“Big square”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

All roads out of the souk leads here somehow. It is a rather desolate and big square with orange and nut vendors as well as snakecharmers and hennapainters...
Around it, you will find several cafes, beware since some of them our less concerned with hygien. Your best option might be to stick to bottled beverages and only eat in the well established venues frequented by many!

“Culture in a square!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

this is why we visit Marrakech - not because there are loads of Disney type attractions but because you can see real people living real lives. be prepared to have all your dirhams sucked out of you though. If you make eye contact you are saying I'm a tourist fleece me! But its all part of the experience. Do it once, be prepared to part with dirhams and enjoy. tip - they always ask at least double what they will settle for and that's just for a photo!

“Fervent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

There are 2 sides of this square. During the day it is full of people with the snakes and monkeys triyng to get some money with photoes, it's sad to see the monkeys arrested in chains and being pulled by the owner. But the night, it's completely different. The square gets more live and crowd, a lot of drum beat and people dancing. There are a lot of stalls where you can eat safe treet food and drink fresh and cheap orange juice. The souks are in the climax and tourists are mixed with locals in a fervent way.

“Be careful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

We visited here in the daytime and at night. It was much better in the day as it was a lot less hassle as there is not so many people.Be careful of the scooters and bikes they drive straight at you, also be careful if taking photos as someone will ask for payment.Lots of overpriced fake goods are on sale you would not buy them at home so why buy them here.At night there are a lot of performing monkeys and snakes they tried to charge us for just looking.Children as young as 3 are begging you for money just say no and walk on.At night the place comes alive it is packed solid be careful of your bags and wallets. We haggled a ride on one of the many horse and carts to get to the square i recommend doing this but don't pay too much.Overall it is an experience not to be missed.

“Fun tourist trap”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

Djemma el fna is great fun. By day it's full of shopkeepers, snake charmers and monkey wranglers. By night it's Morocco's largest restaurant. Food is cheap and tasty but it can be a bit daunting with the touts as they are. Well worth a visit.
