostly took a moment after our morning tour of other sites in Marrakesh to sip a cook beverage at a café with rooftop that overlooked Jemaa el Fna. If we had been staying longer in Marrakesh, I probably would have come back in the late afternoon to see the square transformed.

“A must see but be careful at night!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014 via mobile

We visited in the afternoon and then went back at night when theres much more going on. Word of warning at night though - i was approached within minutes of arriving with someone offering to sell me drugs & also when standing watching one of the many performers had a male brush his hand by me inappropriately - something he greatly regretted because i pushed him so hard he almost fell before running away when he saw my husband approach. After speaking to police they apologised & told us that although they do have plain dressed officers mixing with the crowd these things unfortunately do happen. I would say dont let it put you off but do be aware of whats going on around you & behind you especially when watching the entertainers. The snake charmers and men with monkeys expect money for you taking photographs which is understandable as thats how they earn their money - we found daytime best for pictures.

“Very Vibrant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Just get pass the supposed local guide and you will have a great time in and around the square, start your bidding at approx 30% of asking price and do not go above 50% and you will get your item. Take time to have photos with the local dancers and snake charmers adds fun to the trip.
