“Amazing atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Go in the late afternoon, find a seat in any of the rooftop cafes and just watch the square come alive! You might have to buy a drink or two to get that seat but it is well worth it.

The snake charmers, storytellers and monkey performers will slowly make way for the night market. Try a glass of orange juice from the numerous stalls or get lost in the medina. Mostly touristic stuff and souvenoirs. Be careful who you take photos of as some street performers and stalls might ask for a tip! Unfortunately, i did not stay late enough to try any of the food from the stalls. But there's always next time!

“Lovely week in Marrakech”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

This is where everything happen.
A desert in the early hours of the morning and a crowd in late afternoon.
You have the snakes, the monkeys, the traditional musicians, and all the street vendors.
And don't forget to try the local cuisine.

“smelly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

Hyped up and very disappointing - the sewers were being worked on so it was really smelly and the place was full of horse droppings and pee and on a hot day wasnt that nice! The souks were good but it was just constant hassle from people asking if they can help you and showing you the way if you looked lost - all for money of course! Glad we saw it but we were very disappointed and enjoyed the new town rather than the old town much more

“Overrated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This one is fine, but I thought the medina and souks in Fez were 10 times better! I paticularly enjoyed the tannery factory, which was the highlight of the medina, in my opinion. In addition, I like combing the small alleyways, as opposed to the big open area here as I think you're much more vulnerable to pickpockets here.

“Don't hang around”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

It's vibrant, yes. You can buy all kinds of random items, watch snake charmers and monkeys, get a henna tattoo. However, most of the street traders are extremely rude and demanding. Avoid conversations if possible. One artist manhandled us, squirted a henna tattoo, and then demanded money. If you look foreign, you will be heckled. Be warned.
